World War 2 On September,1st, 1939 the world changed forever. World War 2 had started. It was a grim day for the families of the soldiers that would never return, But for the family of a certain soldier that proved his worth on the battlefield, and his name is Marc Jermend. He was a good working man who had grown to be about 23 years old, and barely 160 pounds. For his size he was the hardest working soldier the 24th infantry division had seen in a long time. He was constantly moving, and if he was not moving supplies from the helicopter drops to the trucks for civilians he was moving ammunition for the soldiers. Marc was also renowned as the best shot in the hole U.S infantry division. All these skills lead to the dreadful day on August,31st 1941 the day before the U.S entered WW2 (World War 2) on that day Marc was tasked to take 19 of his best men on a likely futile mission deep …show more content…
The day before the squadron left for russia where they would enter this war. Once in russia the first thing that struck the crew was the sheer amount of people they had less guns than people, and one man would follow the man with the gun with plenty of ammo. They watched as the jet that had brought them from the forward operating base in Canada to “The Gates” in Russia. Marc turned to his men, and told them to finish taking their supplies to the bunks and to phone home if they wanted as this was the last time they may do so. Marc promptly turned and made a fast pace towards the officer 's tent, and on the way looked to his right to see a child no more than 14 years of age walking towards the gates he promptly stopped turned and grabbed the boys ammunition and tossed it to the nearest man. Then he grabbed the boy by the back of the jacket and threw him on the next boat going across the canal back towards moscow. Marc then continued to the officer 's tent where he met the first women officer in Russia,

The second world war (WWII) was one of the most widespread and deadliest wars. This lasted for six years from 1939 to 1945. During this war, Hitler was appointed chancellor of Germany, causing the Holocaust. Because of this, more than fifty million military and civilians died. At the time, Elie Wiesel was fifteen years old when him and his family were forced to leave their home.
There were many conflicts, invasions, treaties, plans, etc. that were being executed between the years 1919-1940 after the end of WWI. I strongly agree with the idea that World War II had started before the year 1939. In 1932, the Chaco war broke out between Bolivia and Paraguay. In 1932 as well, Manchuria, China was invaded by Japan, and in 1935, Abyssinia, Ethiopia was invaded by Italy.
Almost 30 children were rescued off an island after their plane crashed about a month before on their return to England. They were returning on an airplane from a temporary boarding school that was designed like hundreds of others to avoid from involving children in this war. Ironically, this pack of children met their own misfortune. The boys were discovered very tattered and beat up, almost unrecognizable from their previous selves. Sadly, 2 boys perished on the island during this month, Simon Shayman and David Porkington.
Kalief Browder was only 16 when he was sent to Rikers Island, one of the cruelest juvenile prisons in the nation, for being accused of stealing a backpack but with no evidence to support. He spent around two years in solitary confinement which drove him to attempt suicide many times. He was abused every day by inmates and prison guards for no reason at all. In his three years he was waiting for a trial which should not have taken longer than six months to complete. His mother spoke out to the public, waiting for his justice to be repaid every day and for her sons return.

Marc was a very good man and patriot. Marc was a very supportive guy and firmly believed in what they were doing in Iraq. When needed Marc was willing to do anything for his teammates without hesitation. The song I found that I believe explains Marc is “American Soldier” by Toby Keith. The line that really portrays Marc is; “ I’m an American Soldier, and American, Beside my brothers and my sisters I will proudly take a stand, When liberty’s in jeopardy I will always do what’s right, I’m out here on the front lines”(Keith).
The person had to deal with death and the reality of war under the worst case scenario. Bob “Rat” Kiley was that soldier and one of the many soldiers that left something in the war. He had lost his friend Curt Lemon and that’s the first sign that the war has been turning to be painful for him. This coping mechanism for the death was to write letters to lemon’s sister and he shot a baby Water Buffalo. This coping mechanism is seen in the chapter “How to tell a true war story”, shows how he has been affected and explained the toll the war had taken on him.
World War II was a global war that covering every continent and most countries in the world. Starting in 1939 and continues until the end in 1945, although there were a conflicts began earlier. The real cause of this war is still debating. Whether it is the unfair ofTreaty of Versailles, world economic problem, the failure of League of Nations, the usurpation of power by some group of people, etc.
In The Things They Carried, the author, Tim O’Brien creates a view of women from the perspectives of soldiers as a symbol of innocence and pleasure. The symbol/role of women and femininity is often altered through the eyes of the disparate soldiers. O’ Brien depicts women that reminds some soldiers of their families, while some are reminded of their lovers. Through the presence of women, the soldiers are frequently distracted from their current situation, molding the nature of serenity.
