Although most antagonist share a lot of the same traits as the villain with being conniving, evil, and looking for a way to sabotage the protagonist, Hamlet’s Claudius and The Lion King’s Scar are significantly different. They of course aim for the same motives, but the way they go about situations and their overall personas are like night and day. To start off, they both have extremely different relationships with the protagonist. Claudius from the beginning wants to be on good terms with Hamlet, with reminding him that he’s now not only his uncle, but his stepfather.

Although that may be true, it must be remembered that there is more to a story than the plot. Viewing both works in terms of character development, tone, motive, theme, and more, the two greatly differ. Within both works, the main characters’ fathers reaches out to them in a ghostly or spiritual manner but for very different reasons. In The Lion King, Simba runs away from his homeland and later on was lead to a spiritual version of his father.

Polonius Vs. Zazu When comparing and contrasting William Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Disney’s The Lion King the characters have similiar levels of comparison. Both Hamlet and the Lion King are stories centered around the following elements; truth, deception, revenge, romance, and the circle of life. The characters in both of the stories are constantly working to find their place in the circle of life throughout the story.

Macbeth, one of William Shakespeare’s most famous plays, is a tragedy about one man rising to the top to subsequently fall. The Lion King is an animated Disney movie about a lion cub learning about life while on the run following his father’s death. The Lion King and Macbeth compare to certain multitudes, as well as contrast to a certain degree. Similarities and differences between the movie and play are shown between Duncan and Mufasa, Malcolm and Simba, Macbeth and Scar, the three witches and Rafiki, and the theme of appearance versus reality. Similar to King Duncan, Mufasa was a fantastic king.

Once in our lives, we must embark on a journey to find ourselves. Though the destination may be the essential goal, the real reward is finding the hero within during the journey. Disney’s The Lion King begins with the birth of a lion cub named Simba. After a tragic accident, which kills his father, Mufasa, Simba is forced to run away from his home and his uncle, Scar, takes over Pride Rock.

As with all written works that are turned into movies, Hamlet the movie was different from Hamlet the play. One difference that I noted was the time setting of the story. The play is set in the late middle ages while the movie representation is set in the modern era. Another difference that I noted was that Hamlet in the movie, as well as Ophelia in the movie, seemed a lot crazier than I had pictured when reading the play. Hamlet was represented as psychotic in the movie, while in the play I pictured a man who was crazy over the death of his father, the marriage of his mother, and his love for Ophelia, but not to the point of an absolute psychotic man.

Some of the other cultural differences but similarities in the movie is that the families both have some type of power and wealth within their subcultures. The power and wealth in the African culture are that when the African family is having breakfast and the Prince is talking with his parents and talks about him turning

In William Shakespeare’s Tragedy “Macbeth” and the well-known comedy story of Lion King, the demise of Ducan, comparing to the death of Mufasa, as well as the consequence of conspiracy and revenge conducted in both stories, are similar. In fact, “The Lion King’s storyline is also influenced by William Shakespeare’s Macbeth” (The Lion King). Both stories contain the plot of seizing the throne by a conspirator, the death of the king, the fleeing of origin descendant of the throne, and a victorious revenge at last. Despite having the similar outcome for the conspiracy conducted in both the story of “Macbeth” and “Lion King”, the distinctive perspectives of protagonists, different nature in characters and distinguished motivations for the conspiracies

From the very beginning of the drama, a ghost walks the parapet of Elsinore Castle in Denmark and asks for Hamlet for revenge. Horatio, a friend of Hamlet, saw a ghost who resembled the dead king of Denmark who wanted to take revenge of his unlawful death. His brother Claudius not only inherited the throne illegally by killing his own blood brutally and got married the widow queen, Gertrude to save the throne. Claudius was a power monger and he got that by hook or crook.

In more ways than one the world of Disney has somewhat interacted in the world of Shakespeare. Hamlet and The Lion King ,all though years apart in the making, have been drafted to be almost similar with little to no differences. They are similar in the ways of the plot and the moral background, but different as far as the ending transition of Hamlet and Simba are combined. The plot of Hamlet and The Lion King alike are about an Uncle to the King, or a heir next in line to the throne trying to gain power. Thus including some of the main characters being the King, the Queen, the King and Queen’s son, the son’s first love, his first loves’ father, two of the son’s instigating friends, and of course the son’s one and only true friend.

The story of Hamlet by William Shakespeare is a story of betrayal, revenge, and intrigue. Hamlet, the title character discovers that his uncle killed his father and married his mother effectively stealing the throne. Hamlet decides he must kill his uncle Claudius as revenge for what he had done. However, as the new king, Hamlet isn't sure how to get to him, so he decides to fake madness, but his plan backfires as Claudius doesn't trust him and makes sure he is always watched. In his fumbled plan for revenge, Hamlet accidentally kills Polonius, forces Polonius's son Laertes to seek revenge against him, and drives Ophelia crazy causing her to kill herself.

The differences and similarities between Hamlet and Laertes are pronounced, and they merit rigorous scrutiny. There are similarities and differences between Laertes and Hamlet. Hamlet is good in many ways, but he also has many flaws. Hamlet is a very loyal individual.

Just like the people of Ithaca, Hamlet didn’t just forget about his king, and his father. He yearned to figure it out. Most characters in Hamlet are very loyal, Laertes, Hamlet, Horatio, and Fortinbras, all show their loyalty throughout the play. Whether it’s starting an army to avenge their father, or creating a subterfuge, it’s evident that loyalty is a big part of the play. It was this display of loyalty that helped make both stories so timeless and make them still relevant
