Congress is the legislative branch of the federal government that represents the American people. The United States Congress has many roles such as making laws, implementing national policy and viewing over the other two branches of government. These are a couple of obligations the Congress has. Although they are essential to our government, there are potential problems which includes corruption, inefficiencies and equal representation. Individuals are not generally happy with the time span engaged with passing a law as well as the halt Congress put on some issues.
The framers of the Constitution created a bicameral legislative in order to compromise at the constitutional convention between the large

However this could create corruptions in in the congress because coattail effects are when a popular party leader attracts the voters for other candidates of the same party in an election. Incumbency are those elected officials who are running for new terms of office, they have an advantage in campaign financing. Incumbency helps them because people are already aware of them so they have a higher chance of getting elected. Then there is the Pork barrel legislation in which legislators obtains funds through legislation that favors their home district and Franking privilege which lets the candidates contact with the constituents through mails. This gives the candidates a way to contact with the people easily and win the election. Then there is Gerrymandering where they manipulate the borders of the states in such way that their part's candidate may win. A positive factor of gerrymandering is that it allows politicians, who could not otherwise get elected, to be elected and negative is that it allows politicians, who could not otherwise get elected, to be elected.
In conclusion, the congress is very influential as they have created many different sections and processes in order to maintain checks and balances among themselves. There have been corruptions, inefficiencies and equal representation. There’s have been times when people were not happy with how long it has taken to pass a law since the process it self is a very long process. Even the founding fathers themselves created a constitution which benefited themselves in the beginning but had ratified it as time went by for the benefits of their country and the
The representatives would be the voices of their constituents, leaving them with the responsibility of making decisions for the public good.
How the Virginia Plan and New Jersey Plan Effected Representation The idea of equal representation has been debated many times throughout the history of mankind. But equal representation is often not feasible without compromise which is exactly what happened in Philadelphia in the year 1787. The representation that was being questioned was how the small and large states could both be represented equally, and it is not shocked that both the small and large states had a plan of how the representation should work. “The one plan was federal, the other national,” (105)
Congress is responsible for making bills that the President signs to officially become a law. Congress also creates a budget for the federal government, and uses the government spendings. This role differs from what the executive branch does. The executive branch is made up of the President who is the chief executive, the presidential cabinets, executive departments, and federal agencies. The role of the executive branch is to enforce laws of the U.S through foreign and domestic policies.
For instance, It is notable that the Congress is sparingly divided along supporter lines which in turn affects the decision making by the entire congress. Bureaucratic wrangling
Recent polling shows that the American public overwhelming disapproves of the Congressional performance. I will address these considerations in four sections. First, I will discuss the original intent of the Constitutional framers and their vision for the American government. Second, I will define dysfunction and expand this lexicon to include political, institutional, and civic characteristics as applied to the body of Congress.
For a bill to become a law in the United States, the process is rigorous, to say the least. The legislative process is quite difficult to navigate, with many ways for a bill to fail to become a law. A bill can be rejected at many points along the way, such as a bill being killed in committee before it even goes to a vote, a filibuster by the minority party in the senate preventing the process from continuing, and the dreaded presidential veto. At any of these points, a bill can be easily killed by a small amount of people. Through processes like these, the majority might not even get its way and the minority could stop the bill entirely.
The congress is the part of Legislative branch whose duty is to make the laws that are beneficial to the nation. Congress not only interprets the law it also has power to declare the war. Congress also represents the common public. Congress is broken due to several factors, for instance; the filibuster, the fundraising, difficulty in interpreting the law, hyperactive media, few representatives and many others. There are many causes of broken congress, but the main important are the difficulties which representatives are facing to make the law.
It recruits former federal employees to return as lobbyists and consultants. With officials spinning in and out of the public and private sections of society, so does power, certain privileges, and money. This effects the electoral process by changing the way people think. Instead of thinking and acting towards the needs of the people, they focus on the needs of their next employer and disregard the rest.
In November 15, 1777, the Congress adopted the Articles of Confederation which served as the first Constitution of the United States and it was sent all the 13 states for ratification. It took almost 4 years before all the 13 states agreed on the ratification of the Articles of Confederation. Maryland was the last state to ratify which made the delay. The Articles of Confederation was finally ratified on March 1, 1781. In the Articles of Confederation, the states remained independent and self-governing, and the Legislative body was the last resort when the concern was the appeal of disputes.
I believe that Congress is a very important factor that links both the citizens of America and their government together. Furthermore, the connection between these two respective parties creates a form of checks and balances. I firmly think, without hesitation, without a bondage between the two there would be tyranny among the federal government, most importantly the legislative branch. Lee Hamilton believed that people were disinterested or skeptical in Congress as they were less educated about the branch.
The Constitution clearly makes the Congress the most powerful of the three branches of government. Depending on the circumstances, however, the President might have more influence on Congress than one would think based on the separation of powers outlined in the
The main advantage is that it removes the concentration of power from one individual. This ensures that abuse of power is limited. Giving different individuals from varying parties will also result in the creation of checks and balances in the executive. A lieutenant governor from the Democratic Party will be able to check the activities and the undertakings of a Republican governor thus ensuring that they operate within the confines of the law and the powers of their office. Also, the system allows for the introduction or the enforcement of the manifestos held by both parties, thereby resulting in greater benefits to the population.
The Senate and House of Representatives comprise the two chambers of the United States Congress. While both houses are representative bodies and jointly oversee the executive branch, both must approve all bills before the president, but both chambers have different roles according to the Constitution. The House of Representatives has 435 members apportioned to the house from across the United States. States with larger populations receive more seats within the house.
Congress consists of the Senate and the House of Representatives. “All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives. ”(Article 1 Section 1) Both houses in Congress have representatives from each state, in order to represent the positions and opinions of all fifty states. Machiavelli, however, did not believe in having so many people counselling the leader was effective. Machiavelli explains how it is more beneficial to have ministers than to have nobles.
This slower process lets government slow down and seriously consider the pros and cons of a certain bill, and make a clean
