Heroes Essay “Being brave means to know something is scary, difficult, and dangerous, and doing it anyway, because the possibility of winning the fight is worth the chance of losing it,” These wise words by Emilie Autumn expresses what a hero is really made out of and that anyone can be a hero. The movie Moana tells a story of a young girl who is destined to save the world by restoring the stolen heart of the monster Te Ka. Along the way, she meets a demigod named Maui, and she works together with him to stop the darkness. The Maze Runner is set in a dystopian future where Thomas, the main character, gets stuck in a maze with lots of other people. The maze is constantly changing and the doors to the maze close at night which leaves the grievers (monsters of the maze) to come out and kill whoever got left behind in the maze. Both Moana and The Maze Runner by James Dashner use characterization to show the key trait of a literary hero is bravery. Both of the movies have examples of the main characters being brave and stepping up to a chance of death to save their friends. Moana finale makes it to the where she has to restore the heart, but she comes across the monster Te Ka. She realizes that she has to restore the heart to Te Ka but Maui tries to stop her, she then tells Maui “Let her come to me” and states “I have crossed …show more content…
When Moana isn't afraid to face the monster she really showed that she wasn’t afraid to do anything which is really brave of her to be that strong and do whatever she wants. As well as when Thomas showed his bravery when he willingly ran into the maze to save his friends. Both of these examples really show how brave these heroes can be and what they are capable of doing without any powers or abilities to save them. People should never be scared to do what they want and should never be told what they can or
Through their actions they inspire others to have these same traits. One thing that sets heroes apart from average people is courage. Courage, the ability to endure fear or pain with strength. One of the most difficult things Fredrick Douglass had to do was escape slavery he felt,”The intense desires, now felt, to be free, quickened my present favorable circumstances, brought me to the determination to act as well as to think and speak.” (Douglass 95).
As you can tell from my examples both characters, Elie Wiesel and Atticus Finch are courageous. It may be in different ways, with Elie going through physical pain and Atticus being more of a mental/verbal challenge, but in the end, it’s all courage. Hence there is courage in both Night and To Kill A Mockingbird. Both characters knew that they were most likely going to be conquered, they had nearly no chance of overcoming their problems, yet they both put forth their full effort until the
There are many traits possessed by those called heroes. Whether it is in real life or in fiction, in the past, present, and future every hero desires these character: traits intelligence, bravery, and honesty. “Montag picked a single small volume from the floor. Where do we begin? He opened the book halfway and peered at it.
There are many traits that heroes can demonstrate in stories. The two stories The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, and “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell both have heros in them. Connell’s story portrays a hero named Rainsford, who crosses a mysterious island where humans are hunted for fun, and he himself has to run for his life. Twain’s book follows a young boy named Huck, who has run away from his father, and his older friend Jim, who is a runaway slave. Jim is more of a hero because he is more self-sacrificing, unafraid of negative consequences, and more determined.
Another characteristic that contradicts traditional positive views of heroism is cowardice. For instance, Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit learns to be brave and courageous throughout the story but is also cowardly at times. Early on in the story, Bilbo states, “Sorry! I don’t want any adventures thank you. Not today”(4).
The archetypal Hero’s Journey is a pattern found in literature throughout many novels. In the novel The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien it shows a hobbits’ journey through a tough world on a quest to defeat a dragon. The hobbits’ name is Bilbo, and he and his acquaintances undergoe many trials and obstacles trying to reach the dragon. The novel A Dog’s Life by Ann M. Martin is about a dog who started out in a shed and is trying to survive out in the world as a stray. The dog’s name at birth was Squirrel, she withstands many trials such as fights and injuries with her companions.
Giles and John were courageous and accepted their fates. Abigail was courageous in her own way when she stabbed herself with a needle to get Elizabeth arrested. There are many people in the world who portray heroic traits such as courage in their everyday life. A hero doesn’t necessarily have to have superpowers. What trait do you believe makes
Every past and modern culture over the course of history, has its hero’s. A hero is a person or figure that others look up to and use as forms of protection. Many cherish the hero’s, they make up who we are today. The Anglo-Saxon hero, Beowulf, and the postmodern hero/hero’s, the soldiers, both show the traits of bravery, selflessness, and loyalty. To have the trait of bravery you have to have lots of confidence in yourself and have courage.
The Sea Of Monsters What is a hero? Every single hero needs at least three traits to be a good hero. A hero needs to be able go on many dangerous adventurers to help others. In The Sea Of Monsters Percy Jackson is a hero because he is brave, smart, and strong, and is willing to put himself at risk to save others.
“You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor” said Aristotle. Courage is an act of bravery one does that is frightening yet they still persevere. Courage is found in many different situations in the modern world like in members of our military, law enforcement, and many others ordinary people performing courageous acts to help better our society. Everyone wants to have courage since whether in music, Hollywood movies, fairytales, or books we are told courage is one of the most important attributes that can turn an ordinary person into a hero.
(Dashner 316). Although the Gladers make fun of him for it, they view Thomas as a hero and they’re glad he was able to help them so drastically. Some people think that being brave means being fearless and jumping into some action but thats not all true as being brave means you have the strength and the will power to overcome the problem that you are facing. As bravery enables you to face danger or pain without showing the fear you have .There are two types of bravery, Physical bravery: It includes doing something in spite of possible harm that can occur to one's body. The heroic stories of the past or the instances where we act for our beliefs even in the face of physical danger are a typical example of this and Moral bravery: It involves acting in a manner that will enhance or reinforce ones beliefs to be good and true.
