The article, “Shopping Trumps Turkey”, by Gregory Karp, argues between whether or not retailers should initiate Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving day. Karp considers that retailers should not commence the sales a day earlier. I agree with the author, due to the fact that the retailers that begin the sales on Thanksgiving day are careless and greedy, along with commanding people to not spend time with their families. Clearly, retailers should not release Black Friday sales a day earlier. To start off, experts say that the saying of retailers opening because the consumers are asking them to is false.
Abuelo’s, in Mason, has consistently been voted the best Mexican food in America, which is little wonder due to the exceptional family recipes and friendly atmosphere. The crisp and gooey jalapeno cheese fritters served with ranch dressing and the firecracker shrimp in chili aioli and spicy peanut dressing with mango salsa are ideal starters. Some of Abuelo’s specialty entrée dishes include the tilapia Veracruz sautéed with shrimp, scallops and roasted poblanos, the grilled and bacon-wrapped beef tenderloin medallion los mejores de la casa accompanied by bacon-wrapped shrimp stuffed with cheese and jalapenos and the chicken enchiladas with fire-roasted queso sauce, all of which are perfectly seasoned and great alongside the frozen sangria swirl

The first dinner was in 1945, the year after Al Smith 's death. It is generally the last event at which the two U.S. presidential candidates share a stage before the election. At the dinner the each candidate is supposed to roast themselves and then at the end poke fun at their opponent briefly. This wasn’t the case for either candidates at the dinner.

Jocelyn Fong, an Asian American who wrote the essay “Rice for Thanksgiving”, examines her family’s tradition of eating rice for Thanksgiving and how it represents how she feels in her everyday life. She begins the essay by explaining how the tradition started, but then she relates it to her struggles of trying to maintain her Chinese identity while living in a non-Chinese culture. Fong states that she believes that she is “rice and gravy”. She uses “rice and gravy” as a metaphor for herself.

The starting script of the story starts with the character Sam and Toby talking over a thanksgiving speech. The Episode is generally about Thanksgiving and the general morality of the Holiday and what it brings to the table to those who celebrate it. The main issue within the story line, is the conflict with dealing with the Chinese Christian refugees who come from china to seek religious asylum. The President, President Bartlett, is the head of deciding whether the Christian refugees are going to be sent back to China or granted Asylum here in the U.S. Throughout the story line, history of the pilgrim’s voyage to the new world has been something that shows the characters what Thanksgiving is all about.
Thomas Nast’s cartoon “Uncle Sam’s Thanksgiving Dinner” depicts the United States in a positive light contrary to the dark past that plagued the country through the centuries putting the focus on Nast’s idealistic view of America. This cartoon shows ethnic equality in the United States with multiple races sitting around a table, from the Native American and Irishman to the African American and Chinese family this cartoon attempts to depict a togetherness of all races represented in American. The phrases on the two bottom corners that read: “Come one come all” and “Free and Equal” attempt to show the equality in America at this time without addressing the lack of equality that occurred in the previous one hundred years. Growing up in a middle-class family, we always had more than enough to share, especially during the holidays. Thanksgiving in my family can be described as a rambunctious cacophony of mashed starches, oversized sweaters, and a plethora of delicious smoked meats. My mother slaved over gurgling pots of tart cranberries, spiced apples and mulled wine, and my father would set off to smoke the turkey, crack open a pale ale and listen to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Our family would gather around our Thanksgiving feast and portion out the lavish dinner and our thanks; "I'm truly grateful for this moment, but I feel spoiled...
Who knew turkeys loved shiny objects so much? In the spring of 2003 I lived on 30 acres that used to be an old bean field outside the city of Cabot, Arkansas. I had always wanted to have a farm and farm animals so I bought 20 baby turkeys to raise and add to the animals I already had. No one told me that turkeys could be painful.

October 1, 2015 was a cool and breezy fall night on Fry Street. Fry Street is one of the most significant bar and restaurant districts in Denton, Texas. It is located right across from the University of North Texas, which gives students quick access to various attractions and food courts. Many students gather with their friends to either study or drink till they go home and pass out. There is almost always something going on at the corner of Fry Street.
