The Indian River Lagoon is a beauty to Florida, and a natural landscape, but, it is at risk from pollution. Chemicals, algae blooms, and harmful things that humans do to pollute it, it also puts the animals living in the lagoon at risk of dying, and becoming endangered. The causes of the Indian River Lagoon take effect greatly. Freshwater is also very important, it is a vital life source. There are harmful chemicals from pesticides, fertilizers, impacts this problem a lot. Why? It’s because, the chemicals goes into the soil and makes runoff from the stormwater, and gets into the water, and pollutes it. The chemicals make the water polluted, which also harms the wildlife. Other things including sediments, dirt, and muck also get in the water
The incidences On the 2nd day of August 1942, the body of Jose Diaz was found murdered in one of the South East Los Angeles reservoirs that was famously known as the Sleepy Lagoon Reservoir. The incident acted as a trigger to most of the media houses as they focused their attention on addressing the Mexican American boy criminal gangs, their criminal activities, mad the zoot suits that they wore. As such, in trying to get to the rot cause of the murder, the Los Angeles Police ended up questioning an approximated six hundred Chicano youths. Amongst those who were interviewed were Lorena and her brother Louis Encinas who happened to have attended a party near the Sleepy Lagoon the night when the event occurred.
The water supply has a big effect on the Everglades whether it’s good or bad. The water in it is used by animals and 7 million people in Florida. There is a lot of history about the Everglades and its water. Many changes has happened to the Everglades over the years. The water has been polluted by sugarcane factories and many people want to restore it.
Perception divides people or things into what can be perceived either as good or bad. Although the authors are unknown, the pieces were written two years apart. The two passages are contrasting because the first passage is an encyclopedic genre and the second passage, hyperbolic. The Okefenokee Swamp appears beautiful and inviting in the first passage in order to make the swamp appealing and bring the imagery to life. The swamps tone changes in passage two and evokes a dark and eerie feeling in an effort to keep visitors
The Everglades used to be a beautiful place that was home to many rare endangered species. But thanks to construction, agbusinesses, and draining the Everglades we have destroyed this one beautiful piece of land. To lead off, a mass increase in construction around and in the Everglades lead to a total destruction of it. In “ The Florida Everglades ” it says “ The construction cuts off the flow of fresh water to the Everglades.”
Eutrophication, which is excessive richness of nutrients in any form of body of water, frequently due to runoff from the land, which causes a dense growth of plant life and death of animal life from lack of oxygen, is another reason why the creek could be polluted. Fertilizers are used in farming to provide crops with nutrients, but they also play a big role in the Eutrophication process. If too much fertilizer is used, it leaches from the soil in
“The Sacred Headwaters is a subalpine basin in northern British Columbia, Canada” (Wikipedia). The Sacred Headwater is ecologically important for several reasons. To begin with, the region has three wild salmon rivers. It also contains many other wild species such as grizzly bears and stone sheep (Wikipedia). More importantly, “The Sacred Headwaters is rich in mineral and energy resources, particularly coal and coalbed methane”(Wikipedia).
Imagine, the wonderful Everglades getting destroyed bit by bit until it’s gone. The Everglades water supply is slowly trying to recover. The water quality and supply is better than what it was but, still pretty bad. The Everglades water supply is this way because of it’s past history, certain problems, and the issues trying to fix the Everglades. To begin with, the Everglades past history has been bad.
Efforts to clean up pollution are already underway, but the problem of pollution still persists. The Department of Ecology says that “a major contributor of these toxic pollutants entering the Sound is the stormwater that runs off our highways, roads, driveways, roofs, parking lots, disturbed soils, and other developed surfaces” (“Threats to Puget Sound”). When there is rain, the rain
In urban areas that are highly-urbanized, the rain becomes surface runoff. This run off from these urbanized areas can cause channel erosion, habitat damage to the animals, and clogged stream channels. These changes in the water cycle have great effects on the atmosphere. For example, clean water will be harder to find for fish, humans, and other wildlife. Some of the water in the cycle evaporates, some goes into the ground, and the remainder will travel to lakes, oceans, streams, and
Water Pollution is a huge environmental problem that has serious effects on marine habitats, animals, and water quality. BP1: The world's marine habitat has been getting worse because of how bad the pollution has gotten. “ Over 80% of marine pollution comes from land based activities “ (source 5 ). This quote explains how most of the water pollution is caused by human activity. “ Plastic litter does not degrade, can be expected to last in the oceans for hundreds of years “ ( source 6 ).
Japan is the one of the world’s developed countries. Japan is also one of the effected countries by the nuclear bomb during Second World War and it is still effecting the population and its environment. The main source of pollution in the country such as Japan doesn’t only arise from industrialization but many other factors. Water is the main sources for human being for survival. With an upcoming development and world’s global climate change are causing many degradation of water and its sources.
How to mitigate the problem of damn impoundment to Tor sp Dam impoundments create barriers across rivers that gives negatives impacts on natural fish populations. The dam impoundment can contribute to the disappearance and exticntion of species and also diminished abundance. Tor sp is one of species affected by dam impoundment. Mitigation measures are really need to prevent the problem from arise. A) Construction of fish passage
2.8 Main Cause of Flood According to Jabatan Penerangan Malaysia (2012), issues of flood that happen certainly had their own causes. There are many causes such as: 2.8.1 Continuous Rain Continuous rain without stopping can cause flooding. In low areas, rain water will flow into the river. River filled with water will overflow causing lowland area are flooded.
LITERATURE REVIEW What is water pollution? As the country is becoming more and more populated, the demands for social services have increased significantly. This has led to an increase of the pollution in many developing towns such as Ga-kgapane. The most disturbing and problematic forms of pollution in Ga-kgapane is the pollution of the natural streams. Water pollution is when there is a build of one or more substances in water to such an extent that it causes problems for animals or plants.
Nowadays, environmental degradation has become an important issue. This is because environmental degradation is one of the largest threats that is being looked at in the world today. This is because of the depletion of important resources such as air, water, and soil; the destruction of ecosystems; habitat destruction; the extinction of wildlife; and pollution. To limit the impact of these situations, it is important to know the possible side-effects of environmental degradation. Therefore, there are several causes and negative effects of environmental degradation provided in this essay with some recommendations to prevent it.
