Bridger Haffey Narrative for US101 Throughout the course of this class I have come to realize that involvement and participation is essential to my success in this course. Not only is participation a large amount of my grade, but it is also a means to understanding the material that we discuss in class. Personally, I learn best when I ask questions and get involved in finding connections between themes and ideas. This is not only true for discussion, but also for classes like calculus where it is very easy to fall behind unless I am fully engaged.

In the passage “Paul Revere’s Ride”, the tone of the story is hopeful. Because of the several gloomy things said in the passage many people can be led to believe that the story is grim. The passage has hints of being grim such as talking about the darkness and death. Afterword it would talk about the hopeful things that follow. In the passage it says “Beneat, in the churchyard, lay the dead”.

However, my friend said something different. “She wanted to copy my answers, she was cheating. ” I was immediately send to the Dean’s office. At the Dean, the teacher came and gave us another test.

I believed that I would pass the second time too. Sometimes I make mistakes but never the same mistake again. I was schedule to retake the test in two days. The test was so nerve wrecking for me, that I did not remember the question I had gotten incorrect. I could not even figure out what areas I needed to really focus on.

I also notice that my grade in the course has not dropped much. So if taking the quiz over is not an option I totally understand. I just wanted to reach out to express my concerns to you.

I am concerned that Haley has missed several homework and classwork assignments. I did give Haley extra time to turn in her homework when she was absent, however Work book, page 18-E, which was due today, Haley did not complete it. She stated she left her workbook here at school and forgot to take it home. As you are aware, homework not turned in will result in a zero.

Once again I point out that there are other schools and these students have choices. While reading this novel I was curious as to the geographical route that the boy had to take to get to Egypt and before he began his journey he referenced only having to cross a strait, since I am not familiar at all with this part of the world I was also curious as to what body of water he had to cross to enter Africa. I did actually look into these things and found that the boy’s journey must have taken quite a long time because by plane it would take almost 9 hours. The boy first had to cross the Mediterranean Sea, and then he would spend approximately one year in present day Morocco trying to earn enough money to continue his journey. After his year in Morocco he would have to travel through Algeria, Libya, and most of Egypt. This journey was over 4,000 kilometers through harsh landscapes.

When strange earthquakes start to pose a serious threat to the world it prompts Dr. Ambrose Ink to investigate. The good doctor eventually tracks down their source to the town of Hochwald, high in the mountains. Since the town is near the mysterious castle of the Barber family, home to the General Engineer of Gottland, Ink requests the help of his friend, agent Evangeline Glass. Some things I have done to overcome this event, was that I took this person 's advice, and stayed away that day, I stayed home.
