Donald Trump has risen to a high popularity among likely Republican voters, just this past week a poll conducted by Rasmussen reported that 58% of Republicans believe that he will become the 2016 nominee (Trump’s Change). Trump’s initial popularity revolved around his statements regarding immigration; however, I believe the immigration part of the statement is not what is fueling his campaign. Trump is continuing to be popular because he is very honest about the issues and what he would do if he becomes the next president. Trump has very bold plans that most candidates would be terrified to put forward. For example, Trump made it very clear that he would build a literal wall between the United States and Mexico and make them pay for it. Such a bold stance on an issue catches the attention of the American people and they feel that they can trust him to get the job done and do it in a way that …show more content…
Based on the data, the economy and jobs are more important to the American people than immigration. It also indicates that health care and foreign policy issues are also important to the voters. Yes, immigration is important and it is in the top 5 of most polls, but it is not consistently at the top of the list (Problems and Priorities). So, Donald Trump must campaign on more issues if he wants to get all American voters on his side. Based on another poll released by Rasmussen, Donald Trump is trusted more (50% to 38%) than the likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton to handle the economy and job creation (Trumps Tops Clinton). This paired with the notion that the economy and job creation are one of the most important issues to voters means that Donald Trump should easily be the candidate they look to. Again, he must campaign on more issues than immigration if he wants to become the next
The popular opinion is that illegal immigration is a terrible thing that hurts our economy because immigrants steal American jobs. Though this topic has been largely ignored for years, it’s been brought back into the public eye by the upcoming 2016 presidential elections. One presidential candidate, Donald Trump, is using immigration as a
However, he has proved credibility by defeating every other candidate running in the election as a Republican, many of whom are experienced and have been in the political world for decades. He has also switched the minds of American citizens by convincing them to join the Republican Party. Furthermore, he has had successful achievements in the business industry. Similar to how Mike Pence transformed Indiana’s economy, Trump has changed
He has done this through passionate speeches that appeal to the anger and the desire of Americans to “make America great again". Like Sanders, Trump has also brought new ideas to the 2016 election. Trump has argued that too many free trade agreements are forcing American manufacturing companies to move abroad. He also talks of the massive trade deficits the United States has with Mexico and China. Trumps biggest policy change from GOP norms is his plan of building a wall across the southern border of the United States to further reduce illegal immigrations.
Donald Trump has gained his traction by not being of the traditional political mold i.e., experience in politics, political correctness, etc. etc. The favored appeal of Donald Trump is that he comes off as genuine, that he says whatever comes to mind. If this is how Donald Trump is gaining and maintaining traction, then
"We can secure the border and reform our immigration system without inflammatory rhetoric, without base appeals to divide us," Perry said. Reminding the crowd of his 14-year tenure as governor of Texas, Perry noted how his state borders Mexico and he secured the border when President Obama refused to do so. The real estate mogul began his campaign on talking heavily about the immigration problem and how Mexico sends murderers and rapists across the border. This helped Trump gain momentum throughout the summer, which resulted in huge support and leading the polls in first of the nation states as well as nationally. "Demeaning people of Hispanic heritage is not just ignorant, it betrays the example of Christ,” Perry said.
There are numerous people vying to be the Republican candidate for the 2016 Presidential election. Of all the current candidates, Donald Trump is one that will get America back on track because he believes in our education, he has strong opinions on immigration, and he believes the people of Americans should have their 2nd Amendment protected. One reason I would vote for Donald Trump is that he believes in our education system. When the Common Core was implemented Trump voiced his opinion. He said, “Our Common Core is a disaster.”
The United States presidential election is extremely important for all citizens and even immigrants. We have two main candidates running for the 2016 election, the Republicans have Donald Trump , and the Democrats have Hillary Clinton. When considering who one wants to elect we must be educated and aware of policies and a variety of issues, such as immigration, the candidate may want to change if elected into office. Changes will affect society in good ways and also bad.
Every presidential election allows a unique prospect to fortify the bond between Mexico and the United states. If Donald Trump wins the 2016 Presidential election, it would be devastating to all, primarily the refugees and those children born in the United States with illegal parents. When listening to Trumps point of view on immigration, people became infuriated by how he approached the issue and articulated it. Simply his words were offending to a whole race of individuals. He began to express his views on Hispanics explains how they are all drug dealers, rapist, or simply criminals.
While Trump may not personify all of the full ideology of a conservative candidate, his hard-edged stance on illegal immigration has created a massive wave of success for his campaign ambitions. The American people are fed-up, the Republican Party has been shamefully unveiled and for now, Trump seems to be the only
Immigration, education, and healthcare are three of the important topics that U.S citizens want to hear about. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump both have great proposals to make America better. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump both have great proposals for the U.S. Yet, we seen that in these three topics Hillary Clinton is better than Donald
Donald Trump would be the most ideal candidate for The President of the United States. With the options that are given, neither candidates agree on practically anything and have different views on most issues. Some views agreed with through Trump are views on the economy and how he will deal with taxes, terrorism, and immigration issues and how he will approach them all to benefit the country. In the article “What’s at stake” they say, “Trump has seized on that anxiety, telling voters that the economy is a mess and promising to use his business skills to make america great again” .
Although many citizens criticize Donald Trump for his open mindedness I believe that's what makes him different and overall a good President because he's protecting the citizens of the United States which is America's top priority.
Donald Trump used his business experience to gain support from White America when he elaborated on Mexico and his views on Muslims. To emphasize, the author says “But Trump`s anti-immigration and protectionist trade policies gave him a unique opening with white working-class voters, and he made the most of it” (4). Donald Trump presented pitches and
Those who live among poverty and violence look to America and see a wonderful country filled with opportunity. However, in recent months, America has become a laughingstock, a joke. Donald Trump, as well as many conservative Republicans would like to would like to build a wall separating America from Mexico, limit a woman’s choices, and deny current citizens basic psychological and physical assistance. We should work towards building human connections, not walls. Our future president will have the power to implement an immigration policy and make decisions that will effect the immigrants who currently reside within our borders.
Every four year, during the presidential candidacy elections, there is someone like Donald Trump Who comes along. Someone who has strongly voiced opinions about issues in America, and they are either widely accepted or appreciated, or extremely offensive and negative. Donald Trump has so far been the most controversial in his statements during the 2017 United States Presidential Election, but somehow he seems to always get away with it because he has continued to be the leading man in the poles since the beginning of his campaign. Donald Trump has been able to get away with making statements that are widely viewed as offensive with hardly any negative consequences because people like that he has a determination to make a change about something
