Jimmy Cross Analysis

Jimmy constantly daydreams about a woman named Martha as he leads his squad through Vietnam. He loves this woman so much that he brings along a photo of her which he guards and that play around with a rock in his mouth, licking it and so forth as he daydreams about her even if his relationship with Martha is a fantasy. After one of the soldiers named Lavender is killed, Jimmy realizes that he has to perform his duty to lead his squad. He realizes that he cannot be in love while be in a war at the same time. It shows that even death can cause someone to change.

Martha is self-aware, and disposes of human-like characteristics such as determination, perseverance, stubbornness, curiosity, creativity, etc. She could be defined as a subversive character, who seeks to go against the grain. She rebels from her cow duties, and seeks to accomplish greater deeds, like the cow-women who came before her, including her great-great-grandmother. She is obstinate, as can be seen through her numerous repetitions, which are employed throughout the picture book; Martha’s stubborn ultimatum: “No moon, no milk”, is a direct reference to the title, as well as the key hurdle which Rob must be resolved if he wishes to get milk.

Don’t Wait (Joey Graceffa) has a lot of meaning behind it. For example, in the song he said, “I’ll be your compass so you’ll never feel alone” This is a metaphor because he can’t literally be someone 's compass. This metaphor shows that Joey Graceffa can help guide his boyfriend through life and the difficulties of being able to love anyone. In this particular instance this song is talking about being gay because this was Joey Graceffa’s coming out video.

The source I’m going to be looking at to best approach my paper is, The Life and Diary of John Floyd. In this diary, Floyd takes us on his daily reality being governor and insights on his personal opinions. The area of focus in this lengthy diary will be starting at he refers to the “Twenty-ninth day of August 1831” and continues even after the death of Nat Turner, in November of the same year. In the diary, Floyd mentions the process of capturing and what his intended goal is in punishment to anyone who played a part in the rebellion. Floyd touches on his battle with following the constitution but not being in the right situation to do so.

Jimmy V. should be arrested because if he doesn't than he will keep opening locks. Also than people will be afraid to leave their house because if they do than their house might get robbed. And if they see him, they might run away because he is scary. How to summarize it up is that Jimmy is a guy who was a really bad person in the beginning but then he turned good is because he found his true love and then he is getting married to her.

The “Talking with Pat Mora” Jeanette Larson. Larson interviews poet Pat Mora and talks about her work and why she became an author. Larson ask Mora on her journey to becoming a writer and poet. She explains that it all started in a house with books.

Jimmy could care less in in his early childhood about what goes on around the world , however when it comes to the fake scientific advancements he has a concern about them. Later on he proves this concern because after everyone is gone he knows how messed up the world is. Natural life can no longer prosper, since even fake trees were made and animals were being formed to be fake too. The scientific advancements made him cherish life more because he knows he is starving and not comfortable however, he tries to still live in order to just keep the human population alive so the future world would not be all synthetic and to try to make Earth valuable again with natural elements. He chooses to stay on the planet in order to try and preserve it and although unhappy he deals with it to show how much he worships

My considered response is on the poem, “Did I Miss Anything?” by Tom Wayman. This poem is about a teacher that is answering the question, “did I miss anything”. The teacher does answer the question; however they do it in a roundabout, overly sarcastic and exaggerated manner. The teacher shifts from saying they did nothing while the student was absent to saying that they did everything in the next stanza. In my considered response I will explain the poetic devices I found in the poem.

Faith: There is a lot of faith in the movie because Josh Wheeten is a boy that believes in God and a person is trying to convince him to not be christian but the kid is fighting back but there are other people that have other stories that are sometimes sad stories because other people die. Prudence is described as wisdom in the ability to judge between the actions with interest to ride actions at age given time. Justice is the fairness virtue Temperance is known as restrain, self control, abstention and moderation.

Here Jimmy is indirectly characterized again as sly, untruthful and willing to take chances for his own betterment. On page 53 the author writes “he looked at her with a strange soft smile on his face and in his eyes.” This is the moment where the author indirectly reveals Jimmy’s change of heart. He was saying good bye to Annabel and accepting that he was the only one who could save Agatha. He knew this would cause him to be arrested.

You’ve heard the saying love can change you, but for Jimmy Valentine it turned his whole life around. Jimmy Valentine was a burglar, and a very good one at that.
