The American Democracy Now textbook explains about the different 9 chapters, such as The Constitution, Federalism, Civil Liberties, Public Opinion, Interest Groups, Political, and etc. Within each of the 9 chapters it describes a brief history of America and how it help mold and shaped the way we live, and the way we think from a different perspective of a person opinion. Throughout the years, technology has influenced different ways people and government communicates and organizes their political campaigns such as television, computers, cell phones, and news services. Technology has challenged people to give them opportunities to respond to make a deep impact in the future of the nation.

Electoral College is a group of people that contains of 538 electors who nominate the body of House of Representatives that are two mains of leaders that took place, the President and Vice-President. They are chosen who cast votes from each state to decide the number of which President and Vice-President that can run the government in the United States. The polls always held on Tuesday, which is the day that voters who are only known as citizens; however, immigrants are not allowed to vote. They will choose which candidate receives their state 's electors, the people of each state vote for the electors who votes on the people 's behalf. The United States is a government republic, with chose authorities at the elected (national), state and neighborhood levels. On a national level, the head of express, the President, is chosen in a roundabout way by the general population of each state, through an Electoral College. Today, the balloters essentially dependably vote with the well-known vote of their state. All individuals from the government council, the Congress, are straightforwardly chosen by the general population of each state. There are many chosen workplaces at the state level, each state having no less than an elective Governor and council.

Contrary to popular belief, when it comes to voting for president, the United States runs on an indirect democracy. This means that we do not directly choose our president; the electoral college is rather an example of federalism, both the Feds and the States are involved in the process. It is a collection of 538 votes that determine who the President will be: 100 senators, 2 per state, and 438 representatives, distributed by the population. These 538 votes in the Electoral College are divided among the states. Each state, no matter how populous or not, starts off with three votes.

Before in an oligarchy or in a monarchy one person or group made the decisions about everything. This is a very basic similarity though, as the groups in each democracy do completely different things. The current American Democracy split up their responsibilities into three separate branches. These checks and balances are called; judiciary, legislative and executive. The leader of the country or president as we call him is contained in the executive branch.

The Electoral College is the process to which the United States elects the President, and the Vice President. The founders of the Constitution came up with this process. This was done to give additional power to the small states, and it was done to satisfy them. It works by the citizens of the United States electing representatives called electors. Each state is given the same amount of electors, as they are members of congress.

The President has limited power and is assisted by the Prime Minister. The Haitian people see the Prime Minister as the head of the government. The Haitian government has a lot of similarities to the U.S. Like the Executive and Legislative Branches. The Haitian government also includes 30 members of the senate which is the upper house and 99 members of the chamber of deputies which is the lower house.

America’s current president is Donald Trump. The president and the prime minister both can run for 4 years, but the president can be re-elected for another 4 years. The capital of Finland is Helsinki and the capital of America is Washington

Ever since the Constitution was written, there have been many interpretations of the phrase “all men are created equal”. Does that include every human, or just the white man? The seventh president of the United States, Andrew Jackson, and his party, the Jacksonian Democrats, proclaimed themselves to be defenders of the Constitution, political democracy, individual liberty, and equality of economic opportunity. But during the Jacksonian Era, only white males could vote. Additionally, the Jacksonians violated the basic rights of Native Americans by kicking them off of their own land.

Jacksonian Democracy Andrew Jackson was the cause for thousands of American Indian’s deaths. A good democracy has equal rights, an educated leader and voters, peace/stability, and a strong leader. It also has voting rights, the power in the hands of the people and checks and balances. Someone who promotes democracy will take both sides into consideration before making a decision. Someone who thinks about what his/her actions would do to the group as a whole and not just a fraction of the group.

The Constitution defines the president as the executive who puts into effect the laws Congress passes. The president is elected every four years, and can only be re-elected once. The president is both the head of state and head of government of the USA, and the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. The president is also responsible for the execution and enforcement of the laws created by Congress. The president of the USA is by many considered the most powerful man in the world.

Throughout time, the concept of “democracy” has been misunderstood and misused by the majority of governments around the world. In the Ecuadorian case, despite suffering innumerable dictatorships in command of several presidents such as José Maria Velasco Ibarra or Guillermo Rodríguez Lara, democratic ideas have prevailed and continue to evolve through the history and through the time. In fact, nowadays democracy is the principal political system in this country, in which the notion of popular sovereignty can be recognized. However, it is not clear what kind of democracy the Republic of Ecuador has. So, in order to clarify what was said before, it will be taken into consideration: (1) the definition of democracy according to three important authors, (2) the principal characteristics of a democracy and the two main types of democracy: (3) direct and (4) representative.
