The topic of research is, “how fast does an Alka-Seltzer tablet make gas?”. In the experiment, the scientists will be measuring the chemical reaction rates that occur, when 1 Alka-Seltzer tablet is placed in a specific temperature of water. The independent variable during the experiment will be the temperature of the water (degrees Celsius). The dependent variable during the experiment will be, the rate in which gas is produced (in seconds). The constants of the experiment, will be the amount of water used and the Alka Selter compound. The control in the experiment is water. Units used while timing the productivity of gas from an Alka-Seltzer tablet in different temperatures is, seconds. In order to find out if temperature controls the rate of chemical reaction, whether hot water is a more effective way to make the gas produce at a faster speed, it would be necessary to compare the results of different temperatures at the end of each trial. In order to do this the scientists will measure the volume of gas that is produced within a 10 second interval time after the tablet begins to react. Then the scientist will observe the different rates of reaction with temperature. The hypothesis being researched, indicates higher temperatures allow for a rapid rate of dissolution. In this particular case with someone needing Alka Seltzer, they will feel better faster if they use hot water to dissolve the medicine before

Developing a topic for Science Fair will never be easy unless you have a little background about that certain topic. One particular scientist is developing her topic by researching questions she has that revolved around her topic. The scientist will be researching how water temperature can affect the chemical reaction rate between baking soda and citric acid within a bath bomb. The independent variable will be the temperature of the water (mL). The dependent variable will be the chemical reaction rate which is formed by baking soda (g) and citric acid (g).
The methods used in this lab experiment consisted of having four different drinking categories. These categories were non-drinkers, Coke, Gatorade, and water; the subjects will be chosen randomly to drink one of the drinks and then void 30 minutes after. After voiding, the subjects will have measured their urine temperature, urine volume, calculate specific density, urine pH and urine flow rate. After the calculations are done, the subjects will use the Labstix strips to measure if their urine tests positive or negative for blood, ketones, glucose, and protein. In my hypothesis I will expect water to have the greatest urine volume and flow rate, then all other drinks (Gatorade, Coke, and non-drinkers).
In the blue dye experiment the dye in the hot water moved faster than the dye in the cold water because molecules move faster when heated than molecules in cold water. In the hot beaker the water molecules attracted each other faster because molecules move faster in hot water. In the cold beaker the water molecules attracted each other but molecules move slower in cold water. The pattern of the cold water was stringy because the molecules move slower so the dye spread out slower. The pattern in the hot beaker spread out pretty fast but the dye did not go to the bottom of the beaker because heat rises.

Introduction: In this assignment, I will be doing two experimentations on examining the impact of temperature on the Alka-Seltzer’s response time. The first experimentation that I will be doing involves some water that is room temperature. The second experimentation that I will be doing involves some water that is very hot.
