Jane Addams became a journalist because she wanted to help with the women’s history. She believed that women’s votes will provide the margin necessary to pass social legislation.

The Jane Addams Hull-House Museum serves as a dynamic memorial to social reformer Jane Addams, the first American woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, and her colleagues whose work changed the lives of their immigrant neighbors as well as national and international public policy. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931.she also believed that the poorest slums should be help. She opened the Hull House and even today it’s still in operation. Addams graduated in 1881 from Rockford

Elizabeth Cady Stanton changed lives for many women. She changed the very course of history and government. She changed it through her origins of course. She kept going from middle to end to give women the rights they really deserve.

The 1840s was a crucial time where many women were treated unfairly and decided to get their rights back. There were many important women involved in the women's rights, but I believe Susan B. Anthony had a greater affect on people over all. Her family had taught her many good morals and as well as the fact that as a teacher, she wanted many rights that men had, therefore she strongly believed in having equal rights to vote. Through social action and her writings, Anthony inspired thousands of women and men to fight for suffrage, which eventually resulted in the 19th amendment. Susan B, Anthony developed a strong morals and principles at a very young age, and spent most of her life working on social issues, one being women’s rights.

In Canadian history, many people made significant contributions to the Canadian society. June Callwood was one of the countless people that contributed to Canada’s social welfare. Tuesday on June 2 is known as June Callwood Day because to visualize a better world which June Callwood hoped to achieve. June Callwood made a very significant contribution to the Canadian social welfare because she was the founding member of many organizations, did a lot of advocacy work and helped people by taking many risks for a numerous good causes for the well being of the Canadian society.

Susan B. Anthony was born into a Quaker family, with the hope that everyone would one day be treated equal. She denied a chance to speak at a temperance convention because she was a woman(Susan B. Anthony). From this point on, she knew that she needed to make a change. Susan B. Anthony, because of her intense work involving women 's’ rights, highly influenced all of the societies and beliefs that were yet to come. She employed a huge role in our history because of the fact that she advocated for women’s rights, for the integration of women in the workforce, and for the abolition of slavery.

Jane Addams life as a child was not easy, she had a congenital spinal defect which led to her never being physically strong and her father who served for sixteen years as a state senator and fought as an officer in the Civil War always showed that his thoughts of women were that they were weak, and especially her with her condition. But besides that she lived a very privileged life since her father had many famous friends like the president Abraham Lincoln. Jane was determined to get a good education which she ended up getting. She went to Rockford sanitary for women which is now called Rockford University and she also studied to be a doctor but had to quit because she was hospitalised too many times. Being sick affected her life very much so when she got older she remedied her spinal defect with surgery.

During the Progressive era women had to endure a lot of suffering due to poor living conditions, illness, earning wages no matter what age or race they were. Women activists decided it was time to start speaking out and protesting to receive more equality in society. Different groups of activists, made up of women, fought for women’s rights socially, economically, and politically. Some activists were better known for women’s sexuality. Jane Addams was one of the first women activists who fought for equal wages for women.

Jane Addams was born on september 6,1860 and then created the hull house when she was 29 years old when she created the Hull House. Today the Hull House is a museum. It is no longer a up and functioning settlement house. After the hull house has been used for 120 year it was eventually shut down.

Women like Jane Addams, who accomplished many things such as the Hull House. Jane Addams like William Jennings Bryan was an anti-imperialist, she had explained how imperialism had a negative effect on America’s young children, “ The little children on the street played war… the barbaric instinct asserts itself.” (Doc 4) . Jane Addams was a feminists as well as an anti-imperialist. She was concerned for the affects it has on the children at the time.

“She advocated woman’s suffrage because she believed that women’s votes would provide the margin necessary to pass social legislation she favored” (History.com). Addams even wrote a paper called “Why Women Should Vote”. She expressed that the world is merely an extension of their house and no one should be scared for what they belive in. She continued to fight until women got their right to vote in 1920 and then moved onto other issues that women had. Some of Roosevelt’s greatest accomplishments were the human rights, assisting Franklin with his disease and writing "My Day" along with her speaking as a first lady. Eleanor Roosevelt was passionate about fighting for human rights. First, she lobbied the rights on behalf of African Americans and Native Americans.
