Honor College Program Benefits

At first, I was nervous about the extra workload and how this could effect my grades, but looking back, applying for the honors program was one of the smartest things I could have done. The program offers many opportunities, such as conferences and traveling, to learn more about my major and much more. The honors program asks that we create a thesis in our senior year. I believe that this will be very beneficial in that it will make us well rounded in our subjects of study. It will prove to our peers and future employers that we are educated in our fields and prepared to start working in the real world.

I don’t really know why I was invited into National Honors Society, for I know I do well with grades but, my grades aren’t what define me. My actions are what define me. Who I am is someone who is always trying to be someone better morally. Someone who is trying to be smarter than they were the day before, even if it 's just a little.

After extensive research on ETSU’s honors program, I decided that becoming a Buccaneer Scholar is for me. I chose to apply, because the honors program will bring me closer to my dream of becoming a general surgeon by preparing me for the intensity of medical school. In order to succeed at medical school, it is imperative to have passion, confidence, and discipline- qualities that describe an honors scholar. I believe that the challenge of honors will instill the knowledge needed to not only succeed in medical school but throughout my life. Therefore, I chose honors at ETSU as the path that will lead me to my dream.

The National Honors Society requires and represents four important core values: Character, Leadership, Service, and Scholarship in which I believe describes myself as a person on many levels. Of a person, their character is what makes a person unique, which I believe undoubtedly is one’s most important trait. Therefore, I believe my character consists of many components, being able to welcome and help others without hesitation would overall be my best characteristic. For example, if I was to encounter an individual struggling with a situation, whether it be physically or emotionally I am always there to help, no matter the consequences or hardships that may come along with the task. As a student, I would be best described as determined due

National Honor Society can help me become a professional in the future. This organization creates enthusiasm for scholarships, develops character in students, and promotes leadership. NHS has many activities with students that can develop my leadership skills and help me achieve my goals as a professional in the future. There are different ways to contribute to the success and growth of the NHS. I would get actively involved in the activities sponsored by the NHS and will support my peers.

The majority of students would never consider putting themselves through a course load consisting of Advance Placement and honors classes. Even fewer would push themselves to achieve straight “A’s”. However, I decided that this type of course load was necessary to become one of the best. I wanted to take classes that my peers would refuse to take. I even

The National Honor Society gives an opportunity to all dedicated students to contribute to the community. This wonderful organization is made up of responsible, driven, leadership, and punctual students. This organization recognizes students with outstanding grades and academic skills, which I possess. The National Honor Society would be a great opportunity for me to expand my wings and contribute to the school that has given so much to me.

I am honored to be amongst the meritorious students who are being considered for induction into the National Honors Society. Being an active member of this society has been something I have been looking forward to since middle school; having previous family members inducted, I regard acceptance to it a goal I must accomplish. I would be honored to be a member of this society which is known for benefiting others. These limitless opportunities of contributing to my community will help me grow as a person which will undoubtedly help me in my future career in the medical field and leave an impact on my fellow community members. Throughout my life, I strived to produce my greatest work possible and continue to do so today. I am in National Honor Society, I take Advanced placement, Honors, Advanced, and dual-enrollment courses at Penn State DuBois. I spent two summers volunteering at the local community theater kid’s summer workshop, and during the year I volunteer to usher, stage manage, and run lights at the theater. I began selling clothes on eBay at thirteen and by fifteen I created an online store through Etsy. I began working at the age of sixteen, and I currently work at T.J. Maxx.

I can contribute my hard work to the Honors College community. I think that I am hardworking and I love to work with others to help solve problems because two heads are always better than one. I would contribute my ideas to the lessons and help others when they need it. I love to be able to work with other people outside my comfort zone and be able to hear their ideas and combine ideas to come up with something that will benefit everyone in the community.

The American Honors Program reminds students that the possibilities truly are endless, and that is exactly what I need to achieve all of my dreams. Sometimes our dreams can be scary, but then I remind myself that even the greatest masterminds had moments of fear. You can move mountains when you reach above and beyond what's required. When I forget these things, I'm reassured by the fact that I have American Honors in my corner. I received a card in the mail the other day from the American Honors Program that said, "If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough.

The Urban Honors College, in my family, has always been seen as an advantageous program to be a part of. Urban Honors is a rigorous program, but it provides many great opportunities too. It separates a groups of students, who all have a similar drive for excellence, from the rest of the student body and allows them to flourish. For this very reason I want to join this program. I want the challenge of a more difficult workload, while attending PSU and I feel the Urban Honors College is my best choice.

Being in 1976, the University of Southern Mississippi opened its public honors college program with the goal to create a vibrant, supportive, challenging community for scholars while attending the university. The atmosphere the honor’s college is striving to create is ideal for incoming students who crave knowledge and the struggle of learning new material. For these reasons, I long to be part of the honors college community while contributing myself to the incoming freshman class. The design of the honors college creates a sought after destination for students who wants a challenge and to exceed the standards of basic classes.

The Honors College encourages more critical thinking than a normal college classroom, which is very important to me. I do not want to be memorizing facts and figures in college, I want to challenge my thinking. I want to learn as much much as I can. Not knowing the branch engineering I want to go into, I believe the Honors College is a place to explore that more in depth so I know exactly what I want to pursue.
