Schoolboys lose their innocence
Lust and greed are more gullible than innocence by Mason Cooley. In the book Lord of Flies , schoolboys from England crashed on an island , near the Pacific. Their innocence starts to slowly drift away as the longer they stay at the island. The boys tried to keep their connection to the adult world , but the boys were losing hope. The schoolboys lost their innocence by killing a mama pig , killing another school boy named Simon and hunting down another school boy named Ralph, to the point of almost killing him.
In the first days of the boys on the island, the schoolboys killed a mama pig. When the boys divided and hunted down the mama pig the first time, the boys weren't able to kill the pig. “This dreadful eruption from an unknown world made her frantic:she squealed and bucked and the air was full of sweat and noise and blood and terror”

The schoolboys were in another frenzy to hunt down Ralph. Ralph knows there is no going back to how they were. “Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man’s heart, and the fall through the air of the true , wise friend Piggy” (Golding 202). Once Ralph was found by the naval officer, he knew that the schoolboys innocence was gone. He knew that Piggy would never come back, and that all of this could've been avoided. All of the boys life have fallen apart, and lives have been taken. The school boys, are not school boys anymore.
The schoolboys have lost their innocence on the island. Many lives have been taken, the mama pig, Piggy, Simon, and almost Ralph. The boys killed a mama pig horrifically and offered it to the Lord of the Flies. Then Simon died by being stabbed and beaten to death. Summary: Ralph along with a plane full of boys have just crashed on to this island, everyone is scattered, so initially Ralph and Piggy are the only two boys. The beach is very hot and the boys go for a swim in a lagoon. After there swim they find a seashell they can use as a horn. Slowly boys from all over begin to appear and all sit in front of Ralph as Piggy learns there names. A group of choir boys approach the group, with their leader being a boy named Merridew.

When the boys get stranded on this island they must take care of themselves and try to get rescued. As the boys climb this mountain to get home they face new challenges which resulted them to descend into savagery. With these new challenges of killing the pig for the first time, them breaking the conch, and deaths of Simon and Piggy they to descend into savagery causing them to lose their innocence. After the boys crash landed on the island it was only a matter of time before the boys descend into savagery because lack of leadership, need for survival and loss of innocence. Their first goal on the island was to have fun and get rescued but throughout their stay, they get further away from that.
In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, young boys get stranded on an island with no adults in the midst of a war. The boys were orderly and civilized in the beginning but then as they began killing pigs they slowly became savages and lost their civilization. The boys began turning on each other and the evil within them became present. Golding uses a variety of literary devices including personification, symbols, metaphors, and irony, to project the theme that pure and realistic people in the world can be unheard and destroyed by evil.

Lord of the Flies is about young boys who survive an airplane crash during a world war. The boys try their best to survive but poor leadership, misbehaving kids, and the loss of civility send the group in a bad direction. Jack is responsible for the end of the downfall of the boys on the island because he becomes hyper-focused on hunting, his desperate need for power, and Jack’s unwillingness to follow the rules.
Although Ralph may be a good leader and Piggy may be smart, they both have evil inside of them and want to be a part of Simon’s murder. Ralph and Piggy are nowhere near being savages at this point, but their love of death still shows, even if they regret it later. Their savagery is just the result of the evil human nature inside of them that is left unchecked by civil society. On the island, the boys do not have the benefit of civilization, so they revert to human nature and instinct for survival.

A world war takes place as a group of boys get stranded on an island. As the boys try to escape the war, it follows them onto the island in the form of a never ending conflict with how to survive. As the boys become engaged in this war they lose their innocence. In the Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, loss of innocence plays a big role in the outcome of the book. Loss of innocence is ultimately what leads to the war which takes place on the once “good island” (Golding 34).
No Piggy to talk sense, no Simon, and Samneric wasn’t by his side. Eric says, “Ralph, Jack, the chief, says it’ll be dangerous and we’ve got to be careful and throw our spears like at a pig. We’re going forward from this end until we find you.” (Golding, 170). Ralph has worked tirelessly to retain the structure of civilization and maximize the chances of being rescued.
