Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States of America. He started as a common man in a rural area. He studied and became a lawyer before moving into politics. He was a war hero. Our victory led by General Jackson in New Orleans during the war of 1812 is one of which we will always be proud. His presidency began in the year 1828. He wanted to fight for the working class people of America. Throughout his presidency he did many things that had negative or positive effects on America. He is well known for using his veto often. The Whigs depicted him as another tyrant king, but he was just trying to guide the country and protect against what the elitist rich controlling everything. Jackson was a patriot ,self made man, a hero of war. He won the early elections, he promised equal protection for at least all white americans. Also had become a wealthy Tennessee lawyer and rising young politician by 1812, when war broke out between the United States and Britain. His leadership in that conflict earned Jackson national fame as a military hero, and he would become America’s most influential–and polarizing–political figure during the 1820s and 1830s. After narrowly losing to John Quincy Adams in the contentious 1824 presidential election, Jackson returned four years later to win redemption, soundly defeating Adams and becoming the nation’s seventh president (1829-1837).

Before all of his fame Jackson was born in small log cabin on the border of South and North carolina. Jackson was born in a very poor family.

Andrew Jackson had a strong negative impact on the United States during his presidency. Jackson’s first taste of power was in 1796 when he was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives, which shortly led to his seat in the U.S Senate from Tennessee. When this position did not satisfy Jackson he ran for president against John Quincy Adams in 1824, which he lost. Four years later, Jackson ran once again for president except he had a successful outcome. During his presidency Jackson had four main principles, white man’s suffrage, the Spoils System, Indian Removal and Opposing the National Bank.
Andrew Jackson, the first president from a western state, impacted American society due to his strong values, ideas, and personality. In regards to Democracy, Andrew Jackson had a huge role in transforming it. For one, Andrew Jackson had the goal of protecting the poor from the “tyranny of wealth and power”, and wanted to give other white men equal status no matter of their wealth or background (434). This had a major effect in politics since it gave more opportunities for the less wealthy to become involved. Jackson’s campaign involved turning the government into the “rule of the people”, although by people, he meant the addition of white men from lower classes (435).
Jackson was, and is still remembered as a brave man, although some others say he is a war veteran, as well as a war hero, or a hero in general, with the title of our 7th president of our very patriotic nation, the United States of America, which we have fought with Britain for Independence for, some decades before the time of his election, following the previous president John Quincy Adams, who has served before his presidency half a decade before, then after giving the title of Mr. President, which again, he was known as a hero because of his many good deeds he did during his presidency, one of which was dispatching of the National Bank of the United States, which farmers thought was a good deed of hid, because of their Southern beliefs, different

Jackson was known for taking apart the National Bank and making pet banks. This seemed like a good idea to Jackson, however, this eventually led to the Panic of 1837. Despite that, he was known for being for the common man.
Jackson developed the economy in a way that no man had too much but every man were financially stable. Jackson built new roads and made other infrastructural improvements especially in the south that were of benefit to the more working class “common man”. Jackson also introduced many Acts and Movements that would help to improve the United States and improve the lives of all US citizens. Andrew Jackson, a former orphan and a war hero, was a popular choice when he was elected seventh President of the United States in 1828. This was based on the fact that Jackson did not hail from a wealthy or “elite” background but from the working class western state of Tennessee.
The founders of the United States did their best to create a government that would not allow erroneous decisions to greatly harm the nation. They set a percent of presidents being politically sound and well-known; their beliefs for how the nation should be handled were essential to their campaign. President Andrew Jackson, however, did not follow this system, instead winning primarily by his personality and popularity amongst the common American. While his actions in office often appeared to be for the people, most had a hidden selfish side to them that he easily covered up. With the election of 1828, Jackson radically changed American politics, focusing them more on public appearance and personal character than on intelligence and political views, making personality just as, if not more important than the actual politics of a political term.

Andrew Jackson presidency focused a lot on small government and pleasing the common man. He attempted to shut down national banks to make government smaller. Jackson also enforces things like the Indian Removal Policy, which strengthened the bond between Jackson and the common man. Jackson was the first and only president to make the country debt too. All of these impacted are government today very much as well as other governments around the world.

However, he abused this position of power and made several choices that were detrimental to the welfare and rights of the American people. Jackson implemented the spoils system on a national scale and had unofficial members of his cabinet who did not have to answer to Congress. After South Carolinians were upset by the Tariff of 1832 he was angry toward those who did not agree with it. He also destroyed the National Bank and authorized the Specie Circular.
Andrew Jackson during his time was considered a very patriotic politician he hated the rich, he hated the Indian, and loved the idea of slavery. It has been said that he grew up not educated and had a bad up bring but still managed to get to a high political suture. Jackson at one point was general and had a very decorated portfolio, which made sense he would become president, Andrew was most well know for “The Battle of New Orleans” where Andrew Jackson, prevented the British Army and General Edward Pakenham, from seizing New Orleans nearing the end of that war.
He showed unifying leadership during the Nullification Crisis and the Tariff laws of 1828 and 1832, he showed a generous approach of governing through the “Kitchen Cabinet” and the “Spoils System”. Lastly, his concern for economic equality was shown through the veto of the Second Bank of the United States Recharter and his concerns for the common men. All of these qualities that Jackson had shown during his presidency are why Andrew Jackson should be remembered as a hero of the common
Born into a non-aristocratic poor family, somewhere in the Carolina’s on March 14, 1767, was a man named Andrew Jackson. Jackson, also called “Old Hickory” was a very bold proactive man in American history. From being a military hero and founding the democratic party to enacting the trail of tears and dismantling the of the Bank of the United States, the man and his legacy are a prominent topic for scholarly debate. Some believe he was a great president and some believe he was the worse president. But if you look at it from a moral perceptive or in the eyes of a foreigner, Jackson’s legacy was far more villainous than heroic.
