In the article "Don’t blame the eater" written by Zinczenko, he argues that fast food is the main reason why so many teenagers are suffering from obesity in United States. He explains that many companies will use advertisements to deceive customers. For example, a company’s website offers a chicken salad with less than four hundred calories per serving; however, they don’t label everything that the salad has In the first label. They will use separate labels in the products that the salad has on it, so the costumer gets confused and thinks that he is actually eating a four hundred calories salad that is "healthy". However, he is actually eating a seven or more hundred calories meal.

Back in 1900 Hunter Randolf, a 46 year old murder who took about 7 girls, 3 boys and 1 adult, is serving three life sentences and death row. “Three Little Words” by Ashley Rhodes Courter is a memoir chronicling the author’s experience growing up in the Florida foster care system. Before Rhodes Courter was introduced to foster care, she was raised until the age of three by her single-teenage mother. In Ashley's Ordinary World, she recalls feeling happy and loved by her mother. However, her mother, unbeknownst to Ashley, engaged in hazardous activities, abusing drugs and neglecting Ashley and her half-brother, Luke. After their mother was arrested, Ashley and Luke were uprooted from their home and crammed into the dysfunctional foster care system (herald).

The Book “Daniel Isn’t Talking” is written by Marti Leimbach. Leimbach writes a nonfiction book that is semi-influenced by her own personal experience with her child's diagnosis of autism. The book is written in first-person point of view, through the eyes of Melanie, a 29-year-old mother of two. Daniel, that is almost three, and Emily who is four. We see Melanie face difficulties trying to cope with life issues due to a past life of hardships involving deaths of many loved ones and her new relationship with her husband Stephen and his never supportive family.

The Spirit Catches You ​The Spirit Catches you and You fall down centers on Lia Lee, an epileptic Hmong Child who is caught in-between care of her loving parents and the responsibility of her caring doctors. Her parents are traditional Hmong’s who are hesitant towards American medicinal methods compared to Hmong traditional methods. While on the other side stands her American doctors, who were educated in American Universities and are for the most part are very much against treating Lia with anything besides the practice they’ve been educated on. A toolbox filled with many different tools that have many different purposes can be used to put broken things back together, or take whole things apart. This all depends on the person with the tools and their intentions. One could also substitute the toolbox for the act of lying and all of the tools inside of the box for the different types of lies that there are. In the essay written by Stephanie Ericsson, “The Ways We Lie” she examines and explains from her personal experience the different types of lies that there are. One might say that lying is immoral, and a terrible thing to do, but this just depends on how you lie and what your intentions are with the lies that you tell.

The film “Solitary Nation” by Dan Edge had an impact on me as I was watching the film of the inmates’ lives in solitary while a new warden is trying to make a change for them. Although it was similar to other prison documentaries, it had more of a closer view to solitary than the normal prisons. It provided evidence of how torturing it could be after a certain time, and how the world is constantly full of that nature no matter what measures are taken. It depicted the causes of solitary on the inmates’ behavior, and how contradictory it is to have solitary confinement. Should solitary still be used as a way of punishment?

The author Alex Flinn, mostly creates an accurate and unbiased view of the topic in the following way(s), by showing how domestic abuse has hurt many people with the cycle of abuse, types of abusers(Mario), and different views of abuse (Journal to Narrator), but fails to accurately portray different types of abuse in the following way(s) by showing how the Dolphins are a big impact on Nick’s life and why it changed the way he realized he was hurting Caitlyn verbally and physically. In many ways there are many children that had grown up with being abused either mostly verbally or physically. In the textbook Let's Talk written by Andrea Lunsford, new ideas and habits are introduced that will help people learn how to communicate better and interact with others. The first four chapters revealed concepts that were used by the authors of the following readings: "Arranging a Marriage in India," "Your Smartphone is making you stupid," and "Small Change". The concept that influenced the understanding of “Arranging a Marriage in India” is to get to know people different from you. Next, the concept that influenced the understanding in “Your Smartphone is making you stupid” is to research your views. Lastly, the concept that increased understanding of “Small Change” was to listen when people express their views.

In the 1500s, the Catholic Church was very powerful and they controlled everything. Rebellious individuals used to come out with books against the Catholic Church. For example, Michael Servetus came out with a book called “The Errors of Trinity” which criticized the ideas of the Catholic Church.

On an Island of twelve boys, two were found dead, and one almost dead. Now it's time to find out who should be charged with murder with the attention on Jack Merridew. Simon was brutally murdered, Piggy was hit with a rock causing his head contents to explode, and Ralph was almost killed. All of the boys should be charged with the murder of Simon. In the John 8:7, when referring to the adulterous woman, Jesus said to the people, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” Inherently sinful, individuals cannot go a day without lying. However, lying cannot justify good intentions, various definitions or exaggerations because at the end of the day, a lie remains a lie. Author Stephanie Ericsson argues in “The Ways We Lie,” that various types of lies do exist and often times goes unnoticed by the public. She never outright states that lying is wrong; rather, by the use of definitions and personal experiences, she proves the point that all individuals do lie.
