The author explains how the the United States often comes across as oppressive and domineering. The speakers then proceeded to explain how the United States has limited the growth and progression of Latin American nations. The speakers are adamant that the United States has forever scarred many of these nations. However, other speakers argue that while the United States may have temporarily hindered the growth of some of these nations, many of the nations can grow stronger and healthier as a result of the support the United States has shown throughout the

There is nobody to open up to, nobody to help bear the weight of stressors, and nobody to empathise with. Almost everybody has experienced seclusion during their lifetime. While loneliness is less apparent in everyday life, it is a common motif in books.

If the fire of revolution will succeed in burning down the injustice it faces, it must first be started by a spark. While Latin America was still controlled by Trujillo, a fire was heating, but who was responsible for the flames? The spark was ignited by several people, but perhaps those who most fed the flames were the Mirabal sisters. Each sister moved past their fear to stand up for what was right and encouraged others to do the same. If it had not been for them, perhaps Latin America would never have been freed.

He realizes how this isolation makes him feel and describes it,

I felt isolated; I spent a lot of time alone". As a reader, this quote stood out because it portrayed how he was effected by the how he saw himself as a man, and how he dealt with his consciences and fear silently. It also shows that men are worried of what other people may think if they open up and expose their feelings so instead they keep it trapped

Throughout the world people are put to the test through isolation. On one hand some people learn how to cope with the darkness of solitude and on the other hand it puts the world in a whole new perspective for others both in and out of solitude. Isolation is a state of being where you are set apart from anything that has to do with society. While one is in this state for along period of time you start to lack intellectually compared to the people in society who are exposed to everything. Three texts that support and go along with this subject of isolation are Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Consolation of Philosophy by Boethius, and Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka.

Antonio Marez, a little boy living on the plains of the Ilano, and Crooks, an African American slave in the fields of California experience loneliness and isolation. In Anaya's Bless me Ultima and Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, Antonio and Crooks are isolated by both their society and their internal struggles to have a sense of belonging.

Walton has solitary feelings when deprived of like minded individuals but shares that way of thinking with the majority of people. Frankenstein feels solitude in the grief and guilt thrust upon him by the Creation’s cowardly crimes. Similarly, the Creation knows utterly solitary circumstances caused by Frankenstein’s fatherly fallacies. No one likes these solitary feelings, but everyone has them in some form or another. Important Quotes “Now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished” (Page 57) While very small in size, this passage has profound connotations.

In human nature, fear is a big part of how we act, but there is one thing that we are the most afraid of, loneliness. People are often social people, and when you take out the possibility of talking and communicating to someone, you will feel a kind of sadness. There are people who are absolutely fine with being lonely, but most of the human population will not be able to stand it. In Teju Cole’s book “Open City”, Cole creates a character that represents the sadness and fear of being alone. Loneliness is something that we can never get over, the main character in Open City, Julius, was forced to deal with the fact that he was indeed alone, without anyone there to comfort him, and even if he had found someone, it would not last long, and the only thing that Julius wants, is to able to be free.

THE FATHER, THE SON, AND LA CHINGADA: THE TRINITY OF THE CONQUEST ‘Lo Mexicano’ is a phrase-turned-concept in 20th century Mexican philosophy. The term literally translates to “the Mexican,” however, it is also used to superficially describe the identity of the Mexican individual. The notion came about after the revolution; the phrase was meant to emphasize and unite Mexico as an independent people. Today, the phrase is understood as an all encompassing term for “mexicanness,” or that which makes someone a true mexican.

The song All By Myself has a similar theme statement with the poem Alone written by Maya Angelou. It portrays a man who suffers from the pain of loneliness and isolation and conveys a message that humans are inherently social beings. The lyrics ' 'Some- times I feel so insecure/ And love so distant and obscure. ' ' demonstrate the fact that loneliness is a serious issue which can create a persistent, self-reinforcing loop of negative thoughts, behaviors and sensations.

What is solitude? Solitude is the time a person spends alone, hopefully the person is doing something that they enjoy. Sometime I take time out my day to write poetry alone in quiet room. While being alone, I am able to express myself in ways that is therapeutic. I look forward to being alone, it’s like my reward after completing everything else.

Such experiences tell us about the horror of being alone in a meaningless world where no one else understands the experiences one has. Solitude is utterly terrifying. However, at the same time, one seems to be attracted towards it. He returns the call by alienating himself from everything around him, and by crossing to the other side where no one can reach him. It gives him another perspective to the world around him.
