Personal Narrative: My Identity As A Role Model

The practice sets were focused on doing progression drills, where the swimmer would build off the previous drill. This is a type of practice is known as “part practice” and involved progressing in a starting position and gradually combining the required “parts” to the whole starting position resulting in the dive. (Jean M. Williams & Vikki Krane, 2013). The coach was very instructional in taking the time to do it correctly and offered suggestions when necessary. I believe that the coach has implemented a task-oriented motivation climate within the team, which has a positive effect that intrinsically motivates the swimmers towards improvement and enjoyment of the sport.

She is my role model because she set high expectations for herself and achieved her goals. In her book there is a chapter about setting goals. She says that it is good to have big goals, but you also need to have achievable goals. An example of an achievable goal would be to get a hit that gets you on the base in a game. An example of a big goal would be to play division one softball.

Consequently, you can use your strength as if you were a living, breathing machine. “Their oars were bending like bows, the blades entering and leaving the water cleanly, smoothly, efficiently, the shell’s whale-oil-slick hull ghosting forward between pulls, its sharp cedar prow slicing through the dark water, boat and men forged together, bounding fiercely forward like a living thing” (Brown 348). In high school, I had this role model, and he was my athletic director. The man would do anything for not just me, but the entire athletic department and all the moving parts. For example, at a tennis tournament on the weekend, I was a site by myself competing in that division held at that site. My tennis coach was at another high school with other teammates. He told me I would be the last one picked up for the night, and I already lost, so to hear that was incredibly disappointing.

Throughout my life I have come from and created a few identities for myself. Perhaps, the most dominant identities that have been apart of my life are being an athlete and being a family orientated man. In this paper I will write about how my identities have shaped my life. First off I believe my biggest identity is being an athlete.

She’s a great role model because of how she supports everyone and lifts people up. She taught me that if you really want something then you can get it if you work hard enough. For example, she really wanted to coach JV softball, so she balanced her jobs, family, and relationship to come and coach. She wanted to give us a great experience because that is what she got when she was at Fruitland. You could tell that she loved working with younger girls because of how supportive she was.

For example, Oprah Winfrey. Many people idolize her and look up to her, all for very good reasons. Aside from her own needs, Oprah makes it her goal to better the lives of other people, by attending to their needs. Growing up, she was on her own, with very little resources to do anything. She has brought herself this far and continues to grow, as a person, every day.

Identity is usually thought of as an individual characteristic. It pertains to ones self image, self-esteem, personal qualities, and behaviors. The “self” is an integration of where one comes from, where one lives, what one does, who or what one associates with, and one’s self-perception. However, it’s easy to underestimate the relationship that identity has with the perspective of others. Others opinions can have profound effects on people and their lives.

A role model is a person looked to by others as an example to be imitated, for me that is Esther. I will soon be becoming a Bat Mitzvah and when I enter adulthood I inspire to be like Esther. For hundreds of years Esther’s has been seen as a heroine, but

Your identity are the qualities, beliefs, personality, looks and/or expressions that make you who you are. Your identity helps you find your destiny in life. Without the knowledge of your identity your life will be incomplete. One of the main ways a person can find their identity is by finding out who their ancestors were and what was their purpose in life. Toni Morrison’s Milkman in “Song of Solomon” is a good example of how people can find their identity through their ancestry.

Identity is who someone is as a person. People have different views of what identity is and what can be done to find it. Identity can be your actions and thoughts. It’s what makes someone unique and different from anyone else. The Bible has its own view of identity as well.

Even though this situation, they have people looking up to them. Self-determination, courage, and perseverance, are all strong character traits to possess. With the main character of Grey’s Anatomy, demonstrating these traits, it goes to show what kind of role model she is. She is a role model for young adults due to the fact that numerous of people find themselves in comparable situations. It gives them someone to look up to and strive to be.

Identity is a distinctive identifier of who we are as individuals. People must learn how to construct their own identities through the actions and choices they make. Sometimes when people are influenced by society or the world around them, their own sense of identity can become unfavorably distorted. As such, it is important for people to stay loyal to themselves in order to cultivate and maintain that strong sense of identity.

Many people have a person that they look up to and who encourages them. It 's someone who I think doesn 't give up and gets back up when they fall down, who has an impact to other people around them and they work for what they have earned. A person that is a role model to me is a man named Kobe Bryant. He is a basketball player that accomplished many things in his career. He was also born on August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Biography Today 44).
