Why is the historical context an important consideration? It is important to consider the historical context so that it remains relevant to our present. Studying and understanding the historical context of scripture enables you to understand what the scripture meant to those it was originally written for as well as allowing you to figure out what it means for you. Key factors related to the historical context are the author, the audience, and the world or era of time in which they were living in. Knowing the author of a letter or a book in the Bible is an important part of Bible study. Asking questions like who wrote it and is it about someone, can be helpful. When examining the audience, you want to know who was the book or the letters intended recipient. The relationship between the author and the audience is an important component as well. You should know if this is a new relationship, one that has some established history and if it is good or bad. The last factor of great importance is that of the existing world in which the passage was written. This plays an essential function in understanding the historical context. During different periods of history; customs, beliefs, and culture varied. What was acceptable once may not be acceptable at another time. …show more content…

The Poisonwood Bible ultimately communicates that as humans live they acquire their own history, and therefore their own story. History is originally retold through the perspectives of people who experience it, therefore it is littered with, and consequently altered by, their own personal emotions and memories attached to the moments. Adah Price, arguably the most introspective narrator in the novel, sums up human life to be “what [they] stole from history, and how [they] live with it,” which further reiterates the concept that humans redefine history by telling their own stories and recollections of what is most true to them, and how they are managing what they experience. The notion that humans “steal” something from history is clearly conveyed through Adah’s dialogue, which indicates that as humans adopt history as their own stories, and thereby change it, they are stealing some of the authenticity that accompanies history (Kingsolver 492). The Poisonwood Bible in its entirety communicates the variation that can occur in the storytelling of history through the perspectives of the five narrators: Orleanna, Rachel, Leah, Adah and
With suspicion about the request, she asks, “How can you, a Jewish man ask me a Samaritan woman for a drink?” And then Jesus replies, “If you knew the gift of God, and who is asking you for a drink, you could have asked him, and he would have give you living water.” Through this answer, we see Jesus’ real concern. His request is not so much that he needs a drink, rather he would like to give her a drink. Jesus answers to her questions, accepting her as she is, as well as challenging her theologically, morally and spiritually.

Controversial topics are and have been a big part of our society all throughout history. One of the most controversial topics in history is the Bible. And inside it there are many hard things to understand that many people have one opinion while others may think in another way. One of this issues encountered in the Bible being if Christians are suppose to follow the Mosaic Law or the law that God gave to the Jews through Moses which consists of many rules and laws that the Jews should obey back at that time. In my opinion I strongly believe Christians are no longer under and not required to follow the Mosaic Law because it is impossible for humans to fulfill the Law without Jesus, also we now are saved through Jesus grace and our faith not

In-Depth Bible Study/ Sermon Part one 1st Timothy 3:1-13 Theme: Instruction and Qualification on Leadership I have arrived at the Greenfield Corps about six weeks now. This is my first appointment, and I have taken a lot of inventory since I got here over the month. The previous officer’s farewell brief outlined a few Corps programs, which included Bible study, women’s ministry, and Sunbeam, basketball league. It has come to my attention that the spiritual aspect of the Corps seemed to be lacking.
Of the many worldviews in the world, Christianity has become one of the most widespread. Understanding what sets Christianity apart from religions such as Islam helps to prove that Christianity is the only true worldview. Many people do not come to Christ because they do not understand certain doctrines or why God would allow something bad to happen. If people took the time to really study the Bible, they would gain understanding in these areas. Understanding God, his creation, and his love for humans is essential to the Christian faith.

Bible Quiz Although, it has been said that crying is a rather unmanly thing to do, the Bible depicts an entirely different view concerning the shedding of tears. God said to King Hezekiah, “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears.” (II Kings 20:5) On an occasion of great agony, David prayed to God, “put my tears into your bottle” (Psalms 56:8), suggesting that tears are sufficiently precious to be saved. Tears in the Bible may be identified by these categories: (A) Tears of grief.

It is significant to us today, particularly if we are feeling lost, misplaced or astray. It shows us that we are always welcome in the Church to learn and love. Especially if we need to take some time away from friends, family and our busy social lives occasionally to reconnect with our God. Luke positions us in the passage as a sort of overseer of the events that unfold.
INTRODUCTION Perceiving Relationships in the New Testament The Bible is a book of relationships. It teaches on love, and how one can be and see love. Love is one of the foundations for relationship, and this is seen specifically in the New Testament, as it communicates the love of God through His Son Jesus. To be blunt, Gods love is incomparable and unfathomable. To cover the extent of Gods love would definitely take more than a book.
