Youths should not be banned from dodgeball, cheer leading, and football. One reason why kids should be allowed to play dodgeball is that not only does it teach them god eye coordination and many other mental and physical skills but, many kids enjoy having the challenge of going against someone or even that going against someone bigger. I do not think kids should be forced to play dodgeball just because it gives them good mental and physical skills but, I do think other kids who do enjoy a challenge should be allowed to. Author Rick Hanetho, founder of the National Amatur Dodgeball says, “The game allows kids who are not good athletes to participate in a team sport.” (171). It would allow kids to not only be in a team sport but, also learn to not hurt others because they would understand what it would feel like. One reason why children should be allowed to do cheer leading is that cheer leading is something most young people find and grow into and then it becomes their whole life career. Cheer leading is something that could be modified more often and probably more medical attention could be near at competitions. Jim Lord says, “ You can minimize the chance …show more content…
I don’t think kids should learn such harsh moves at such a young age but, the sport is a very healthy sport. If anything football is ranked in the top 5 for being the one to help a lot of people lose weight and live a healthier life, and they aren’t doing the violent moves. If football were to get rid of such violent moves maybe more people would be open to playing the famous sport. “The happy medium is what Pop Warner did, with limiting the practice contact, by doing that, you remove a ton of exposure to head injuries.” Dr. Eric Lee, of Oak Orthopedics in Frankfort made that statement. (179). All the evidence in this essay proves that youths should not be banned from sports that turn violent by people’s solo
There are more than one principals banning it from their school. My opion is that I don’t want them to take dodgeball away. from the curriculum. The dodgeball saids No!
When your child begins to play a sport there is always a risk for injury especially if they fall in love with football their chances of getting a head related injury are very high. From the years 2001 to 2009 there has been an incredible amount of head related sport injuries that go through the emergency room and most are diagnosed with a concussion. The majority of these concussions are caused from football, it does not matter what level of it bein played it happens all the way from the NFL level all the way down to pop warner. Concussions are not only from football they are from all contact sports. Concussions are becoming more and more common in today 's world, they are very dangerous and may cause serious damage, we need better equipment,
Research shows that having many concussions may lead to Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, otherwise known as CTE. When it comes to football, safety should be the priority, not banning it. Football can lead to concussions, but so can many other things. Banning youth football would not help at all, although the people wanting to ban it do have some good points.
Kids these days are very competitive and always want the best advantage they can get. Parents and their children even coaches all agree on letting the kids play at young age so it can't be so effective. The article "Study of former NFL players highlights risks of tackling too young" states that "NFL players who started playing Tackle football before age 12 performed an average of 20 percent worse on a series of cognitive tests than those who started playing tackle football after they have celebrated their 12th birthdays. " This shows that Kids can keep starting at a young age and at a risk that might not affect them in the future. Kids will do anything for the extra
Your heart swells with pride as your son breaks through the opposing team’s defense. A clear route opens up on the football field, and your eyes don’t stray from the miraculous sight of your child running for the touchdown. WHAM! An enormous linebacker slams into your son, causing him to ricochet off the linebacker and collapse to the ground. Holding your breath, your heart plummets as you anxiously wait for him to rise; but he doesn’t, even as the paramedics rush to his side.
Cheer leading isn’t a sport. They mostly perform at other sporting events, it’s not in the Olympics, and they don’t have games and only support teams. They mostly perform at other sporting events. The recognition of cheer leading as a sport needs further research for injury prevention. (Chiropr para 5)
After hours of attempted treatments, the boy sadly dies. To prevent this common scenario from happening, tackling in youth football should be banned until kids reach early teenage years because it can cause detrimental head injuries, and many other future and emotional effects. Being less developed creates a higher risk for injury. The younger kids are, the less developed they are (Smith). Their heads and necks are weaker so when they are hit, it causes them to have more severe injuries (Smith).
Principals all around are trying to ban big gulps, Now they are after our childhoods! I believe that we should keep dodgeball Recently principals in Elkton, Maryland are trying to ban dodgeball and dodgeball related games by removing it from their physical education curriculum. Because they believe that it encourages bullies to pick on kids who can’t catch well. Dodgeball is a game related to targeting targeting humans I can admit. But if you never take get hit by a ball then you will never experience pain.
Therefore, one may argue that parents shouldn’t let their kids play football for fear of injuries and concussions occurring on the field. Quite oppositely, kids should definitely be allowed to engage in playing football which will make sure kids stay in shape and do better in school. To begin with, playing football allows kids to stay fit as fiddle. Football is a highly demanding sport that involves lots of running, jumping and tackling which can help kids stay in shape. Shockingly, “In 2012, more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese.”
Contact sports have more negative effects than positive effects and due to this kids should stop playing contact
“The impact damages the brain. It interferes with the way the brain functions, causing problems like headaches and memory loss.” Kids football has been a controversial issue because kids can damage their brain when playing football. Kids shouldn’t be able to play football because it injures the kid’s brain, and some of the helmets don’t protect the kid’s heads. To begin with, kids shouldn’t be able to play football because it injures the kid’s brain.
Dr. Bennet Omalu stated that children's brain do not fully develop until they are about in the 18-25 years old range. This would end up making their brains more likely to be harmed and damaged and if a child receives many repeated blows to the head they can end up with permanent brain damage which can also lead to bad side effects later in life. Concussions and injuries to the head are a big problem in football. So why should we allow the most vulnerable to be put in harm's way and risk their futures? The answer is we should
Youth football is a sport that is played in various places, many people think that it is not dangerous and kids should be able to play, while others think that this sport is too dangerous and should not be played. Based off of all the evidence that I have found through research, it has let me to agreeing with the fact that youth football is too dangerous for young children to be playing. This sport has pros to it, some of which are very good, but the con side outways it with extraordinary pieces of evidence, these are the things showing that this sport is not to be played at this age and overall. There are a few pieces of evidence and facts that show proof of why it is dangerous and why this can’t be stopped. Some of the reasons are very serious, such as CTE which is a brain disease caused by rapid hits to the brain, this has lifetime affects and changes you in many ways, in worst cases this can even cause death.
Children being vulnerable to harmful situations, such as the ones listed above, is one of the main reasons that the total number of children participating in competitive sports has been diminishing over the last few
With the recent debate of dodgeball being banned in school or not, I thought I would give my opinion on this topic and weather dodgeball should be banned or not. My opinion is that dodgeball should be banned because it is not a appropriate for school. Here are a couple of reasons why dodgeball should be banned. One of my reasons that Dodgeball is not an appropriate for school is that Dodgeball does not meet the P.E standards for schools. In most P.E classes all the students must be physically active, but once you get hit by a ball the students sit out until a new game starts.
