John Adams: A Strong-Willed Man

On October 19, 1735 at Braintree, Massachusetts, John Adams was born. After being named after his father John Adams was set out to following in this father’s footsteps. That’s why, at age six, he was sent to Dalme Belche’s House, where he was taught arithmetic, reading, and religion. At age eight he attended Braintree’s Latin School to prepare for Harvard. To continue his dream to Harvard his father hired Joseph Marsh.

The only son of a former President, John Quincy Adams was chosen by the House of Representatives when the electoral college could not determine a clear winner of the 1824 election. In 1803, Adams was elected to the Senate but his repeated displays of independence embargo caused his resignation. In 1809, Madison rewarded him for his support of Jefferson by appointing him minister to St. Petersburg. He helped negotiate the Treaty of Ghent in 1814. In 1815 became minister to London.

William Marbury one of the recipients that was chosen by John Adams, refuse to accept Jefferson’s decision and took matters into his own hands. The facts of the case were vividly sought out, Marbury was to be appointed as justice of peace and his paperwork was completed and ready to be submitted before he could take office.

For two terms, George Washington was the president of America. As the first president, Washington had to set the standards for what future presidents should do. John Adams was not a very liked president because Washington set the bar for the presidency pretty high. Adams was not a liked president for many reasons like the trouble with french, including setting off the XYZ affair, signing Jay’s Treaty, and sending the war fever through the United States, and one of the other reasons why Adams was not liked was the Alien and Sedition acts which violated the state's rights. The United States was having trouble with France because of the XYZ Affair, Jay’s Treaty, and a lot of people having war fever in the United states.

John Adams, Jr. Was the second President of the United States (1797-1801) after serving as the first vice president (1789-1797) under George Washington. Along with his presidential positions, Adams was also a diplomat, statesman, lawyer, author, and delegate to the Continental Congress. He was a leader in the age of American independence, promoting a strong central government. Adams assisted Jefferson in drafting the Declaration of Independence and played a key role in persuading Congress to declare independence from Britain. As the first United States Minister to the Court of St. James’s, or ambassador to Great Britain, Adams met with King James to negotiate a peace treaty between the two nations.

However, John Adams handled tough situations better than the other two presidents making him have a more powerful impact on this country than the other two presidents. Throughout Washington’s presidency he made some decisions

When he then graduated in 1755, and study at Harvard University. At the age of 20, John Adams was studying in law to become a lawyer.

John Adams was the second President of the United States. In George Washington’s Farewell Address, he stated numerous warnings. I believe that in his presidency, Adams did not heed all of Washington’s warnings. One reason that I believe Adams did not heed the warnings Washington issued is because he was part of a political party.

A hero is defined as a person who is caring, honorable, and put others’ needs before theirs. John Adams is a great example of a this. John Adams was born on October 20th, 1735 in Massachusetts.
