Personal Statement: Governor's School (Engineering/Technology) Response

Humans By Definition The dictionary defines humanity as followed: “the human race; human beings collectively”, but it is what humanity connotes that really makes a human human. Being a human does not make one humane; it is having values, ethics, and culture that does. Humans are a complex species with ethical and logical thinking along with compassion for other creatures and things. It is the nature of humans that has allowed great development of our society within the short amount of time people have inhabited Earth.

As a matter of fact, the Cockrell School of Engineering has cultivated the best and brightest minds of the world that are leading us on the forefront of technological advancement. Hence, I feel deeply inspired by such an accomplishment and am eager to carry out their legacy. To those whom I am well acquainted, they would agree that I place significant emphasis on my education as a student. The twenty-first century encourages, even dictates, progressive and critical thinking in order for a person to thrive above the familiar. Personally, I envision a world where technology ultimately transcends every limitation set by man.

Additionally, at Penn Engineering a plethora of research opportunities will become available to me. Winning the Terry B. Heled Travel & Research Grant under CURF’s umbrella, I will undertake independent research in the summer in universities on foreign shores, beginning with

Dear Rossier School of Education Faculty, Throughout my education I was not expected to succeed, english being my second language and attending low socioeconomic schools in the city of Santa Ana I was deemed to dropout of school like the majority of children before me. I rarely remember having a student-teacher relationship with an educator throughout my education, and as I succeeded academically my teachers were surprised but nothing more than surprised. Then there were the teachers that made all the difference, teachers that went above and beyond and left an everlasting impact on how I view education, and essentially what made achieving a higher education possible. With the guidance of teachers, instructors and school faculty I was admitted to the University of California Irvine which was not only an accomplishment and a dream of mine but an accomplishment for my family. My journey through education is still the reality of many children attending low socioeconomic schools and/or public schools today, Just like the amazing mentors I had throughout my education, I want to make a difference alongside of them by creating positive and supporting

In today’s world, everyone is using some form of an applied science that is used without a slight recognition. Since then history has passed on concepts from different groups which resulted in benefiting contributions for today’s society. Right now it’s no different from the past because inventors are constantly exploring modern ideas in pursuit of making them better. When modern ideas are perfected, they get wrapped into a system. This results in better technology for everyone in the community to use.

And with this we are also creating more intelligent machines. Some time ago an essay was published by (Ray Kurzweil) called “The Coming Merging of Mind and Machine” this article goes over a lot of evolutionary advances our machines have come too and will come to in the future of human existence. There is a quote that states “as this happens, there will be no longer be a clear distinction between humans and machines” (Kuzweil). He is saying that in the near future we will have created such advanced technology that people will not be able to tell the difference between human and machines. This means that a computer system or robot will have every this a human has, thoughts, free speech, and perhaps conscience.

Rather than focus all our attention on technology, we should emphasize how we can help others around

One goal of mine is to acquire the skill set to become receptive to constant, incoming, knowledge and change. In the time that I spend working towards my degree, I hope to further expand my problem-solving abilities and develop my abstract mind. I am still interested in learning all I can about everything around me. While I had always been intrigued by science and engineering, my experience at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School (GNBVT) is a major factor in what has molded me into a prime candidate for success. My love for engineering grew immensely, and I became intrigued by coding and computer systems. How shared knowledge can shape personal knowledge Justification Shared knowledge has been known to shape personal knowledge in various areas of knowledge. Throughout our life as individuals, we strive to harness different forms of knowledge. We acquire information from distinct sources in our community and society and then try to interpret them using our knowledge matrix and ways of knowing such as reason, language, and intuition. Knowledge can, therefore, be divided into two distinct groups, personal and shared knowledge.

I am interested in science because it really helps me to think, to understand the principle of the world. When I go to college in the United States, I want to major in science since it is the same all over the world. When I enrolled in a general engineering course, the instructor gave us an assignment to build a Stirling Engine. The theory of this engine is external heat changes the temperature of the gas that increases the pressure to create energy. For the big project, several students developed into groups, we watched some videos at home, we discussed in the team.
