Kerry Max Cook is a former inmate on death row of 20 years in a Texas prison after being convicted of rape and murder. He was later exonerated of the murder by DNA evidence. In his youth he carjacked a vehicle that belonged to a sheriffs deputy and in the opinion of that sheriff he was label a criminal. At a party he met a girl and went up to her apartment and made out with her and he ever saw her until months later. He was convicted based on his fingerprints in her apartment.

In the five years between 1803 and 1808, South Carolina alone imported 400,000 slaves (Jones, 2004). These were so many slaves that pushed slavery to other regions like Louisiana and Georgia. The Northern States were reluctant in fighting slave trade as they were more concerned about the new government and feared to be in conflicts with the south. Most of the states thought that slavery was a passing cloud and that it was bound to fail sooner. The invention of the cotton gin made the cash crop all the more lucrative.

MILLERSBURG — Two brothers serving a 14-month prison sentence were free men, for the most part, after Holmes County Common Pleas Judge Robert Rinfret granted both judicial release Wednesday. In December, Dennis Carl Bevington, 55, and Gary Lee Bevington, 62, both of 833 Depot St., pleaded guilty in Holmes County Common Pleas Court to failure to provide for a functionally impaired person. In exchange for their pleas, the more serious charges of involuntary manslaughter were dismissed. They could have faced 11 years in prison.

One thing that stands out to me is the Emmett Till case that occurred in Mississippi, 1955. Emmett Till was fourteen year old when two white men murdered him. He was going to a candy store to buy some candy and said "Bye Baby" to a white woman. Three days later Emmett Till was kidnapped by two white men and never returned. His dead body was discovered in Tallahatchie River.

In the story, Hiram Hilburn goes to spend summer vacation with his Grandfather in Greenwood, Mississippi. The main story of the book is the murder of Emmett Till, and the trial that occurs after. Father and son relationships are a huge theme in this book.

Also defined in the Meriam Webster Dictionary is the words judicial review it is a constitutional doctrine that gives to a court system the power to annul legislative or executive acts which the judges declare to be unconstitutional. In the Supreme Court case of Texas v. Johnson, Gregory Lee Johnson had burned an American flag. He burned the flag because he was protesting the policies that President Ronald Reagan had enacted.

In September of 1961, a woman from District of Columbia had an intruder break into her apartment. While the invader of the home was there, they had taken her wallet, and also raped the woman. During the investigation of the crime, the police had found some latent fingerprints in the apartment. The police then established and processed the prints. The prints were then connected back to 16 year old Morris A. Kent.

Spanning from northern Minnesota to New Orleans, man quickly realized the Mississippi river could be used to transport cargo and people. With the invention of the steamboat, this idea quickly came into fruition, allowing cargo and people to travel long distances. But the river proved hazardous to traverse, with sandbars, reefs, and hanging branches especially the Upper Mississippi. Later, the construction of the Louisville and Portland canal helped expand commerce, allowing travel from Pittsburg to New Orleans. Abraham Lincoln at a young age became interested in steamboats, due to a childhood experience of earning money ferrying people across the river.

Charged in the murder of a local boxing legend, Tycorion Davis, 18, was arrested after a Crime Stoppers tip helped to put him behind bars. Former boxer O 'Neil "Supernova" Bell died as a result of a random street robbery, and police are seeking four men accused of his murder. The robbery occurred in southwest Atlanta after O 'Neil Bell stepped off a bus, right before the day of Thanksgiving. As a result of the robbery, Bell died when he attempted to fight back, and they left another person injured. Investigators of criminal law have called it an opportunistic crime, and police put out surveillance footage to solve the case.

he young 14 yr old boy Emmett Till was murdered on August 28, 1955. He allegedly walked into a store and whistle at a white woman while her brother in law and husband were there with her. The boy was dared to go inside this store and whistle at her. Emmett till was from the north you were able to do that from where he came from. Emmett thought it would be all fun and games but the 2 men did not take it lightly.

This past week has been rough for the Robinson family. After a racist jury choose to make an innocent man guilty things went from bad to worse. Atticus Finch was chosen to defend Tom Robinson. This particular case was against Mayella Ewell, a white woman. As a black man Tom was already at a disadvantage.

Emmett Till brutally murdered for wolf whistling at a white women. In the early morning hours of August 28, 1995, fourteen year old Emmett Till. Visiting from Chicago, was rousted from his bed in his uncle's Mississippi shack. By two white men in search of vengeance. His crime was for flirting with a white women.

In the case, Kennedy v. Louisiana, Patrick Kennedy was convicted of aggravated assault. Specifically, the raping of his eight-year-old stepdaughter. The capital punishment for rape of a child under twelve years of age in the state of Louisiana was a death sentence. 1 Evidence: At 9:18 A.M., on March 2, 1998, Patrick Kennedy had called 911.

Honestly, what is loyalty? One can’t even begin to define such a word. It’s one single seven letter word yet, it has a deep profound definition. As a matter of fact, typically one does not use loyalty until they are put to the test. Without a doubt, the test can be anything.

State vs. Mayfield Trial On December 27th, 1989, State Police Officer Edward Mayfield pulled over Donna Nugent to a shady area where he strangled her and threw her body off of a bridge. We don’t know why he pulled her over. He then proceeded to strangle her with a rope. I believe State Police Officer Edward Mayfield is guilty of murder in the first degree because he had and hid the murder weapon, pulling over specifically blonde women, and he changed the activity log.
