Leadership is the ability to guide or influence others with an objective of achieving a desired outcome. It involves influencing beliefs, opinions, values, perceptions, or behaviors of an individual or a group, and it is an amalgamation of inherent personality traits, learned skills, and it is a response to situational stimuli. I believe that, at any particular moment, where two or more individuals are interacting, one of them will emerge as the leader the other(s). To me, this means leadership role is fluid, and it changes as situational stimuli changes. I became aware that this is one of the unwritten role each instructor in nursing school has. Through the influence of my instructors, I joined the Fresno City College Student Nurses ' Association, and I become the treasurer of the club. As the treasurer, I was able to guide and influence other students on issues related to volunteering our time and resources to worthy ventures. After graduating from nursing school, I became a correctional nurse, where I have a responsibility of guiding and influencing inmates with a view of helping them to change their perceptions, values, and behaviors. Also, I have been striving to change the perception my colleagues have towards our clients. The situation I found in the correctional setting was a nurse-centered model, where my colleagues perceived the client as a dangerous criminal who is a threat to the safety of the nurse, prior perceiving him as patient. However, my perception, as a care giver, is to foremost regard the client as a patient who deserves my empathy and care, without losing cognizant that he is a potential
Lisa Cash Hanson said, "Leadership is the ability to guide others without force into a direction or decision that leaves them still feeling empowered and accomplished. " Hanson continues to remind me of the selfless nature that great leaders continue to practice. To me, leadership is not a title or destination. Leadership isn't about remembrance or fame, it's about the impact, inspiration, and the influence you have on others.
When I think of leadership, I think of it as a skill that not everyone can develop. For me, it took numerous times of being a follower or a leader, before developing this skill and form the type of leader that I wanted to become. The particular leadership experience that I’m most proud of would have to be leading my high school wrestling team. I started off the season by enthusiastically creating an atmosphere that new members of the team would feel welcomed and strengthened the bonds I had with veteran members.
Leadership is the means by which someone uses their influence to serve as a guide for others to be successful. It is the ability to understand and utilize your strengths, as well as addressing your weaknesses in the most efficient way possible. That is what separates the “good” and “bad” leaders of world history. The well-known great leaders of history made pivotal decisions that led to many illustrious achievements; but where there are good leaders, there are also bad ones. There are often circumstances in which a choice was made, that soon followed by a downfall.
My leadership in nursing is grounded in the knowledge of the needs of patients; knowledge of skills, individual characteristics and needs of the staff employees; and objectives implemented by the group. The strongest feature of is the stimulation of motivation for each employee to develop their potential, and to take care of a particular patient where the employee recognises that he was considered the best qualified who provided with a service that meets his needs . My leadership in nursing allows me to implement the actions with a view to achieving higher levels of efficiency in care in health and nursing, while in the professional practice law and the code of ethics I find support for the development of process of nursing leadership. According to the theory, the restrictions and requirements the hospitals hinder intimidate the professional nursing as to argue in front of such situation.

It is about creating a culture of excellence where people will be motivated to achieve their full potential, and where the collective efforts of the team result in greater success than any individual could achieve alone. Leadership involves setting a positive example, providing guidance, and building relationships based on mutual trust and respect. During my career in the Navy, I have had the privilege of working with some exceptional leaders who have greatly influenced my leadership style.
Reflection Qualities that make an effective nursing leader are the same qualities that many other nursing staff and general public possess. Such as, the ability to support and empower their team members, be well organized, remain consistent with their expectations, and be able to communicate with their team. Support and empower the team members An example of this quality is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on one of the units at Wascana Rehabilitation Center (WRC), where I had one of my clinical rotations. This nurse would ask each staff member if they had any concerns during their daily huddles.

Leadership is having the courage to make the right choices, engage others in a vision, and empower your subordinates with a shared purpose and to achieve positive impacts. Leadership can also be relational which means it takes teamwork, requires you to be able to work with others in various backgrounds and that may have difference perspectives. Leadership also requires continuous learning, discerned decision making, and savvy communication skills.

Nursing management includes a high-quality care of a manager who fulfill these functions led by professionals: workload management, bed management, dealing with staff shortages, staff interviews and recruitment, staff appraisals, acting as staff advocate, budgeting, and ensuring resources are available.
