Abortion: The Worst Act of Human Nature? Upon first hearing the words “child killer”, what is the primary thought that comes to mind? Is it of one who terminates a pregnancy, or is it of someone who intentionally murders young infants? What if these two instances were to, in fact, describe the same case: abortion. As of late, there has been much controversy surrounding the topic of abortion and just how significant of an issue it has grown into within the United States, a country where the right to life is one that is unalienable and an inheritance granted to all under the protection of the Declaration of Independence. This controversy has been brought to light recently as the topic of abortion has emerged as a top issue in regards to the 2016 …show more content…
The Roman Catholic Church views abortion as such an improper act due to the fact that the end result is one which involves the loss of an innocent life. As the Church says, “...human life begins when the woman’s egg is fertilised by a male sperm. From the moment a unique life begins, independent of the life of the mother and the father,” (“Abortion”), abortion is immediately viewed as an act that is both immoral and highly inappropriate. The Roman Catholic Church decrees that as life begins with conception, the fetus still in the womb is therefore a human being and is therefore a recipient of those same rights granted to all other human beings. By aborting a pregnancy, life is intentionally terminated causing it not only be immoral and wrong but unlawful as …show more content…
With abortion falling under the classification of first degree murder, the punishment should be equivalent in comparison to those others who have been charged with first degree murder. These punishments can range anywhere from life in prison with a possibility for parole to the death penalty (“First Degree Murder Penalties and Sentencing”). As any punishment is instituted to do, disciplining for aborting a pregnancy should help in reducing the future termination of
Over 22,800 women die every year from unsafe abortions. Shockingly, the US Constitution doesn’t explicitly protect reproductive rights. Up until June of 2022, the US Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade, which prohibited the state from controlling a person’s right to terminate a pregnancy during the first trimester, served to protect access to abortion across the United States. On June 24, 2022, Roe v. Wade was overturned and returned the legal authority to legislate abortion to state lawmakers. Although abortion is viewed as inhumane to pro-life believers, upwards of 700 women die from birth related complications each year in America alone.
However they believe that everyone deserves equal freedom including the embryo because they are still a growing human being, therefore they deserve the right to life as much as the rest of the human race does. Catholics believe that God will bless you with the gift of a child in the right time and you should not take that for granted by terminating the baby. Catholics have always believed that abortion is the wrong thing to do and that a child is a blessing. However Pope Francis has recently gave other priests and bishops the power to forgive abortions as he wants to build a more forgiving and inclusive roman catholic church. He says “I resate as firmly as I can that abortion is a grave sin, since it puts an end to an innocent life" but "there is no sin that God's mercy cannot reach and wipe away when it finds a repentant heart seeking to be reconciled with God”.
The term abortion, alludes to the end of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus (Merriam- Webster). There are two noteworthy types of abortion: unconstrained, which is regularly alluded as an unsuccessful labor and the intentional removal of the fetus- abortion. Abortion, is generally used to allude the prompted fetus removal, which has been recounted in numerous discussions. In the created countries, instigated abortions are the most secure type of restorative systems in pharmaceutical on the off chance that it is directed under the nearby law. In this manner, abortions are seemingly the most widely recognized therapeutic methodology in the United States every year, prior to the new abortion law, HB- 2 passed.
Natural Law Theorists would agree that abortion is morally wrong and that it should be impermissible. First, Natural Law Theory believes that the body has a purpose, or “telos”, to reproduce. If someone were to have an abortion, they would be terminating the purpose of reproducing. That alone would make abortion morally wrong. Next, according to natural law theorist, Thomas Aquinas, we have a natural inclination to preserve
1973, our society made a landmark decision. The Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade changed the way our society deals with unplanned and unwanted pregnancies. In the Roe v. Wade decision, the Court believed that a woman's right to an abortion (any of various procedures that result in the termination and expulsion of an embryo or of a fetus from its mother’s womb) fell within the right to privacy, protected by the Fourteenth Amendment. The decision gave a woman the right to abortion during the entirety of the pregnancy and defined different levels of state interest for regulating abortion in the second and third trimesters (Abortion TV). According to Dictionary.cambridge.org the prefix “pro” indicates that one is in favor for some party, system,
Before Roe v. wade the number of deaths from illegal abortions was around 5000 and in the 50s and 60s the number of illegal abortions ranged from 200,000 to 1.2 million per year. These illegal abortions pose major health risks to the life of the woman including damage to the bladder, intestines as well as rupturing of the uterus. The choice to become a mother must be given to the woman most importantly because it’s her body, her health, and she will be taking on a great responsibility. A woman’s choice to choose abortion should not be restricted by anyone; there are multiple reasons why abortion will be the more sensible decision for the female.
