For nearly 35 years, the Cold War took place between the Soviet Union and the United States. The war was referred to as cold because there was never any physical fighting between the two countries.

How Nationalism Shaped Our Wold Nationalism has had an arguably equal effect on the world as war, depression, militarism and other worldly issues have. During both world wars nationalism was a key spark in igniting tensions between Germany and Russia, Austria-Hungary and Serbia, China and the United States, and many other nations and colonies involved in the war. The people and establishments of each country united out of pride and determination to protect their way of life. French-Canadian nationalism has been present for hundreds of years as well, although it wasn’t directly affiliated with a war, events during both wars caused the intensity to surge. The conflict started in the early 1520’s and still has significant presence in Canadian society.

When war erupted in 1914, it caused a patriotic fervor in English Canada. Volunteers clustered to recruiting stations and everyone got into the war effort at home, determined to contribute to the British Empire 's battle in Europe. In stark contrast, French Canada felt removed from Britain 's dilemma.

Communism is a political system that pairs a socialist or command economy with a totalitarian government. Within a communist system, there is no private ownership of businesses or property.

He was, however, able to state the three principal characteristics of socialism, which were the public ownership of the means of production, an end to exploitation, and the dictatorship of the proletariat. He did not take action on these points, and did not devote much attention to socialism as he felt it was not yet an immediate issue.

The impact of WW2 played a major role in helping Canada become a more strong, united nation, with equality, respect, and human rights. To begin with, before WWII there was lots of discrimination shown towards minority groups and many other cultures in Canada and because of this Canada created some inhumane mistakes. Canada allowed internment, allowed residential schools, and violation of human rights. When the Holocaust started it was like an eye opener for Canadians because they started to experience what the Holocaust underwent. This made Canadians realize that what they had done was wrong.

Communism, an ideology developed by Karl Marx, was a key component in the revolution of USSR. Marx envisioned a society where the lower and upper classes were equal in regards to property and rights. During the Russian Revolution, an extensive amount of propaganda was used to promote communism. Although propaganda was used in various forms, the posters made a huge impact in convincing the population of Soviet Union to support the communist cause. The posters contained several healthy messages about the effects of the revolution in Soviet Union.

Czar Nicholas II In 1917 the long trial of the Russian Revolution fell upon the citizens and serfs of Russia. The Russian Revolution was influenced by many people, but the country especially suffered from the choices of two men named Czar Nicholas and Vladimir Lenin. Both leaders had a different impact on the country of Russia, but Czar Nicholas’s poor leadership and stubbornness was the main contributor to the start of the Russian Revolution.

Furthermore, they wanted to start revolution against decisions made by their tragic excuse of a czar, Nicholas II. These transactions proposed as the idea of a revolution gained followers and grew greatly in hopes to create change. These transactions were right because they opposed what the people needed, which was equal treatment and protection for not only people of higher authority, but yet for everyone. Once Lenin gained control of Russia as new czar, great changes were created. As proposed, Lenin followed through with his wanted changes and made them present in Russian society.

The French revolution is considered to be the most significant and effective event in the history. It changed the lives of many peoples and changed the future. Since people of France were under the control of the King they wanted to get rid of French government to eliminate power of the king. There were numerous other factors that also lead the French to the revolution. There were also many social unfairness among the taxes between the estates.

Karl Marx talks about the role of communism and his conjecture of underlying this type of revolution. He speaks of two different class struggles, the "Bourgeoisie and Proletarians". Bourgeoisie are the people with authority, the ones who own production and are bosses of wage labor while the proletariat are the individuals with no authority, no ownership and are giving up their own power to the Bourgeoisie in order to survive. Societies began to separate and became hostile and aggressive classes. It all became about social ranking because of the increase and need of production.
