Imagine living in a world where proper sexual health care and education was unavailable. Imagine not being able to receive information about contraceptives or options for an unexpected pregnancy. Imagine the number of people with sexually transmitted diseases, exceeding the number of people who do not have them, because treatment for STD’s was unavailable. On average 2.7 million men and women visit Planned Parenthood each year, to receive health care, such as STD screening, numerous cancer screenings and various other programs that are available. Planned Parenthood among countless other HealthCare providers is one of the Nation’s leading providers of “high quality, affordable healthcare for women, men and young people, and also the largest provider of sex education”( Planned Parenthood at a glance). If the Federal government defunds Planned Parenthood millions of people will struggle to seek the proper health care attention they need. Numerous …show more content…
These services are cervical cancer screenings, pap tests, pelvic exams, emergency contraception and birth control. Planned Parenthood plays an important toll on women 's sexual health care; especially young women. According to the U.S National Center for Health Statistics 15.2% of women between the ages of 15-19 are on the pill. While 6.4% women in the same age ranking use condoms. Having an organization such as Planned Parenthood, makes it easier for women to be put on the pill or receive condoms for safe sex. Planned Parenthood educates women about the risks of unprotected sex and makes sure to provide women with every tool required to protect themselves from an illness that might not be treatable in the long run. Along with tools to help promote safe sex; Planned Parenthood also is a place where women can go to get emotional support concerning sexuality, body image, relationships and pregnancies. (Women’s
Through Planned Parenthood, they are able to come and receive STI testing at affordable prices and if needed, treatment. The first article presented only the author’s point of view and refused to say the words “birth-control” or even “contraceptives.” Sadly, it only focused on how “evil” the people were who were sending out the literature, not how these women, many of whom were likely married, simply did not want any more children and needed medication and information on how to prevent pregnancy. The second article, however, addressed the issue with a more factual approach. It seemed to accept the idea that women have the right to birth control and sex education, even if the author only discussed married people. These articles are evidence of how, in one hundred years, the nation can change its entire stance on an issue.
Their services include screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases and infections among other things regarding contraception. House speaker Paul Ryan has spoken out about Republicans plan to defund Planned Parenthood. I believe that we should continue to fund Planned Parenthood, this health center serves up to 2.5 million people each year from all different economic classes. Ever since Roe v. Wade, there has been serious controversy on abortion, and because of the mixed opinions I believe all federal funding for planned parenthood, would not be towards abortion, but for other sexual health
It’s also worth noting that federal law already forbids Planned Parenthood from using the funds it receives from the government for abortions. So though the fight over Planned Parenthood might be about abortion, Planned
What I would like for people to realize is that Planned Parenthood is more that meets they eye. They are more than people give them credit for, and they are more than an abortion clinic. The services they provide range anywhere from sexual education and contraception education to helping with gender identity and sexual orientation, or from reproductive services to cancer screenings and STI testing and treatment. They services they provide are endless, and all equally important. As someone who has struggled with their sexual orientation and with self acceptance, if I had known that Planned Parenthood provided services such as these, I would have taken advantage of them and gotten the guidance that I needed.
Lastly, the number of abortions would go up if Planned Parenthood were to be defunded. Planned Parenthood offers more than just abortions, whilst they are a very small part of what Planned Parenthood offers. 42% of what they offer is STI/STD testing and treatment, 34% is contraception, an 11% is other women’s health services, 9% being cancer screening and prevention, then abortion at a small 3% of what they offer, while 1% is other services. This
After hearing these facts’, you can better understand what Planned Parenthood is and that they contribute way more help to are society then just abortions, and by offering these health benefits we would keep cutting back the number of unplanned pregnancies and that would cut back the number of

Hillary Clinton This paper will bring three points of Planned Parenthood related with Hillary Clinton along with my thoughts about her speech. The first point will talk about my relationship with political, Hillary Clinton’s statement about women’s health/the reproductive rights, and Hillary Clinton’s strong dream to give women’s right back to them away from government, religious and all another invert women’s right to make their own decisions. Planned Parenthood Federation of America is a nonprofit organization that establishes itself on health care, functioning as an outreach program as well as a provider of various medical services. The organization was developed upon the idea that women should have easy, obtainable access to information and care to ensure a healthy life. Planned Parenthood both promotes as well as establishes this motive as the program itself is “...based on respect for each individual 's right to make informed, independent decisions about health, sex, and family planning” (Charity Navigator). Planned Parenthood was founded on October 16, 1916, in Brooklyn, New York by Margaret Sanger and Ethel Bryne. Margaret Sanger was a strong advocate for women’s health rights,
There were four and a half million STI tests and treatments in 2013. Without Planned Parenthood many women and men would not found out about breast cancer, women may never have found out about their cervical cancer, and some women may have never know that being pregnant can kill her and her child. There are 2.7 million people in the United States that are alive from their services and are still using their healthcare. Also, millions of people could not have treated STI’s. Planned Parenthood is the reason millions of people are still alive
Planned Parenthood performs many breast exams, which are needed to detect early cancer, and pap tests, which can find pre-cancerous cells. There’s no question that Planned Parenthood helps prevent and treat very serious sexually transmitted infections and diseases. Moreover, the organization tests for and treas STI’s quite inexpensively. Without Planned Parenthood, women who are uninsured or have a low income would have nowhere to go to get these necessary tests done. Yet in 2015, the republicans attempted to shut down the United States government over funding women’s
It provides services to communities that wouldn’t have had access to otherwise. While I thought what I knew what set in stone, this is not true. With the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, what I thought I knew is changing. Learning more information about the true impact of Planned Parenthood can help myself and others, form their own opinion and learn more about the significant impact of Planned
I will begin by talking about the history of birth control: when it started, how it all began, and how it developed. I will then talk about how women can find many benefits within birth control. I will talk about how these benefits enhance ways of living and why it’s important that the choice of birth control is accessible if wished upon. I will try to find women’s personal stories about inability to pay for the high cost of birth control. Finally, I will then talk about how not all health insurance fully covers the cost of birth control and proceed my argument that all women should receive full coverage
