Curious George is a popular television show for children that address the specific developmental needs of the audience’s age group. This show was based off of the children’s book series by H. A. Rey. George is a monkey that was taken from the jungle by the Man with the Yellow Hat and brought back to the man’s home. The monkey is extremely curious and loves adventures and meeting new friends. He is the main character in this show and acts more child-like rather than a pet and in return, the Man with the Yellow Hat treats him like a human.

In the past, people believed that babies could not perceive another individual’s thoughts, however with the passage of time these believes have changed. How to apply Cognitive Theory in real world teaching It is very important to carefully assess the children’s current stage of cognitive development. With the help of this, teacher can arrange the lesson and tasks according to their development level.

There are two theorists associated with cognitive development; Piaget and Vygotsky. Piaget believes that things children learn and do are organized as schemes, groups of similar actions and thoughts are repeated in response to the environment. Vygotsky believes that thoughts and language are separate functions for infants and toddlers. This is important for me to know because when teaching my first graders using Piaget’s belief that children curiosity to adapt to their environment, will help me in setting up my classroom so as to provide the friendliest environmental atmosphere. Another useful belief of Piaget that I intend to use, is by exploring and manipulating physical objects, children gain a relationship with their physical environment.
