Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my name is Zainab. I'm the prosecutor of the Mary Maloney crime . On a mission to prove that Mary Maloney is guilty of murder. The crime takes place in Rocheport ,Missouli. January 2, 1954, in the house. Mary Maloney 23 years married. Accused of killing her husband Mr. patrick. The particular reason for the crime was that he wanted to get divorce. He was murdered by a piece of lamb that could be extracted very easily later, in the most ideal manner. Additionally, Mary presented herself as the very last person who could have committed the crime. The crime might seem unreliable without being purposely so. But that's not true.Mary carefully arranged everything. Mary wed Patrick, a detective, in order to protect herself from her previous crimes. That didn't work out well for her because he discovered it soon after they got married. At the time, he …show more content…
She had to first gather herself and admit that she had killed him. The next action she took was to cover up the crime. She left the house and headed to the nearby grocery store. She started a conversation with the worker who is very familiar with them. The reason for that was that she required relevant evidence in case the cops arrived. And after Mary had planted, she returned home and pretended to be shocked. She then made a call to the police, asking them to investigate the crime. She had to do nothing more than watch while they looked for information on the case but could discover none. The lamb she used was the only piece of events that was relevant to the case. But as we've already mentioned, she was aware that the lamb was edible and simple to convert. So she cooked the meat and in a very emotional act, asked the policeman who was friends with her husband to eat it for her, while she’s giggling in the living room, not feeling any
Although Mary did not know about the plan to murder lincoln she was still an associate. Mary also visited the theater many times the night of the murder. This could have possibly been that she was looking for a good place for it to take place. Secondly, Mary lied to the police.

Mary continued to exhibit behavioral problems from behind bars; there was a documented escape, which led to Mary capture three days later. This and many other of Mary's behavior problems lead to the suspicion that Mary have suffered from the same mental issues that plagued, her mother. Mary seemed to be screaming for attention in many ways. At school, she attempted to alert school tears to no avail. If there were a little more attention given to Mary's behavior and temper, the murders may have been
On the day of the murder, Booth ran into fellow actor John Matthews on the street and gave him a sealed letter for the National Intelligencer newspaper. The letter read Powell, Azterodt, and Herolds’ name, but did not mention Mary’s name once. Although, the letter left out other peoples names who were involved such as Dr. Mudd. Dr. Mudd helped Booth with his leg after Booth and Herold escaped and let them stay at his house. This is proof that Mary was guilty for participating in the plot, even if one little letter didn’t have her name on
She did not know that her husband a well known named man somehow came from a colored family as it is revealed at the end of the story “But, above all, she wrote, “night and day, I thank the God for having so arranged our lives that our dear Armand will never know that his mother, who adores him, belongs to the race that is cursed with the brand of slavery.” On Lamb to the slaughter Mary Maloney was not going to accept her husband leaving her and there baby, as it says in the text “Her first instinct was not to believe any of it. She thought that perhaps she’d imagined the whole thing”. During her crisis she kills her husband and after she does she makes everything looks like someone else kills him “ She stepped back, waiting, and the strange thing was that he remained standing there for at least four or five seconds.
This opens up an opportunity for her to manipulate the evidence. The men allow Mary to stay in the house because of their benign sexism: they do not believe that a woman would be smart enough to tamper with the evidence at a crime scene, even if she was guilty. They are incompetent in their jobs
She’d wait on him hand and foot, ready to please in any way she could. Her character shifted as her husband informed her he was leaving her for another. She was in denial and figured he was joking until she realized he wasn’t and reality had set in. She became angry, cold and calculating. As a result, she took the frozen leg of lamb she was thawing for him for dinner, and hiit him over the head killing him.
Mary Maloney is not guilty for the murder of Patrick Maloney. At around the time of Patrick’s murder, Mary was out at the store. Sam the worker at the grocery store stated that Mary was “Very cheerful, wanted to give Patrick a good supper, and it was impossible that she” could have been the one to murder Patrick. If Mary was getting food for the supper at the time of the murder, how could she have possibly been the one to have killed him. Mary was happy and cheerful, no one would be acting like that if they had just lost their spouse.
First, let’s start with the prosecution witnesses. They called a neighbor, police officer, and professional psychiatrist. The neighbor was called to attest to Mary’s character and party life style. It helped show that she made bad decisions and had poor judgment at times, but it does not equate to murder. Not everyone who drinks kills their baby.
After Mary slaughtered Patrick from this anger, caused by the truth of the affair and her pregnancy, she couldn’t deal with herself, so she left to get potatoes because of her reaction due to Patrick’s death. Though, when she came back to the murder scene she committed, she started to cry from realizing what she had done. Mary Maloney, is guilty of 2nd degree murder. The first piece of evidence that supports this claim is, Mary Maloney had been filled with anger from being told Patrick had an affair and from her pregnancy.
How would you feel being convicted as guilty knowning you’re innocent? How would your family, loving you so much feel? How about if you had an unborn child? How would this reflect on our justice system? It’s your responsibility of a mother/father as a daughter/son as a living, breathing, feeling, member of this world to realize the innocence in Mary
Policemen had handcuffed Mary Maloney, and said trial will take place soon. The trial had took place on Monday April 19th, a week after Patrick Maloney’s death. Mary Maloney had pleaded not guilty, and judges asked for the evidence. But, of course, the evidence was still not found.
It’d be a favor to me if you’d eat it up. Then you can go on with your work again afterwards.’” (Dahl 121). This indicates Mary, and women’s, clear intelligence by convincing the men to destroy the evidence they were searching for. Doing such covers up a crime that would be extremely hard to, but with quick thinking and careful planning, Mary Maloney is able to do it.
Mary is guilty of it because of trying to keep the blame from her. One may assume that Mary’s murder was involuntary manslaughter. The legal dictionary describes involuntary manslaughter as unlawful killing without intent which can be matched to this murder. However, Mary’s murder was from the heat of the moment. This dictionary says that involuntary manslaughter as something that has nothing to do with the certain moment it is in.
“Patrick! She called. How are you darling. She put the parcel down and went into the living room and when she saw him lying on the ground.” Mary also creates an act that makes the detectives believe that she did not do anything to do with the murder.
