Life Depicted In Natasha Preston's The Cellar

Burro Genius is a memoir of Victor Villaseñor, it is a great book for people to read, it describes all the horrible experiences and how misunderstood he was growing up. The book Burro Genius does a really good job of telling Victor Villaseñor story and how hard it was growing up in the United States being Mexican. The books starts off with him attending a conference for new authors; he was the speaker of the event, but when he began to talk about all of the bad experiences he had growing up everybody was shocked and could not believe what he was saying. Then the book transitions into him being five years old and attending school for the very first time.

T. Ray didn’t understand what was going and why lily would run away there. T-Ray had slap Lily hands hard and she fell back on the statue of Mary. He kicks her and tells her he’s not leaving him again. T-ray had a knife out and didn’t realize it was Lily. He was confused and started to yell at Lily as if she was her mother Deborah.

June decides to walk back to Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation on foot and falls out of the car and into the cold. While on foot across open fields a heavy, white snowstorm falls and June is unable to make it home that night. It was Easter Day when June’s family received a letter that June went missing in the snowstorm and has passed away.

This book is a coming-of-age novel because, throughout the story, Daunis’s mentality dramatically shifts; she becomes wiser and more knowledgeable. There are three main things that set off this change: handling grief, working undercover, and learning to move on. Overall, these things shape Daunis on her journey to adulthood. Daunis needed time to mourn before she could grow. Toward the novel's beginning, Daunis stated that her uncle died in April.

Clover chose a girl who lives in the streets and have families that don’t care about them. That’s how he chose his perfect flowers. They four perfect flower were trapped in a cellar with no way to contact the outside world.

This story ‘Tomorrow when the War began,’ by John Marsden is about Australia being invaded by another country. Due to this invasion a character Ellie and her friends become isolated from their families in Wirrawee. The group of teenagers are imposed to discover their hidden strengths and learn important values and lessons about the real world they live in. These values and lessons begin with gaining courage and strength, learning how to fend for themselves when they come to a point where there is just them to fight for their country. To be more in depth of this novel it starts off when a group of teenagers come back from camp and slowly start to realize that something is terribly wrong, that their country has been invaded.

In the story Ashes of Roses written by MJ Auch, point of view contributes to the overarching theme. The story begins with a young girl named Rose immigrating from Ireland, to the U.S., through Ellis Island. During one of the inspections, Rose’s little brother Joseph is denied entry due to the disease Trachoma. Rose, her two younger sisters, and her mother enter N.Y. by themselves. During the entry to N.Y. through Ellis Island, immigrants were required to have relatives in the city to pick them up.

Finally, Bethany Hamilton’s memoir follows Zinsser’s advice to “Think small” as each chapter switches from past to present. The chapters have short titles that show the reader if it is past or present. These memories are important to the reader and author of the memoir because there would not be a memoir without it. For example, after Bethany got out of the hospital, she immediately started training for surfing once she got out of the hospital. This memory is a very strong and inspiring because she learns how to tie her shoes with one hand and surf with one hand.

” Life goes on in the Lee household, and eventually Lydia finds herself a sophomore in high school.
