Globalization has been a revolutionary and beneficial change in both developed and developing states throughout the world. What globalization really provides has been a controversial topic that has been ongoing for years now. Although numerous definitions exist, it can be defined as: “a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment and aided by information technology.” The influence of globalization at its core allows markets more freedom, while weakening restrictions from the government. Globalization provides more exposure and communication between people, making information easier to circulate. Due to the news and social media outlets, people are much more aware of social justice issues and poverty. For example, in Drake’s Gods Plan video, he is shown donating money to schools and helping out those in need, no matter what culture or race they are. This increases acceptance of other cultures as many people watch the music video on social media. The internet is also available in many developing countries, allowing a “low-cost way of bringing crafts, textiles, and art to western consumers.” These countries can now grasp at improved standards of living and opportunities while making use of technology. However, this may cause a loss of cultural backgrounds and its values as people become westernized. As people assimilate into western culture their own identities begin to vanish. Through the flourishing of the Chinese market, their country has been able to grow economically while spreading the awareness of their heritage to the world. Chinese scholars actively search for ways for China to have a healthy, balanced relationship with the west: “Comparative literature in China has played an indispensable role in the context of cultural globalization and Chinese comparatists have focused on enabling a Chinese-Western cultural exchange with the strategy of "crossing borders" between countries, theories, and disciplines.” The diversification of culture has provided more acceptance when people perform their jobs in the United States. Moreover, Chinese foods and education techniques have been greatly exposed to the western world for other cultures to experience. The spread of these Chinese ideologies and resources demonstrates the way China wants to spread globally. China may be seen as losing some of their heritage, but in the grand scheme of things, their culture has been exposed to the world for others be influenced
