In 1979, 15 July, Jimmy Carter, the president of America gave a speech “A Crisis of Confidence”. Only three years ago, on the same day, he just accepted the nomination of his party to be a president of the United States. Also, he was the 39th president of the United States, who represented the Democratic Party. Actually, he has been on service in the army when he was young, and has been the governor of Georgia. When he was in power, he made a lot of contributions to the country and the world, such as establishing diplomatic relations with China and some other communism countries, helping negotiate the war between Israel and Egypt.

Jimmy Carter, a former US president effectively incorporates logos – facts and evidence, pathos – appealing word choice and emotion, and ethos – credibility to build his persuasive argument. Carter strives to contend that the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge should not be developed for industry. First, throughout the article, there are many situations where Jimmy Carter incorporates facts and examples. For example, he states, “The Arctic Refuge might provide 1 to 2 percent of the oil our country consumes each day.” By using such numbers, Carter forces the reader to evaluate the situation by recognizing the difference between an insignificant financial income and enormous damage to the territory.

Carter hosted the Camp David Accords with Sadat and Begin to set a timetable for granting self-government to the Palestinians. It, however, was not successful because Israel continued to build Jewish settlements in occupied territories and Islamic fundamentalists assassinated Sadat. Also in January 1979 the pro-US ruler fled Iran being replaced by the Shiite Khomeini who preached hatred towards the United States. In November Iran and US tension increased dramatically, when Khomeini supporters stormed the U.S Embassy in Tehran and seized American hostages.

Jimmy Carter had a plan for future opportunities instead of pouncing on the current opportunity. “Carter recognized that his best hunting ground for support was among those who had been shut out politically”(Matthews 64). Ronald Reagan Ronald Reagan was a character who optimized many of the people when things went very poorly. Many people said his personality was courage, courage that was natural to him, and a courage that was ultimately contagious. He also did do so much more like creating Reaganomics, strengthening nations, and improving many things in the economy. He also did many things that helped out the people, which was his main goal.

There are many moments in history when Roe v. Wade has been so close to being overturned, yet it is still in place. Abortion should stay legal, or not overturned, for the health of women everywhere. First, this important case took place at the time of abortion being illegal in most states, including Texas, where Roe v. Wade began.

Martin King Jr Was a baptist minister and played a very big role in the civil right movement from the mid 1950s to his death. He was the main force to the montgomery bus boycott king was also awarded nobel peace prize. each year we have a federal holiday. He even tried to do a anti violence march.

Carter was not reelected after his four years of being president, but he continued to bring peace in foreign nations and help the United States with foreign relationships. Overall most people considered Jimmy Carter to be a president who did not do as much as he should have as president. Carter’s failures are what the people see instead of his improvements he made to foreign policy and the United States economy. Instead of people seeing how Carter ended the war between Israel and Egypt all they saw was how Carter failed to rescue the hostages from Tehran. Most of my insight comes from a documentary film I watched in my leisure time by the name of,”American Experience: Carter” I found the story of Jack Clark to be really interesting, because when Jimmy Carter was running for governor of Georgia he ran almost on a racist platform; which he would later refute when he became governor of Georgia, and when he moved on to the presidency.
