Animals at the Vanderburgh Humane Society got involved in the Halloween spirit Tuesday. Staff at the VHS not only served candy for the kids but provided appropriate treats for their four legged friends. VHS officials hope by opening up their doors for the holiday they would get a different set of eyes on the adoptable pets. "We just thought it would be a really nice way to get some people to come by and do something for free with their kids if they are already out in costume anyway because we 're open to the public anyway from 12 to 6 so we just thought we 'd add a Halloween twist to our normal day," says VHS Development Coordinator Amanda Coburn.

Dear Chair of the Academic Standards and Readmissions Committee, I am writing to express my earnest desire for readmission into the veterinary program at Kansas State University starting this upcoming fall semester. I hope that I can convey through this letter my sincere appreciation for what this program has gifted me and the lengths I am willing to go to in order to earn back my spot as a student at Kansas State University. I would like the chance to prove that the grades I received last semester are not indicative of my passion and respect for veterinary medicine, nor do they define my potential for being an exceptional veterinarian. Since receiving my dismissal letter, I have been reflecting on where things went well for me this year and
I have basic knowledge of veterinary medicine that many people don’t have until college. This helped me out a lot while working at the barn. Every so often Tufts Veterinary School students would come to our facilities to work with the animals. Tufts did not have as diverse of an animal selection as us. What I quickly found out was that some
My career choice is to be a small animal veterinarian, which basically means I will be working with pets. I will work with pets such as: dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, etc. Being a small animal veterinarian means I will Examine, diagnose and treat animals, prescribe and administer animal medications, take blood and skin tissue samples and perform diagnostic tests, perform surgery on animals. To be a small animal veterinarian I will have to be able to put up with: loud noises, smells, stubborn pets, people, messes, and blood.
When one thinks of a veterinarian, most associate this job title with treating dogs, cats, horses, cows, and other farm and companion animals. However, a relatively small field not known by the general population is that of marine veterinary medicine. If one has a passion for the water and a desire to help the creatures in it, marine veterinary medicine just may be the perfect career. Marine veterinarians are responsible for “conducting basic exams and evaluations, giving vaccinations, taking samples of blood and other bodily fluids, prescribing and distributing medication, evaluating behaviour, performing surgical procedures, and taking x-rays and sonograms” (Kramer “Life of an Aquatic Veterinarian”).
Firstly, through significant symbols, Hill criticizes the discriminatory attitudes directed at Africans to bring attention to the mistreatment and promote appropriate viewpoints when it comes to people of colour. To begin, a prominent use of symbolism present in the novel is domestic dogs, which represent a similar and inhumane comparison to slaves, who are often treated worse than animals. Slaves belong to a master and "the best approach was to follow the buckra's conversation like a well-trained dog" (Hill 148). The comparison between a dog and a slave is made to exhibit how Africans are not treated as if they were equal to humans, but rather on the same level as domestic house pets. Moreover, slaves are treated as objects with the sole purpose of
Animal cruelty is becoming an issue that is too big to ignore. It can be defined as neglect or the infliction of pain or suffering towards animals. One might notice that this is an issue that is becoming more common in zoos and aquariums. These places can be wonderful for the animals, but can also portray an awful life for the captive animals. No animal should have to go through the pain and stress that many are suffering through.
As a large animal vet you would only take care of large animals such as horses, cows, and pigs these are only a few. If you became a vet assistance you would help
Veterinarian medicine requires immense knowledge on many different animals’ structures and how they think. Since veterinarian medicine requires extensive knowledge, going to college is a worthy investment because you have to know about the equipment and animals you are working with. Before students go off to college, there are a few things they could do to stand out and have a higher chance of getting into the college of their choice. When students are in high school looking at colleges, they start to realize colleges do not accept everyone who applies. Some things students could do to stand out would be job shadowing veterinarians to see if that’s something they would really want to do.
