My Personal Leadership Philosophy Having an idea is something which could be done by many, but ability to proceed the idea into real action is a caracteristic of a person with a leadership. Leadership is also about being able to take risks, creating a confidence and trust, ability to inspire and stay inspired. Leaders differ with their approach. My approach as a leader goes through being able to listen, staying honest in my response, being committed to my goals, bringing creative solutions to the problems, keeping my word, having a positive approach towards everything I do, and staying calm and condfident even in a very stressful situations. The qualities I lack as a leader is the ability to delegate the responsibilities and keeping my temper …show more content…
When stress is high, resources limited, results not satisfying it is easy to give up, but only very strong leaders keep reminding themselves who they believe they are and keep on striving for their goal, while trying to improve their limited characteristics and abilities. Some may think that if you are a leader you don’t have a right for a mistake or a failure, but not me. As a leader I am lacking the ability to delegate the task and/or responsibility to others. I would like to mention that this is not a one-time failure, I come face-to-face with this challenge repeatedly. It is an important factor in leadership which is the sign of strength, but whenever I passed on the work to others for the most of the time I have been disappointed. May be I could not communicate the message well enough. Having the vision and idea in mind is one thing, the ability to clearly and sufficiently describe what you want done is different and extremely important. Or maybe I failed to identify the right person for the right task. While working in a team or in my personal life in the family I usually fail to delegate the job to others and I end up working on my own which in some cases could result in inability to control my temper in under work load. Showing off aggression you can keep the others from being honest with you to not create the same situation again. This may in its turn damage the aspects of the relationship within the team such as relaxed communication, honesty and

Running head: UNIT ONE ASSIGNMENT 1 UNIT ONE ASSIGNMENT 6 Unit One Assignment ? Leadership and You Michelle Kinyungu Kaplan University GM502-01: Leadership Theory and Practice I Dr. Wolf March 5, 2016 Unit One Assignment ? Leadership and You Introduction Leadership is defined as the ability to lead a group of people or an institution towards a common goal.
For a person to find his or her path in the world and to lead others effectively, one need to develop a clear vision of what she or he is aiming to accomplish and be able to communicate that vision with others to gain support. However, each person has a different vision and as a leader one’s personal vision, influence the kind of the personal leadership philosophy; he or she has. This explains why different people, demonstrate a different personal leadership philosophy. In short, personal leadership philosophy consists of, how a person views leadership and describes how he or she regards himself as a leader. Creating a leadership philosophy is a personal process which enables a person to understand what she or he believe leadership is all about
Why is being a good leader important to me? Growing up I was always told it is important to be a leader not a follower, this gave me high aspirations. Leadership qualities help me meet my high expectations in education, co-curricular activities, volunteering and in my personal time. Leadership helps me to surpass others while reaching for my career goals. I am a student with a very demanding schedule and grades are my top priority.
Leadership is something I take part in daily. Since I am senior at my school, younger students tend to look up to me as a role model. I play three sports in which I show leadership in and teach others leadership as well. The sport I represent leadership best in, is basketball. I lead the team huddles, say positive things to keep my teammates under control, and I show a player a drill or play if they don't understand it.
Leadership is a characteristic defined simply as the ability to lead, but in my life leadership has taken a much more profound meaning. Leadership to me is more than doing a few more administrative responsibilities for the sake of holding a title, or a simple trait that somebody is born with. Leadership, instead, is a unique blend of qualities and characteristics that allow one to be a talented leader and therefore exhibit leadership, a blend that I believe I have embodied. While my application does detail a multitude of leadership positions that I have attained over my high school career, it lacks a metric to assess how one truly performed in their position as a leader, so I feel as if my application would feel incomplete without detailing
A “personal philosophy” is not designed for a particular place and time. It is a broad template for taking command of self. Thinking through and recording how we intend to lead and serve can be remarkably productive. As with strategic planning, the process is often worth more than the product.
A Leader regardless of what they are leading needs to have certain qualities, and anyone that doesn’t possess the following characteristic shouldn’t be a leader, nor would they be best. First he/she needs to have self confidence in order to have confidence towards others in order to carry out any work. Empathy; a leader needs to realize and understand that the feelings of others does effect the work place and should be respected. Organization is at the top of the list of outstanding qualities for a leader, and being prepared for anything such as meetings and events makes a leader look stronger and more productive. Leadership is obviously shown the novel “Lord of the Flies”, by: William Golding; for example when Jack wants to have control in
As the semester and course have progressed, I’ve grown tremendously in my views of leadership, education, and the importance of diversity in a community. That being said, my philosophy of leadership has also been altered to reflect the knowledge I’ve obtained. I defined leadership at the beginning of the semester as setting a positive example through my actions for those who I’m leading. I emphasized that leadership is an active, rather than passive role, and should involve daily engagements with residents and openness to constructive criticism. Although my current definition isn’t drastically different from my last, I failed to recognize the one thing central to Christian Leadership: Jesus.
Being a leader involves more than just being in charge of a group. Good leaders make decisions, but great leaders involve their communities in the decision-making. There are many challenging, yet rewarding, aspects of being a leader. The greatest of these is inspiring change in a community. As a leader, my goal is to influence people around me and have them care about their community as much as I do.
What is leadership? Leadership is defined as the power or ability to lead other people. What is a leader? A leader is a person whom other people follow in order to reach their desired goal. How have I been a leader to others?
Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader success is all about growing others. (Jack Welch) What leadership means to me is the action of leading a group of people or an organization. To me being a good leader means to speak up when you see something wrong or try to stop them if you can.

Leadership Philosophy Graeme Jones, BMCS, USCGR Senior Enlisted Leadership Course: Session 64 Introduction Leadership is the practice of inspiring others to act in furtherance of a cause. My philosophy was formed early in my career as I crossed courses with both skilled and unskilled practitioners. I have had many opportunities to refine my practice by reflecting on actions I have taken that have not had the desired effect or were not sustainable. The foundations of my leadership philosophy rests on three pillars: Trust; discipline and accountability.
