Family: Benny is a 7 year old male who resides in South Amboy with the Rodriguez family. At this time Benny behavior in the home has improved. He still a little guarded when it comes to talking about his feelings. Benny continues to struggle with being separated from his parents and history of traumatic experiences, exposure to DV and SU, neglect and removal from her biological parents. He continues to feel torn between his biological parents and his new resource home. Benny has adjusted to living with the Rodriquez. He has received in home services to help with Benny cope with being removed from his biological parents and placed in a resource home. Benny participated in in-home services (i.e. individual therapy) that were provided by CMO. …show more content…
Action: DCP&P next court hearing is scheduled for 7/13/17. In the meantime DCP&P is providing in-home therapeutic services through a private provider to assist Benny appropriately expressing his feelings.
Psych/Mental Health: In the past Benny had completed a psychological evaluation on 4/3/17 and it was recommended for youth to attend Trauma Focused Therapy. The psychological evaluation was a referral completed by DCP&P. Benny is currently working with Dr. Hubbard; a LCSW therapist contracted through DCP&P. Dr. Hubbard is providing individual Trauma Focused Therapy for youth and family therapy. At this time youth participates in treatment and he also look forward to meeting Dr. Hubbard once a week. Action: Benny and the resource parents are both receiving weekly services through Dr. Hubbard, LCSW. Dr. Hubbard services are contracted through DCP&P.
Education: Benny attends South Amboy Elementary School in South Amboy. He was in the 2nd grade regular education. This school year Benny struggled with staying focused and completing his homework. At this time it has been reported that Benny has passed to the 3rd grade. For the 2017-2018 he will be in the South Amboy Elementary
Attended by Since his 9/9/16 Behavior Clinic visit, Mom reported Ben attends BTC/Day program; walks and exercise daily; She’s counting calories, Ben is still working (picking up paper); still going on community outings with a behavioral residential aide (Addus Health), appetite good, sleeping well and having regular BMs; CSS received copies of Ben’s BATC 10/1/16- 12/30/16 behavior data which show targeted behaviors but no reports of major behavioral issues and 16 absences due to illness. He had 2 reportable incidents per Therap (10/10/16 Physical Aggression & 9/22/16 rectal digging). On10/12/16 he had a visit to American Family care for an ear infection, 10/5/16 had outpatient surgery regarding excessive wax in his ear, seen by his PCP on10/5/16,

MHP answered MHS and Antazia questions about the goals and interventions. MHP answered Antazia questions about kinship care and updates from her DSS worker. Discussion:Ms.Torres expressed concern with Dennard 's behaviors. She reported that Dennard skips school refuses to take his medication and disappears for a couple days/weeks. She stated that his behavior has been declining since October of last year and would like to explore other options to support him. Dennard reported that some of the incident, ie (legal issues) was all misunderstanding. HWE observed Dennard comportment to be defiant, and impatient.

Despite his early academic struggles, by the time the third grade school year ended school Alton had made tremendous progress. Medina recalled Alton has “an average kid in school and stated, he wasn’t a scholar, but he did his work and he liked going to school.” Complimentary comments from his teachers about his hard work and improved effort are reflective of the satisfactory grades he then began to receive. In contrast, the progress notes also foreshadowed an area of Alton’s that he still continues to struggle with. Concern surrounding his socialization skills, his teachers highlighted an area that he needed to improve on.

As I read the case study of Almeada and baby Anne, I was inspired by her case manager Barbra LaRosa, she provided social care and became the “bridge” between Almeade and the systems. One function of bridging is to narrow the gap between the services being offered and the needs of the individuals who are receiving those services. (Woodside, M. R. (2015). An Introduction to the Human Services, 8th Edition) Ms. LaRosa applied social care to Almeada while she was pregnant with baby Anne, she recognized Almeada's problems in living and since she worked at the school, and Almeada had not returned from summer break, she reached out to her to see what was going on and learn more about her life.

Reasons for referral may include any of the following: living out of township, court mandated work, a sexual offender is living in the home, or if an individual is in need of immediate psychiatric care. By investing the necessary resources (inputs), HTYFS is able to create these various programs and services. The staff, equipment, materials, money, time, and transportation allow for the manifestation of various prevention and outreach programs. The staff, interns, office space, technology, time, and money invested allow for the existence of family therapy services. Moreover, these outputs connect back to the priority of serving youth and families as they are focused on these populations.
We were able to hear about Caleb’s case before we saw him at his court hearing, and from the information we received beforehand I was able to see that this man had some serious issues that he needed to work out before he was released. From Caleb’s history of mental illness the judge wanted him to receive treatment from a program the state was offering. Unfortunately during the trial there was a lot of miscommunication about this program. Because of this miscommunication the judge had to resentence Caleb another 40 days just so he could get the treatment he needed. When he was resentenced I felt relieved, for not only Caleb being able to receive the help that he definitely needs, but for his family as
WOW! What a great 2 day broadcast on Dr. Dobson 's Family Talk! I really found the author, Rebecca Hagelin, very inspiring. She shared so many practical ways for parents to strengthen their families. As a teen, I heard a conference speaker who urged parents to tell their kids "yes" consistently so when they needed to say "no", their kids were able to respect them and accept their "no" answers much easier.
The Bateson Project was definitely one of the biggest influences in Family Therapy to date, because of the incredible ideas that the brilliant minds at Palo Alto came up with. In 1952, Gregory Bateson assembled a young research team in Palo Alto, California, to study human and animal interaction. Each member ended up years later becoming key figures in family therapy: John Weakland, Jay Haley, Virginia Satir, Don Jackson and later Paul Watzlawick. They started studying hypnosis, films, dogs and psychotherapy. In 1956, a major contribution to family therapy today occurred with the paper that provided the initial examination of interaction in families.
