Forty percent of people in the world are predicted to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. For the longest time, this remained a statistic to me, but everything changed the day my father received a phone call detailing my paternal grandpa 's lung cancer diagnosis. To my dismay, I learned that my grandpa wasn 't the only one affected by this adversity in my family, but my maternal grandma and uncle have also been diagnosed in the past. That day, my entire perspective on cancer transformed and, consequently, I felt a need to do something about it. In high school, I eagerly sought to join Relay for Life. For me, Relay wasn 't just any club. Relay was an assiduous student-run organization dedicated towards tenaciously supporting the fight
