In society today, there are many people who decide to make bad choices and decisions. Some decisions they make can be life changing. For instance in the book monster there are a few characters who have made bad decisions in this book. The main character Steve is one of the people in the story who has committed a crime. And there are several pieces of evidence to prove this point. Steve was the look out in the robbery but was not responsible for Mr. Nesbitt’s death because him and his friends were talking about the robbery before it even happened, he lied under oath, however he wasn't even in the store when it happened. First off the reason why Steve is guilty is because him and his friends were talking about the robbery before it even happened.( …show more content…
And in the book, there is evidence to prove he did lie. For example in his (on page 140) he says( “I went into the store”.) But later on in the story when he is actually on trial he says he was not in fact at the store. This evidence tells that he is a liar but he is also more suspicious because he lies for no reason. However, even though he is, in fact, guilty of the robbery he is innocent of the murdering of Mr. Nesbitt. Because he wasn't even in the store at the time. (On page 196) Petrocelli asks Bobo (“Petrocelli: “yes, just before you went in, what were you doing ?”.) And Bobo replies with (“Waiting for him to come out”.) Now this one isn't so clear but this piece of evidence tells us that Steve was still in the store before they have even committed the murder. And it hadn't happened until Steve left the store. In conclusion, Steve is clearly guilty of the crime that he is convicted of. He was talking about the robbery with his friend and he was caught lying under oath, however even when found guilty of the robbery he is not responsible for Mr. Nesbitt's deal due to the face he wasn't in the store during the time of the murder. This is a prime example of how many people in society decide to make life-changing decisions that will negatively affect their
Archer, the store manager stood by and watched as he allegedly put the trimmer into his shopping cart and tossed it along with the two fans over the fence and did not stop him or confront him. Seeing how Mr. Archer is the store manager and is responsible for the store he contributed to theft when he decided not to stop Mr. Gregg. Mr. Archers decision to let Mr. Gregg proceed with his actions made Mr. Archer an accessory to the crime. This is similar to People v Hill when the cashier placed the money for the items into her pocket instead of the register. By the cashier doing that she assisted in helping the defendant commit retail theft, just like Mr. Archer helped Mr. Gregg commit theft when he did not stop him from tossing the items over the fence.
When she called the police on November 2nd, Knox described a robbery and the victims locked room. Apparently, the culprit had broken a window in one of the other girls´ rooms to get in; however, according to four witnesses, the glass from the broken window was laying on top of the scattered objects in the room (Linder, 2023, para. 7). Based on deductive reasoning, the room was ransacked previous to the broken window, further proving it as a cover-up for some illicit act. Furthermore, numerous valuables, objects the “culprit” would have stolen, remained spread around the room in plain sight during the investigation (Ott, 2020, para. 13). Clearly, Knox attempted to cover an illegal act using a staged robbery gone horribly wrong.

Imagine if onee decision you made affected the rest of your life. Rich Marshall made a few questionable decisions. Those decisions had a big impact on the future. The impact those decisions had on Rich's life did not help it's physical or mental state of health. In the book, Whale Talk, by Chris Crutcher, unhealthy relationships dictated Rich Marshall’s future.
Steve Harmons actions depicted his characteristics and we can, therefore, conclude that Steve Harmon is a liar as he lied under oath. Steve was also a guilt-ridden man ashamed of his actions. People who disagree may claim that Steve was undoubtedly innocent as Lorelle Henry, a witness, declared that there were only 2 people, proven to be James King and Bobo Evans, inside the store who eventually murdered Mr.Nesbitt. This may be a strong argument because it shows that Steve was not in the drugstore and could be really innocent. On the contrary, however, Steve’s job was just supposed to be a lookout and ensure that the drugstore was clear of cops or anyone inside.
Dichotomy is a very important characteristic in literature. Dichotomy is able to emphasize the contrast and add many deep layers to a story. In Emily Brontë’s Gothic Novel Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff’s embodies many contrasting philosophical components. Heathcliff personifies the role of a savage and a cultured gentleman. Heathcliff is also able to play the role of the victim and victimizer.
O’brien asked steve if he was in anyway involved with the robbery, Steve answered no he was not. Steve was not in the store during the robbery or when mr. Nesbitt died. When mr Nesbitt died the only two people in the
The definition of a “monster” is a threatening force. In Walter Dean Myers’ Monster, Steve Harmon the defendant in the trial is being charged for felony murder. The monster in him is the struggle between his innocence and guilt. Steve’s judgement of his actions is similar to a pendulum swinging. One side is his innocence translated to his testimony while the other side is his guilt which is seen in his diary.
James King said he did not kill Mr. Nesbitt, so who killed Mr. Nesbitt? Steve’s fate is on the line. Many say that he did not kill Mr. Nesbitt, but who ever said that is absolutely erroneous. To start, Steve said that he was not in the drugstore on December 22nd but then in his journal he said that he walked in the drugstore and looked for some mints which makes me think that maybe Steve was trying to protect himself by saying that he was not in there at the time even if he did not shoot the man but if he told them that he was in there to grab some mints then they would see him as a bigger suspect, “ What did I do? I
His wording shows that he doesn’t know who he is and therefore believes he is a Monster as Ms. Petrocelli calls him. He accepts people’s judgments as his self-truth. Even though, he, himself, accepts the worst he still wants people to perceive him as a good person, especially his mom. Steve’s mom’s words cut deeper in him because his mom believes he didn’t do it while he knows he did. 5 days into the trial, his mother comes by and talks to him hoping to make him feel better, “I could still feel Mama’s pain.
