The Pledge of Allegiance was created in 1892 and as seen been the way how most public areas start their day. Now when doing the pledge it is respectful and expected for you to stand in honor of the veterans that have lost their lives for our freedom but some people don’t because of religious beliefs or other factors that are covered by the 1st amendment. In these two articles they show the pros and cons of standing during the pledge and what others think. In the first article, the pro side it states, ”Last year, my final year as a high school teacher before retiring, I had two students who decided to take a knee during the Pledge of Allegiance. I wondered why and framed the question in a way they might not have expected.

Jerry Brewer’s Washington Post article, “The NFL Beat Trump. Soundly”, gives the information on how our NFL players and our president Donald Trump are having a controversial dispute. Jerry Brewer states “the actions of the NFL players which has many American football fans enraged by their actions during the national anthem”. Brewer didn’t have too many examples in proving that the NFL had beat trump. In this article, Brewer did not use rhetoric well in this article to explain how the NFL had beaten trump.

Should someone be locked up for burning the American Flag? Yes, because the American represents unity and freedom between all 50 states. Most of the U.S. may have become emotional, because of what happened to the flag. Desecrating an American Flag was a criminal offense in Texas, as it was under federal law and in 48 of the 50 states. The National Anthem is something many Americans hold dear to their hearts. When football players started to kneel instead of stand with the others as a protest, Americans started to become angry. Football players should stand for the national anthem for the soldiers, to help unify America, and to find another way to protest. First of all, football players should stand for our soldiers. Our soldiers have fought for our country and they fight for our flag.

The argument of the pros was most convincing effulgent facts stated (Paul, et al., 2017).Colin Kaepernick chooses to do what he felt was the ethical thing to do. Even though he is being criticized for his actions, they have caused no bloodshed, no innocent killing, and no racial slurs. According to Jabrill Peppers, “there are a lot of racial and social injustices in the world that are going on right now, we decided to take a knee and pray for the people who have been affected”, (Pros Cons. org 2017). Consequently, after evaluating the situation, either Kaepernick will stand for what he believes and feel is right which is the United States is not living up to its idea of freedom, liberty, and justice for all.

George Washington once said, “If the freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.” I agree with this quote, and feel that America should never lose this right, as it gives people freedom, unlike the society in the book, Anthem. In my opinion, America is not an Anthem society because America is a land of freedom, not censorship, due to our individual rights such as the freedom of speech, which gives us freedom of thought and expression. The freedom of speech is the ability to say what you like about any subject to any one.

In the novelette, "Anthem" by Ayn Rand and "The Declaration of Independence. " They both have similarities and differences on "Equality" as used in Anthem and The Declaration of Independence. In The Declaration of Independence there is one quote that's quite famous in today"s society "All men are created equal", this message is still being used in today's society and in the society of the novel Anthem. But in Anthem equality is used differently, equality is taken more seriously.

Athletes and other individuals should be able to kneel for the national anthem to bring attention to the social injustice that exists in our country today. There is a clear problem that exists in many parts of the United States of America, and many are uncomfortable talking about it. African Americans and other minorities have been unfairly targeted and discriminated against throughout this country’s history, and this difficulty can still be found in the present. One way athletes and others have been protesting police brutality that has erupted a nationwide controversy is kneeling while the national anthem is being played. Kneeling during the national anthem is a peaceful form of protest that is effective as it brings attention to the problem.

Kneeling during the national anthem is a form of peacefully protesting instead of choosing to stay silent and not have a voice. Former NFL player Colin Kaepernick who is currently a free agent brought the attention to “kneeling during the national anthem” when he decided to take a knee during a preseason game. Him kneeling brought an uproar of people who believed he was being “disrespectful” and “unpatriotic”, others believed he was being “brave” and a “hero”. Kaepernick had a reason for doing so, he was standing up for social justice and police brutality again African Americans. Significance of The Flag

The flag protest generates conversation and awareness about topic. "In a situation like that, people are seeing it. We can report it”(“If there’s protest, NBC…”). This shows that if NFL players are doing controversial things that news outlets will report it.

Colin Kaepernick, the quarterback of the San-Francisco 49ers, chose not to stand for the National Anthem at a recent National Football League game. Instead, he decided to express his unhappiness with the way African Americans are being treated by police, by kneeling to the ground. This was his form of protest and attempt to convey his message about how he felt. Kaepernick does have the right to not stand for the National Anthem, however, it is disrespectful. People fight for our freedom, so why disrespect those men and women and an NFL game was not the right time or place to hold his protest.

People who oppose this way to protest tend to say you have no rights to kneel during the anthem. They also say that kneeling during the anthem is not showing any pride for the America. Someone even went as far as saying ‘They are spitting on the graves of everyone killed on 911. That may not be their intention but that is reality. (Expletive) you and (expletive) them.

However, this right does not mean that people must agree with you and in many cases, groups wind up at odds over differing opinions. Over the past few years America has seen many examples of this, most notably football players protesting injustice by kneeling during the anthem.

The National Anthem goes on every single time before a game begins. Each time it is being sung everyone usually stands up to show respect for America. While, news said that a few athletic players that have been sitting down, while the National Anthem goes on. This keeps happening more and more slowly because those athletics don’t believe that America lives up to that potential in the song as it once represented. As well as the incidents that happened with the police of excessive force being used against people unassertively.
