Macbeth is one of many Shakespearean plays but what makes this play unique is that the play was inspired by real dramatized Scottish history. Although this is a short play Macbeth shows the importance of being yourself and not going astray for power because it can lead to your downfall. From the witches' prophecies to Macbeth's death this includes many twists and challenges that surprise the audience. Macbeth's desire for wanting more although he had everything caused his downfall but what did push his desire to want more? As Lady Macbeth had heard all about the witches' prophecies she displays her desire for power and lets Macbeth know how much she wants him to become king by asking him to kill King Duncan. In Act I, Scene VI Shakespear shows us the true nature of Lady Macbeth, “Look like th’innocent flower, But be the serpent under’t”. This quote was placed in the play to show us the true deceptive nature of Lady Macbeth and her evil intentions under her innocent appearance, foreshadowing her manipulative nature. As the play progresses in Act II, Scene VII, Lady Macbeth begins to question Macbeth's soft nature and states, “Wouldst thou have that Which thou esteem’st the ornament of life And live a coward in thine own esteem, Letting “I dare not” wait upon “I would,” Like the poor cat i’ th’ adage?”As Macbeth begins to question if killing King Duncan is the right thing to do Lady Macbeth questions his masculinity and asks if he values his “ornament of life” (his honor and courage) as he is too afraid to act upon his
