What went well these past few weeks was that I was able to pick the winner for our social media Memorial Day contest. The couple who won was nominated by their cousin and I was very happy that they were able to win. Another thing that went well was a few weeks ago we ordered poster and they finally arrived. So I was able to hand them out to some local apartment buildings in the area. I also learned how to use photo shop so I can now edit their and improve the quality of the pictures I take of the furniture. What went poorly was that for a few days we were having internet problems so I could not accomplish everything I wanted to get done. It was a little frustrating because most of what I do involves the internet, but I was able to keep myself busy by editing some pictures and brainstorming new ideas to market the …show more content…
Although no new customers have bought any furniture on inselly it is good to get Imagination Furnishings name out there. I was also really happy that customers were asking about furniture I posted on Etsy. I think my performance and coming up with new ideas for how to increase sales for the businesses has been good. I can improve by doing more research, planning out creative post, and take the time to follow Imagination Furnishings compition to see what they are doing and how they are growing their social media pages.
The part I feel that I am lacking on is growing the social media pages. It is really hard to get people to like your Facebook page or follow the Instagram. My goal for next week is to look more into how to grow your businesses social media. People are viewing our content which is good, I think I need to be more creative and really take the time to figure out how to grow and make post more creative. People tell me it takes some time but I feel that I need to really do some
The book, Veterans Day by J.J. Jorgens emphasizes the plight of neglected veterans in the United States of America. It presents a story about Mary Jane Morris, a female private detective. One Halloween night, she received an urgent voice message from her ex-partner, Davy, and she rushed to his office only to find him dead. Altogether, it looked like Davy committed suicide, but Mary Jane's instinct told her that there was more to her ex-partner's death. She felt Davy intentionally called her so that she could be the first person to discover his body; he wanted her to obtain clues about his killer.
In some of the pieces of literature like “I, Too, Sing America,” “America and I,” “The Bill of Rights,” and “Veterans Day: Never Forget Their Duty” the authors have different ideas of what it means to be American. They also express their ideas using different strategies: negation, classification, and function. With these ideas and strategies a more complex definition on what it means to be American was developed. Being an American means being patriotic, having freedoms, and believing in a dream of something amazing. Having patriotism is part of being American.
We have memorial day to remember all the people who died for our country freedom. It was officially was declared on may 5, 1886 by General John Logan. On the first decoration day General James Garfield made a speech at Arlington National cemetery, and 5,000 participants decorated the graves of 20,000 union and confederate soldiers buried there. Memorial day also became more popular after World War I and World War II. There were more American lives lost during the Civil War then the two World Wars combined.
The actual definition of American is relating to, or characteristic of the United States or its inhabitants. Being proud of who you are and the place you live. Americans have defined themselves not by their racial, religious, and ethnic identity but by their common values and belief in individual freedom. An American says the Pledge of Allegiance and understands that voting is important to Democracy, individually Americans value freedom and are proud citizens, and the freedom of human right.

A growing problem in the United States has been the removal of Confederate Civil War Memorials. When posed with the question “What should the United States do with/about Confederate Civil War memorials and statues?” I would side with those opposed to the removal. Today I will share with you my three main reasons why these Confederate Civil War memorials should not be removed. First, history repeats itself and if future generations cannot learn from the past we will be no better off in the future.
Substance Abuse in Returning Combat Veterans Returning combat veterans have difficulties contributing to our society based on their problems with substance abuse. There is an issue of returning combat veterans not being able to afford treatment for their illnesses, so they resort to self-medicating and use drugs and alcohol. Although it is worth considering that some combat veterans manage to escape their addiction for some time, but will usually end up relapsing and only hurt themselves more. We may also be concerned about some combat veterans not being able to adjust to their new lives and resorting to substance abuse a method of stress relief.
Every year, since 1971, Memorial Day has been observed as a national holiday in the United States, in which we honor those who died while protecting our country. To me, Memorial Day is a time where we as a nation, are reminded that all of the freedoms and rights that we take for granted, came at the cost of men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting our country. When Memorial Day befalls its designated date, I am reminded that people fought and died for my freedom and rights. I am reminded that if people didn’t fight for me and for this country, it wouldn’t be the great and prosperous country that it is. Therefore, I take pride in the fact that someone went to war and died to protect my freedoms.
“... O say does that star spangled banner yet wave, o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.” Nearly every American can recite the final lines of our National Anthem. However, few take the time to truly contemplate the meaning of these words. When I hear these phrases, I think of the principles on which our country was founded: the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. But perhaps more important than these rights are the defenders of them: our veterans.
Veterans Day I Rosevelt Vann Veterans Day is a day for The US to appreciate and celebrate the days that the veterans have Served in the US. Veterans Day is also celebrated and honored to the veterans that have served and went to war such as the Vietnam war . Where did Wes 's mother live before coming to the United States. Wesmoore his mother lived in Jamaica before she move to the United States. What was the deeper reason why Joy was his mother was upset that Leslie Nikki when he was three years Old?
When citizens of the United States stare up at their national flag - the 13 stripes and the 50 stars that represent the freedom their ancestors fought tooth and nail for - they probably fail to remember the lessons they were taught in school about the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and the world wars. In these wars, men fought for their country’s freedom, tossing their own life behind them. Should the country that is being protected by brave men and women ignore their efforts and their struggles? No, and if they were to, they would have to hold no pride for their country, and even less for the struggles of their ancestors. One way America honors veterans is Veteran’s Day.
“Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world, but the Marines don't have that problem.” - President Ronald Reagan, 1983. I think this quote, by Ronald Reagan, not only speaks for marines but for all veterans who have served their people and made sacrifices to protect the rights of those people. I am proud and take great pride to be living in a country protected by such courageous men and women who have served to make a positive difference in our country. When someone risks their own life for the betterment of others, it is a very noble act that requires immense bravery and courage.
In The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Maya Lin employs rhetorical devices in order to elucidate, the gross cost of the Vietnam Conflict in U.S. lives. The minimalist design used in the Vietnam Veterans Memorial emphasizes the overwhelming amount of human lives lost. On the Wall, a small diamond is depicted next to the names of people confirmed dead, if a person is MIA(Missing in Action) they get a small cross next to their name. The cross can easily be carved into a diamond if the person is confirmed dead ,or turned into a circle, a symbol of life, if they are found alive.
WHAT DOES VETERANS DAY MEAN TO ME? veterans day is one day celebrated by almost everyone in the world on November 11th. What does it mean to me? I think of veterans day as a day where we celebrate people whom had served in war. Its a day of happiness but also for moring people whom had died saving and fighting for our country.
The novel Five Days at Memorial by Sheri Fink gives an inside view of what happened at Memorial Hospital during Hurricane Katrina (2005); a disaster inside of a disaster. The lack of preparedness or ethical decision making is quite disappointing, considering Memorial hospital is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. New Orleans is well below sea level, and experiences frequent hurricanes and flooding. Memorial hospital itself had little to no plan for evacuating patients once the storm hit. Without power, many of the patients, especially those who were ventilator dependent, became at risk of death.
