Trump’s authoritarian views of leadership will affect everything he does diplomatically and how he will manage the country. His authoritarian and fascist side of Trump to the political spectrum helped shaped his thoughts on what goals and admiration to have as a leader. His definition of ordinary people is the white man because time and time again Trump’s racist and sexist remarks follow him everywhere. According to the washington post, only 31% of the population is white male (Henderson). Trump is only looking out for a third of the population. You’re always looking to do a little better than your parents... deep down, maybe I did.”
Joseph Epstein’s prejudices are fairly obvious in his article, “Trump and the Plutocrats Hubris.” His innate inevitable bias is reflected through his use of verbal irony, diction, and tone. A moral grey area is the only thing separating those making positive changes and playing judge, jury, and executioner. Commendable yet unreasonable, leaders’ whose sole purpose in life is to fix what they see as wrong with the world fall prey to thinking there is only ally or enemy. They harm those they are trying to liberate in the long run. This is the downfall of leaders in many works of literature, including Harrison Bergeron and The Lord of the Flies.
