In a world where most everyone has a smartphone, boredom is on the decline. I mean, with a new iPhone 8 there is always something to do. If I even have a spare minute I’ll flip out my phone and go on Instagram, Snapchat, or CNN. Or maybe Netflix? Spotify? There is really no limit to the things that can be done on a smartphone. Yet, with all this information streaming through our population’s mind, no knowledge or substance is gained. The likelihood that a teenager would pick up a book or go outside when they could instantly be absorbed in their phone is doubtful, even though this is often the less mentally and physically fulfilling option.
