To be limited based on ones gender is something that should not occur. Society has evolved; however, there are still stereotypes that are persistent throughout the world about women. Even today when occupation, hours, and lifestyle choices are taken into account according to “The Gender Pay Gap Revisited: Insights from a Developing Country Context," journal article by A Kobeissi, D Jamali and Y Sidani, the “still unexplained portion of wage differentials is usually interpreted as evidence of employer discrimination against women.” While it is certainly true that women now a days have risen above the stereotypical roles they were placed in, sexism is still persistent and it is affecting the pay of women. Caucasian women have the smallest of the gender pay gap difference, but other races are getting hit harder by the wage gap. According to the article “Latina Women Earn 60 Cents for Every Dollar Paid to Men,” Emily Deruy states that nationally “Latinas earn about $19,200 less per year than men.” As evidence shown in the article “African American Women Disproportionately Suffer from the Wage Gap,” by Linda Meric proves, African American women are the ones that are affected the most by the pay gap because they make “Sixty-four cents […] to every dollar earned by white men, the highest earners.” These statistics show the gender pay gap is also dependent on race. The main purpose of the article, “Equal Pay Day: When, where and why women earn less than men” by Dana Ford, is to inform the audience about the pay gap between genders that still exists in the United States today. To emphasize on the subject of gender pay gap, Ford shows the reader how race, age, and even the state the woman lives in could affect how big or small the pay gap is. While the speaker, Dana Ford, may use a negative tone toward the issue, this newdesk editor is also aware of the progress in equality in the past 50 years. Sometimes, women are not given the chance to make more money because employers think that men are stronger, smarter, or more experienced or skilled (Gender Differences 84). This obviously means that women do not get a fair chance to get higher paying jobs in some cases. However, women know how to fight and try to make things right. A contributing factor leading to gender inequality and segregation in the workforce is geographic location. This refers to the general identification and location of individuals and or data (Jones, 2015) and no matter where you are based in the world, there will always be gender inequality and segregation in the workforce. Pay gaps across such a place as the America, has seen a difference of 77% between men and women in pay. Research shows wage gaps are solely a product of the choices of the second party. Woman have chosen what level of education they wish to pursue, the fields they wish to be in, and where they work. When taken under the scope, large enterprises rejected woman workers, and if they did hire, the lady’s income would be significantly smaller. So many people have had issues with this wage gap, people with different colored skin to what gender they are. There are women who will get paid 75% of what men get paid just because of their jobs or because people think that they should get paid less because they get stuck with the housework or they are taking care of the elders. To me that is ridiculous, women and men shouldn’t be getting paid the way people see them. Most people think that men have harder jobs and women get the easier jobs but, that isn’t always true.

The gender wage gap is outrageous. That gap is still significantly large in America, despite efforts that have been going on for decades to eliminate it. Women simply receive substantially less than men in this country. They are being discriminated against, and there is so much evidence to prove this. The gender pay gap is a significant issue in the United States because it promotes institutional and internal sexism and the unfair treatment of human beings. An infamous statistic about the wage gap has been the 77 cent statistic, stating that for every dollar a man earns, a woman earns 77 cents. Besides white women being paid less than men, more culturally diverse people are being paid even less than them. That is crazy considering segregation has ended, at least so we thought. Not only culturally diverse women, but all women are being paid less than men.
But now that I understand the term I realized that I too, assumed that all women in America were concern with the pay wage gap between men and women. In most careers, women make much less money than men do for doing the same exact job. I thought all women prioritized this awful pay wage gap until I realized that I prioritize this unequal pay gap because I am a Caucasian female but, for instance, an African American woman may prioritize the injustices she may face while trying to get employed over the unequal pay gap. In his opinion, simply claim that women are paid less due to discrimination is “fundamentally misleading” and “economically illogical.” There are more factors that affects this issue.
