Martin Luther King Junior was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968. It was about six o'clock, Martin Luther King Junior was standing on the balcony of the second floor room at the Lorraine Motel, where he and his associates were staying. A few moments later he was shot in the neck with a sniper’s bullet, King was rushed to the hospital and about an hour later pronounced dead at the age of 39. News of King's death shocked Americans all over the country. His death caused rioting in more than 100 cities all over the country. During a wave of national mourning President Lyndon B.
