Everyone is born with some sort of talent which needs to be developed and practiced. The Honors College offers many great opportunities for students to participate in research, community service, and leadership—all of which help us to enhance our interpersonal skills and prepare us for the job market. My particular area of interest is chemistry: I have always been interested in learning how the human body works, about drug design, and chemistry-mediated drug delivery. I was born and raised in Vietnam where traditional medicines of using herbals, and plant sources for health treatment is practiced widely. I always want to get a chance to do research on medicinal plants to ascertain its efficacy for diseases, and apply into modern medicines or natural health care products. Also, the chemistry courses that I have taken here at GSU have instilled in me a curiosity about the functions of substances that are visible only under the microscope. I feel that participating in the Honors College’s internship programs and advanced research projects will allow me to accumulate good experience, build strong relationships with my professors …show more content…
Joining the Honors College does not prove that I am the best student; rather, it is a way for me to share, participate, learn, and grow. English is my second language, in order to be fluent in English I have learned how to interact with other people, how to do complete tasks with enthusiasm, and perseverance. Effective teamwork and organizational skill are also developed. Mathematic proficiency, and creativity are skills that help me be confident to learn the materials quickly and efficiently. Responsibility, self-discipline, time management, multi-tasking, and patience are what I learned after completing my freshman year at Georgia State. If given the chance to be an honor
I recently had the opportunity to listen to Addie Kingsland from the University of Washington graduate school talk about her research in DNA mutations, as well as her experience in getting into grad. school. Kingsland started her presentation by explaining how she decided to go to grad school. She explained that she graduated from the University of Utah, and with no plans to attend grad school, she started working at various jobs involving chemistry. After a few years, she decided that she wanted to advance further in her career and applied to University of Washington’s graduate school.
One of the greatest public servants known to mankind is Myrlie Evers-Williams. Mrs. Evers-Williams embodies what it means to be a woman of conviction and virtue. Her tireless effort to correct injustices and empower others is something I aspire to do. When examining today’s society, you find that young people are faced with a multitude of challenges, particularly young people of color. Our education system is failing, our children are falling behind, our men are being profiled, our families are broken, and our communities are suffering.
I don’t really know why I was invited into National Honors Society, for I know I do well with grades but, my grades aren’t what define me. My actions are what define me. Who I am is someone who is always trying to be someone better morally. Someone who is trying to be smarter than they were the day before, even if it 's just a little.
After extensive research on ETSU’s honors program, I decided that becoming a Buccaneer Scholar is for me. I chose to apply, because the honors program will bring me closer to my dream of becoming a general surgeon by preparing me for the intensity of medical school. In order to succeed at medical school, it is imperative to have passion, confidence, and discipline- qualities that describe an honors scholar. I believe that the challenge of honors will instill the knowledge needed to not only succeed in medical school but throughout my life. Therefore, I chose honors at ETSU as the path that will lead me to my dream.
Currently, I am a member of the Dual Language Honors program at Miami Dade College. Through this wonderful program I have been involved in rigorous classes that challenged my understanding of the world. I also engaged in a bilingual and bicultural environment. Furthermore, I developed leadership skills and truly discover my passion for medicine. Now that I am transferring to complete my Bachelor education in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, I am highly interested in obtaining an education that will complement my knowledge and prepare me to succeed in my field of study.
To live, study and work with students like me from all across Arkansas, would not only be an honor but an extraordinary and challenging experience for my mental capabilities. Attending ASMSA would be a great opportunity to thoroughly express my hard work ethic and dedication. With my persistence, I could accomplish anything and everything. I believe that by attending ASMSA, I would better help prepare myself for my future and make extraordinary achievements. My role as part of the ASMSA community would not simply be a student, but rather be an achiever.
National Honor Society is known for their members with great grades and outstanding character. I personally believe that I would fit into this club wonderfully. Finishing with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 and a 4.0 GPA last semester. With grades being the most important thing to me, I take them very seriously.
My academic awards range from having the highest Geometry End of Instruction test score to being on the honor roll. I am not involved in any sports; however, I am involved in a variety of clubs including honor choir, chief student editor yearbook, academic team, I am the President of my chapter in Future Farmers of America, I have held other offices in years prior including treasurer and secretary, and I am in Technology Student Association. I am also the Senior Class President, along with having held other offices in previous years such as Vice President, and I am in National Honor Society.
Here, CBHS doesn 't have honors classes, but looking back on it, Grace said that having the option of doing exceeds is better so that you can steady yourself if you need to. Following the talking about the classes and the benefits, we started talking about intensives. Her favorite intensive was Junior Journey, even though it wasn 't actually an intensive. Since the trip was last
I am interested in Howard University because it is an HBCU that encompass the themes of cultural diversity and education. Your commitment to scholars ensures me that at your school I will be right at home. Since I intend on on going down a medical path, I know that Howard University will provide me with best resources to follow my dreams. As a child I was always interested in the worlds around me and how things worked. As a result I participated in a Summer Enrichment Program located at Indiana University in Bloomington.
I currently am a junior Nursing major and Psychology minor at the illustrious Winston Salem State University. My choice to attend a HBCU has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my twenty one years of life. It brings my heart so much pleasure in all thing that I do at my HBCU. Deciding to enroll at a HBCU is something much bigger than myself. I am my ancestor’s wildest dreams
When I visited Harvey Mudd I felt an immediate connection with the campus and wanted to spend my time exploring it. I wanted to learn in its labs and tap into the minds of the amazing researchers present. At Harvey Mudd I felt at home and felt an intellectual vivacity to which I could contribute and from which I could feed off. Walking by the different dorms, I knew I would make friendships with people with whom I could discuss the latest biomedical journal or the origin of mass. I want to gain a base in biology so I can obtain a master’s in immunology, but I believe it is important to learn about physics, chemistry, math, and the humanities as well so I can approach problems from different angles, communicate effectively with many different people and see the world as interconnected.
Also I believe that this school has also helped me to know what path to go on in my journey of becoming an engineer. This school has helped me learn what courses that I should take as well as what path to go in when it comes to being an engineer. I really enjoy engineering and I hope that when I grow up I will be able to reach my goal of becoming a biomedical engineer. I believe that when I become a biomedical engineer I would be able to create things for people all over the
So far in college I’ve completed the following Science courses: C&G, D&E, and General Chemistry I; I’m currently taking Cell and General Chemistry II. Among the many goals I have set for myself, the major ones include doing exceptionally well in my core classes, doing as well as I can on the MCAT, getting accepted into at least one of my top choices of medical schools, and becoming the doctor I’ve wanted to be since I was 16. Some “interesting” facts about me include 1.) I owned 10 chinchillas at one point- I wanted a puppy and somehow got chinchillas, 2.)
It has already been established that I definitely want to become a better writer in the future. Also, being able to keep the reader entertained and beg for more is wonderful! " To create enthusiasm for scholarship, desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character" (National Honors Society) are all goals I want to achieve and the main purposes of the National Honors Society. In achieving all four purposes, I will be able to enter this program and gain the needed essentials for an IV league college. This possibility will further my chances in being accepted to a future in practicing medicine (an occupation I want to see myself participate in as an
