The city of Lakeville consists of over 36 square miles of land and 1.7 square miles of water. Lakeville’s Park and Recreation Department maintains a total of 62 properties, mainly consisting of parks, athletic fields, trails, and beaches. Within the city there are more than 100 miles of pedestrian and bike trails and 1,400 acres of public parks and open space. The most notable parks include: Antlers Park: With so many options to experience the outdoors, Antler’s Park is one the most popular destinations in Lakeville. Located on the east side of Lake Marion, Antlers Park offers numerous ways to enjoy the city’s large lake with amenities like a swimming beach, fishing pier, and waterfront access for boating.

Tennessee became a state June 1, 1796, and now consists of 95 counties. Counties are what makes up a state and breaks down different subdivisions, without these counties states would have no direction and be one enormous blob.

The hurricane became a hurricane when it was going across the atlantic ocean. It got 500 miles wide as it was coming to the east coast. When it eventually hit New England the wind speed was 155 mph which is obviously fast enough to blow someone off there own two feet. To top all of this off there was flooding from the hurricane. The flooding was 14ft high.

The neighborhood of Lincolnville was established after the Civil War by freed slaves and, is in the oldest city in America, St. Augustine. The settlement was first called Little Africa, however, when the streets were paved in 1878 the community became known as Lincolnville in honor of Abraham Lincoln (1). The Lincolnville District is St. Augustine 's most well-known black neighborhood and has been a part of many important events in not only African American history, but also St. Augustine’s and America. Racism and segregation in the South during the late 19th century and early 20th allowed for black businesses to be established and then for them to grow and prosper. I grew up in Long Beach, New York which is located approximately 45 minutes away from Manhatten. Long Beach is a tourist town and our small four square mile town doubled in population, from 33,000 to 60,000 people over the summer months. Growing up by the beach was something I took for granted at the time because I was not aware of what a luxury that was until I moved to the middle of Indiana for college. There are two main things you can do in Long Beach and that is going to the beach or eating out. Other than that the town is fairly uneventful.

The flooding has makes walking the streets dangerous as the muddy water can hide sharp objects along with holes. The Great New England Hurricane of 1938 was one of the most destructive and devastating hurricanes in history. The conditions (strong winds, pouring rain, and high waves) are a large part of what made the storm so powerful, but the element of surprise and the speed at which it traveled were what caused so many losses.
