The hypothesis stated the further away the water source is from civilization, the less unnatural ions there will be present in it.. The reference table shows that only phosphate and chlorine is present in the sample. In the reference table the results show that the liquid in the sample test tube did not change color in the sample test tube with the ion samples of calcium and iron III. The significance of making the Results from the Test Tubes Displaying the Observations from the Lab reference table was to find what kind of ions (out of the four that were researched) were found inside of the fire pond on Tamarack road in Lee, New Hampshire. The water that was used in the experiment was from a pond that does not have any chemicals put into
The last test was called the Acidity test. The Acidity test gives us the alkalinity and acid of a stream. On the Ph scale it goes from 0 to 14. A stream with a great abundance of life will probably have a reading of 7 on the scale( which is near neutral). Here are the results from some of the tests.
These water samples were all taken from the shores of Barker Lake, meaning that they should be similar and they were. Our class data did not seem to be very precise. This is shown in the data in sites 1 and 2 when one group had 9 ppm and another group had 20 ppm. These samples both came from Salt Creek and should have been similar but were not. Another example of class data being inconsistent or imprecise was on site 4 when one group’s results showed 3 ppm and another group’s showing 6.
Throughout Zac Unger’s memoir Working Fire the Making of a Fireman he struggles to find a place within the fire station and among coworkers. Unlike many of the fellow recruits who spent years preparing to become a firefighter, Unger an Ivy League grad simply responded to a bus stop ad. After realizing that most recruits were either former military, tradesmen or other firefighter’s kids Unger “Mostly I just stayed quite, tried to down play my existence. I figured if I could just make it through the academy without being called out as a fraud, I’d end up a firefighter like the rest of them”(Unger, 22-23). This distinction between Unger and the rest of the recruits was seen as something to be ashamed of, something to hide away.
T oday, October 8th 2016 is the 145th anniversary of The Great Chicago Fire. The Great Chicago Fire was a massive fire that lit 4 square miles of the city. A major factor in the Great Chicago Fire was the wood. Almost the entire city was built of wood, and wood is very flammable.
Sherpa fire in Santa Barbara grows to 4,000 acres overnight, putting about 140 homes at risk and closing down major freeways according to federal officials. The fire started on Wednesday afternoon on coastal hills north of Santa Barbara. It had moved through overgrown hillsides and canyons that have not been burned in over 60 years because of the hot and dry weather and notorious “sundowner” winds. Sundowners, similar to Santa Ana winds, fuel many of the fires in the Santa Barbara County.
Through out the history of the United States, a number of incidents and disasters have occurred to influence safety and protection. In the aftermath of these events, valuable lessons are learned and steps are taken to ensure nothing like that happens again. One such incident is the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, one of the most influential and horrifying incidents in United States history. The fact that both the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) and National Safety Council (NSC) trace their history back to this incident speaks to that. Sadly, the tragic events that unfolded during the Triangle fire were not surprising.
Goals The primary goal of this experiment was to identify an unknown compound by running various tests to determine the qualitative solubility, conductivity, and pH value of the compound. Tests were also performed for the presence of specific cations and anions in the compound. The second goal was to discover the reactivity of the unknown compound by reacting it with different types of substances. The third goal of this project was to calculate the quantitative solubility of the unknown compound in water.
I t has been 145 years since one of today’s biggest cities was burned to the ground. One normal day in the city of Chicago, a fire started in the O’ Leary’s barn on October 8th, 1871. There was dry weather and most of the city was made from wood. With the wood, and the dry, windy weather, the city was very flammable. Once the fire started, it spread to the whole city.
On 11-14-2015 at about 2106 hours I was dispatched to a domestic violence report at the Emerald Point Condos at 31900 104th AVE SE; H102, Auburn/King/Wa. Enroute dispatch advised the reporting party/victim, Lizbeth Nunez Santana was calling to report that she was assaulted by her husband. The incident occurred about two hours prior and the husband was no longer at the residence. I arrived at the address and contacted Lizbeth and her cousin, Maribel Chavez. Throughout my conversation with Lizbeth it was clear that she was very upset, she had to stop speaking several times as she was crying and upset with the situation.
Symbolism is a notable feature in Catching Fire. Through symbolism , Suzanne Collins manages to paint Katniss as the ultimate embodiment of rebellion through transferring her into a mockingjay . " A mockingjay is a creature the Capitol never intended to exist"(92), as it is a result of the Capitol's usage of the japperjays which were sent to spy on the rebels. However, the japperjays failed in their mission so the Capitol left them to die ,but they managed to survive through mating to female mockingbirds . This proves that the existence of the mockingjays is an act of rebellion in itself , an act of defiance excuted by the Capitol's own invention , long before Katniss has been born. .

The high amount of limestone in the creek neutralized the acid rain that was pouring on the creek. This can also make ph scale go into the alkaline side of the ph scale. The ph scale is healthy, because if it was to acidic it will be unhealthy for the fish. These were some of that factors that were in the
A stream with a great abundance of life would probably have a measurement of or near seven, which is near neutral, or the measurement may be a little higher. For a stream that is not as productive, the pH measurement may be higher or lower than seven. For the alkalinity test, the average was thirteen. An alkalinity test tells you if there are limestone, which neutralizes acid. The average amount of rocks that did neutralize acid was sixty five, while the average amount of rocks that didn’t neutralize acid was twenty nine.
A report on the effects of Lead and different pH levels on Lemna minor, which is a species of duckweed. The pH of water influences the forms of metals and metal oxide in aquatic systems. This is because pH controls solubility of metals as well as concentration. Decreasing the pH of a solution causes an increase in the free metal ion concentration of the solution. Due to this fact, it was stated that metals in acidic waters have more of a chance of being toxic than metals in neutral water.
The chemical equation for this experiment is hydrochloric acid + sodium thiosulphate + deionised water (ranging from 25ml to 0ml in 5ml intervals) sodium chloride + deionised water (ranging from 25ml to 0ml in 5ml intervals) + sulphur dioxide + sulphur. As a scientific equation, this would be written out as, NA2S2O3 + 2HCL + H2O (ranging from 25ml to 0ml in
