Mexico and the U.S are two different countries which have many differences and similarities in food habits. Food habits tell plenty about a country and how the people living there spend their time during a daily routine. Food habits tell about a person 's personality and their lifestyle. This topic will show the U.S and Mexico’s table etiquette, type and origin of food, eating out, time for meals, and attitudes around the table. In Mexico, they have different table etiquette compared to the U.S. Table etiquette is how people around the table act and their manners. According to Nicole Whitney, “Mexican cooks use lots of spicy peppers. Lovers of Mexican foods enjoy it for its flavorful kick, use of fresh aromatic ingredients and colorful presentation. Mexican cuisine incorporates the cooking of ancient Aztec and Mayan Indians with ingredients and cooking techniques that originated from all over the world to create its unmistakable flavor.” (Whitney). It is also very common to meat or chicken dishes or even some fish or seafood in Mexico and in the U.S. In the U.S, most of their food contains meat or some other type of main dish and for a side dish, our food contains vegetables, fruit, or other types of food. For a regular dish in a Mexican restaurant or at home, it contains a main dish like a burrito or other Mexican food and a side dish like beans, rice, or other Mexican side dishes. Mexicans around the table are polite and never rude while sitting at the table and when they are finished eating, you do not leave immediately. You should wait and talk till everyone starts rising from their seats. You should also not arrive right on time to parties that you were invited to because usually people do not arrive till hours later. In the U.S, when you invite someone to your birthday or holiday party you usually arrive at the time that they said the party starts and can be considered rude because they have a setup and get ready before you to arrive. When you are at household in U.S, they are also very polite at the table. Some families that live in U.S do not even sit at a table together unlike many Mexican families. In Mexico it is not encouraged for girls to drink or make a toast so the men have to do it. In the U.S, girls are allowed to drink and