according to the World Health Organization, today, abortion is one of the commonly performed clinical procedures in the united states, and the death rate from abortion is extremely low: 0.6 per 100,000 procedures. When it comes to legalizing abortion, this law allows women to have a sufficient well-planned abortion so they are not risking any health injuries to
It is now considered a double murder when a pregnant woman is killed. If in the federal court killing an unborn baby is considered a murder, it should be counted murder when it is performed in a doctor's office. It is crazy to think that with all of the wonderful people in this world that mothers are still willing and able to kill a child that could easily grow up to be wonderful. No baby should be deprived of the chance to grow up. This awareness poster shows exactly how abortion effects both the mother and the child.
A fetus only has only simple organ systems; therefore, it is simply impossible for a fetus to prolong life out of the mother's body. It cannot think nor breathe; it does not have a personality, or emotions. It is not considered a person until it is born, thus abortions are not the act of killing babies. Saying that a woman has to suffer with the consequences of having sex and making her keep the burden of a child is wrong. Making women live with the decision and forcing her to mess up the rest of her life, as well as possibly the baby’s life, is unreasonable.
Ethical issues in the field of biology continually cause the people of the world to draw battle lines. While I so often sit on the sidelines, ignoring so many of the issues that divide us as a nation and a people, Abortion is not one of those issues. Abortion is something that not only hits close to home, but holds personal significance in my life. My mother, being pregnant with her fourth child at the age of 41, was told by doctors that there was a high likelihood of her infant son being born with down syndrome. Given the higher than normal chances of her child suffering from a disability, she was informed that abortion was an option that she should begin to consider as the due date drew nearer.
Abortion is Ethical in many ways. A woman has a right to her own body to make decisions for herself. In some cases, women use abortion because of severe medical problems not only for the mother, but for the fetus. Test could show birth defects or complications that could potentially harm the fetus but the mother as well. For example, severe infections, heart defects, preeclampsia which causes the mother to develop high blood pressure and causes strokes.
Abortion, is it unethical, yes, I believe its morally wrong. “Abortion is defined as the intentional termination of pregnancy” (Abortion 80). Some believe you are not considered life until you take your first breath, I personally believe you are considered life upon conception.
Initially, it was considered as murder, and the church has always been in the forefront to condemn it. After much consultations and discussions by the federal and state government and also the participation of the public, it came to the realization that at some point it was inevitable to avoid abortion as the life of the mother could be at risk. Some states have their policies which determine the manner by which abortion is supposed to be conducted, but the state government has put policies that abortion is legal with several conditions being held regarding the procedure and the condition of the mother or the child (Scott, 1999). The family has also been affected in either positive or negative way and sometimes adverse effects come along with abortion and before it was legalized. The topic had been totally politicized, and that is why it was important for each state to lay down its regulations and stipulations through an agreement by all
Existing Spanish regulation permits women to choose to have an abortion in the first fourteen to twenty-two weeks on grounds that the foetus is seriously deformed or the mother risks being in danger during the birth. In 2014, former Justice Minister Mr. Alberto Luiz Gallardon proposed a bill that intended to balance the mother’s rights with the foetus’ rights through the restriction of women’s rights to have an abortion. The draft bill sought to permit termination of a pregnancy only in “cases of rape reported to the police or a medically certified threat to the mother’s physical or psychological health.” The bill does not permit the termination of a pregnancy on grounds that the foetus is seriously deformed.
The abortion of pregnancy was termed to be a slaughtering of the fetus. But due to the changes in generations, time and peoples thinking, nowadays this right has been legally issued by many of the countries .But the unfriendliness are still present and people also consider that it should be legally prohibited. An individual 's personal attitude on the difficult ethical,
