By mid-century there will likely be 9 billion people on the planet. Although it sounds amazing there will only be two billion people more than we are today. Comparing to the 3 billion people who dwelled the planet at the beginning of the 20th century the growing population rate will have diminished significantly. In spite of this last fact humans will be consuming ever more resources and leading ever more technologically complex lives.
The majority of people will live in urban areas, but these areas won’t look as the cities as we know them. Megacities will have disappeared by the end of our century. Small urban areas, with small slaughter houses, small creameries and small regional food operations will be favored, and our health with it too. We will live longer than people from today. Urbanization trends will reinvent the education system, making our economy less real estate driven and the divisions between home and work will have been erased. Working and studying from home will make public buildings such as schools and offices disappear. More space for high raise apartments will be left and real-state location will have become unimportant, due to the lack of
“According to [the 1920 census], 51.2 percent of Americans lived in communities with populations of 2,500 to more than 1 million. Between 1922 and 1929, migration to the cities accelerated, with nearly 2 million people leaving farms and towns each year” (Danzer 640). Urban areas were growing at an incredible rate. Urban growth has only accelerated in modern times. According to the US Census Bureau, in 2020, 80% of the total population of the US is in urban areas (“2020 Census Urban Areas Facts”).
The dependency of oil has grown to an alarming number. This valuable commodity can only last for a short amount of time. What happens when the world is completely depleted of this liquid gold that is used in our everyday lives? The documentary The End of Suburbia highlights how dependent America has become on oil products. The Documentary shows the actuality of how long the Earth can sustain the amount of oil depletion, peak oil consequences and environmental effects of oil use.
As with the Industrial Revolution, the Robot Revolution has too been faced with many adversaries. As in the past many claim that it would be end of society as we know it, so does Craig Lambert in “Our Unpaid, Extra Shadow Work.” Lambert argues against the automation of, what use to be, human jobs. Lambert, an editor and writer at the Harvard Magazine, argues that automation has lead to a loss of 3 million jobs (861). Lambert also exclaims that “the robots are in charge now, pushing a thousand routine tasks onto our backs” (862).
Before all this happen manufacturing was done in homes now it's all in factories, new inventions took over people's jobs, farmers don't need to do the work because of how much technology increased.
American Urbanization started like a wildfire and it spread so rapidly that facilities and institutions in society could not keep up. From 1850 to 1900 America completely changed from its agricultural state into a new industry based society. The four paramount changes that occured during America’s urbanization period were new immigration, the build up of cities (skyscrapers and mass transit), living conditions, and boss rule and the rise of mass consumption. Even though the changes during urbanization did not come easily due to immense diversity, they still paved the way to modern day America.
Patrick lin makes the reader think and analyze the possible outcome of the robotic industry. As stated in the essay “With the new development of robotics, it almost makes you do some soul searching on what really makes us human.” His humorous idea about robots overthrowing the world is funny, but, when you think about in a real standpoint and how technology is being made to have a mind of its own, it’s not a far-fetched
- The importance of Harriet Tubman is, she was an abolitionist and freed hundreds of slaves out of slavery. She returned at least 19 times. Owe to the development of technology, the quality of our lives has increased in a great extent. Our daily lives are now more and more convenient and pleasant since most of the tasks can be done more efficiently with the help of technologies like smartphones and the Internet; furthermore, some difficult tasks can even be done completely by robots. However, various social issues appear inevitably along the advancement of the civilization. People started to wonder whether they rely on technology way too excessively as an outcome when they realized one may feel lost and disconnected without technologies like the Internet and cellphones. It has become an universal debate: Is the technology transforming our civilization into Utopia?
Throughout history, the human has always envisioned living a lifestyle where chores were considered as a part of the past. With the development of humanoids and androids robots in the 1950’s, chores were really becoming part of the past. Therefore, because robots were able to adapt and meet the needs and wants of humans. As a result, we started to see an increase in both the use and production of robots in factories and households. In the article “The Robot Invasion” the author Charlie Gills, is really able to convey the relevance and effectiveness of a robot through the use of the tone, purpose, and credibility.
When Huxley wrote the novel Brave New World he envisioned a world 600 years in the future. Although many of the things that Huxley writes about is very farfetched, other things are relatable, in fact some of them have already occurred. For example Huxley states that in the future we will have the ability to create children in test tube, modern day science has enabled us to come very close to that very same prediction. “The complete mechanisms were inspected by eighteen identical curly auburn girls in Gamma green, packed in crates by thirty four short legged, left-handed male Delta Minuses, and loaded into the waiting trucks and lorries by sixty three blue-eyed, flaxen and freckled Epsilon Semi Morons” (p.160). This is an example from the book about how they create the children.
Global Warming Proposal Introduction The phenomenon of constant increase in the earth’s temperature is known as global warming. The excessive use of fossil fuels is destroying our environment as well as wildlife. It is a great threat to human life too, as this activity is causing intense pollution and also results in damaging the ozone layer.
A world of robots working in factories, markets, schools, companies, and limited amount of work space for humans that’s what is going on. The things we saw in movies and what we were dreaming is all becoming reality. Recently, technology has been improving in a very rapid pace. Technology, such as smart phones, tablets, and television, made our lives easier and more convenient. Now people can click a button and deliver food or items they want anywhere.
It is commonly known throughout human history that the energy used is burned from coal which creates biomass. During the Industrial Revolution, coal was an essential need to everyone, hence the discovery of oil as a substitute. Yet, the mass formation from the unearthing of oil causes more damage than benefits for the planet. Humanity had never seen a more compatible source in which came a higher demand for oil. As the public has urged to generate more oil, scientists theorized that fossil fuels will eventually run out, making way for a renewable energy route in the future (Mason).
The Earth is a beautiful place, there is no doubt about that. Now the future is questionable due to all the manufacturing and oil drilling we’ve done. However, not only those actions are to blame, we have all played our part. Humans have created a new world, the Anthropocene. The Anthropocene is defined as the idea that we have entered a new epoch in Earth’s geological history.
As technology and robotics progress, people continue to debate how jobs and careers could be affected. Robotic replacement might not have a negative effect , especially since it has helped our development to be able to survive. The process of the robotic development started in the industrial age. The industrial age is known for “a period in which fundamental changes
