Very few people changed American agriculture more than Cyrus McCormick did in the 1800’s. His invention, the McCormick mechanical reaper, revolutionized farming by putting together many parts involved in harvesting crops into one machine. Farmers of the late 19th century faced several struggles as they attempted to feed themselves and a growing nation. Though they were undeniably crucial to the country, the country often abandoned them to fend against their problems themselves. These desertments lead to the creation of several movements, such as The Grange, and of political parties such as the Populists. The challenges of American farmers were often intertwined and difficult to get to one cause of the problem. Increasing railroad use and inflated prices hurt the farmers tremendously, which then lead to widespread debt and the cry for silver to be used in the money standard, which then resulted in overproduction of goods to try to overcompensate for the burgeoning debt, but only made it worse.

Technology increased hugely over the years but the prices were outrageous to the agriculture society. Because farmers could not afford anything, they lived in poor conditions. Although the farmers were the “front-face” of the society and provided everything for the country, people were forgetting about the, and they were not being represented enough in the government and its policy.

The Roaring Twenties was a time of prosperity and leisure for many. Technology advancements and the availability of it was what made the economy so prosperous during the 1920s. History.com states, "many Americans had extra money to spend, and they spent it on consumer goods such as ready-to-wear clothes and home appliances like electric refrigerators. " To go along with that, cars and radios were also very popular. Radios were the most popular of the consumer goods in households.

Between 1865 and 1900 American agriculture was changed through things like, government policy, technology, and economic conditions. Through 1865 and 1900, the market of agriculture experienced political adjustments in management of the land by the government whom increased prices and controlled land sales. Government also regulated economic changes with the debut of up and coming equipment and technology that greatly influenced the growth of the farming business. Many farmers reaction to the decline in agriculture due to the political and economic alterations was to become more involved in government and politics in order to favor laws that would benefit the agriculture society.

1920’s and Technology Have you ever wondered where that car in your driveway came from or when that T.V. in your living room was invented? The 1920’s was a decade of big inventions and important politics that helped shape the future of the United States and the world. The single seat airplane was getting popular with the military, radios were becoming more advanced and more popular (Guttman, 38), and the invention of the television came about in 1925(Shmoop Editorial Team). In the 20’s the automobile spurred a revolution in American life ever caused by one single device. It changed how we move, ended the solitude of the American farmer and the commute to the city jobs.

In both the early and late 19th century there were a lot of things that contributed to the growth of America. Economically, during this point in time there was extreme growth. Up to the end of the Civil war, the way people went about life was about to change even more than what has already changed in the last fifty years. Post-Civil war, over 4 million slaves were freed. They migrated and assimilated towards the pacific coast and towards northern states.

Post World War I, the era marked the beginning of modern times with new and worthy developments. More and more people were abetted to live in the cities, most people had jobs, therefore money to spend, and they spend it by “having a good time” (McNeese,88). While the society got rid of their miseries; sciences, arts, and businesses renewed themselves by evolving. Automobiles. Telephones. Lightbulbs. These were some of the major technological innovations created during 1865 to 1920. These creations impacted many Americans, even to this day.

The economy was relatively stable, and people’s lives were generally sound and enjoyable. Farm technology made a lot of progress from 1890-1920. Before this time, all the farming was done by hand. There were many inventions from wire to tractors to help make farming easier. Three inventions that really changed farming were gas tractors, cream separator and horse drawn combine. Gas tractors were created so that you didn’t have to use your horses so much and so you could pull more.

Due to automation and robotics, around five million jobs exist with 300,000 people estimated to already be employed in industrial robotics.

Many jobs have become easier by being replaced by robots. Robot are not just the idea of talking mechanical parts as we see in futuristic movies. There are a variety of different types of robotic machines, great majority of them appear in factories and in science technology work fields. Robots in factories help replace a dangerous parts of a job. However, there have been different perspective with robots replacing jobs.
