Personal Narrative: Relay For Life

Hi Journey Group! If you know me at all, you absolutely know that I crave new experiences and love to share them. This year, I have begun new adventures… from beginning a new job, to becoming the first African-American female Publisher in Charlotte, to fulfilling a life-long dream of writing and publishing a book. We all have connected at different points in my life, and by far, this is the most exciting time for me that I’ve had in a very long time.

I wanted to make something happen that had a more important meaning. Making crafts and helping with my friend’s fair animals was great and I will always love those memories; however, I wanted to make a change. After doing a 4-H project on my family history, I realized that too many people in my life have been taken from me because of one disease: cancer. I knew right away that other people want to make a difference and find a cure to cancer too. How have things been lately? I’m sure things are a little different without me but I hope you’re doing well. I’m pleased to say that I’m going all right up until now, and I hope to stay healthy till the end of the war. What we were told about war was very untruthful.

The word cancer is often associated with fear, but as far back as I can remember, I wasn’t scared of cancer and I truly just wanted to help people suffering through it. I wanted to know them and their story and be a part of it through medicine. My curiosity started as a child trying to understand what was happening to some of my family members as they became ill and passed on. My inquisitiveness and concern for this disease only continued to grow as I got older and lost a sister to a yearlong fight with brain cancer and assisted another through years of breast cancer treatments. Eventually, this led me to help many others on their cancer journey through volunteer work as an advocate for the American Cancer Society.

So the social norm that I broke I thought it was kind of funny. what I did was that I would walk around and taking people’s carts. I would grab the cart and say “well this is everything I need. ”I went to Target instead of Walmart because I go there a lot so I don’t want to go back to target ever again anyways. Taking mine at I look like crap because I’m sick.

By this point in her workout, Kate was getting worn down. After all, she'd only really run two 5k's, and the first one had nearly killed her. The second went marginally better. Since then, she'd decided that focusing on building up her stamina was a much better investment than simply trying to go faster. That didn't stop her from setting up these little competitions in her mind, however, and now she was starting to feel the effects of those extra seconds.

Some days I feel terrible, and some days I be feeling myself. I have had the pleasure of having Janet 's main engineer listen to a few of my beats and enjoy them. I wish I could have made Janet 's album, but she had already finished Unbreakable. I have had the pleasure of talking with the writer and creator of Malcolm and Eddie. Nothing has came about so far, but 2016 has been a way better year than 2015.

Well let’s start with a previse job, when I lived in New Jersey. I worked for a place called Project Freedom, Inc. has adapted housing for people with disabilities, fund and develop programs to assist people with disabilities. My position was bus driver, but with varies other duties involved, such as scheduling different activities, aiding in their personal care, assist in feeding, helping them with purchases. Now let me tell you about some of our activities. We had activities 5 to 6 days a week, one of their favorite things to do was bingo.

ECO completely omitted my main reason for taking a full time course. I was working merely as an "assistant" and had no professional growth. I clearly remember stating that, "there were no new assignments or projects for me" and I wasn't working well as he stated and respected ECO failed to interpret it in its true meaning. My career got stuck at a point and I was restricted to basic duties and sometimes I was made fun for having no new dimensions in career, emotionally and mentally I started to suffer because of this. As time passed, I realized my true potential is being wasted and in order to save my chances of a flourishing career, my professional confidence and professional and self respect.

December 26th, 2008 was the day this world lost one of the most inspiring, radiant and influential people to ever live. My precious aunt’s cause of death was one many are familiar with: cancer. I distinctly remember the deafening silence following the news, the seemingly unbearable pain while trying to grasp the concept, but also the overwhelming love and support that flooded inform family, friends, and the community. This situation paves the way to answer what sort of problem I would like to solve one day. I would love to be able to aid in the continuous search of a cure for cancer.

Following the trek leader on a trail at philmont, new mexico, we came across one of the many river crossings. my patrol leader, cody went across before the rest of us crossed. The trail lead up a rugged rock staircase and on to the other side of the mountain into one of the valleys and the Moss covered forest. An almost indescribable atmosphere surrounded me as I jumped across the river. Dizzy, the sandstone cliffs spinning around above me, I felt as if I was losing my grip on my life.

I 'm struggling trying to write my college essay wanting this to be the story that might determine my future. I 'm overthinking, Living in the most savage projects in Boston might be effective. Dodging bullets while gathering speed sliding down on the pavement of a one way streets trying to strive home getting closer and closer to the only location I feel protected at is my home. These streets really isn 't a joke this summer of 2015 there were more than 15 shots fire in my projects and more than half was either the location I just left from or the crowd I was with. Running for my life not coperheding why is it coming my direction.

We had paved our own trail. The dusty dirt under our feet had become crackling branches while the hills and hills of dead scrubs scratched up and down our legs with every step. We were coloring outside the lines, thinking outside the box, a trait I didn’t even realize I had before I met him. The moment was full of hope and promise even there. Surrounded by what looked like the aftermath of a wildfire, we were two stars alone in a deserted galaxy.

It was quite Monday in spring, a normal day but for me and my team it was a big day. It was the day we started training for the important race; the race decide which track team was the best in the city. My teammates are, George, Aron and Dylan. We have been working hard because we lost the championship last year it would be good for us to come out this year and win the championship.
